In this paper, the method of reducing hanmnics and correcting of power factor in single PWM converter associated with diode rectifier and boost converter is studied. In the general diode rectifier there are sorre problems that discontinuous current of reducing power factor and including distortion of hanmnics at the input current affects other sources. To solve the problems of performance degradation due to pulse wavefonn in the input current, the ac-dc converter in which the hanmnic distortion in the input current is reduced using a third-hanmnic-injected PWM is proposed. A lower power loss of switching and easy configuration of circuit are obtained by adopting discontinuous current mode. Simulation and experimental results of ac-dc converter with 5[kHz] switching frequency are presented and correction of power factor and reduction of total hanmnic distortion was established.lished.
A three-phase, three-switch, and three-level boost-type PWM rectifier (Vienna rectifier) is proposed as an active front-end power factor correction (PFC) rectifier for telecom loads. The proposed active front-end PFC rectifier system is modeled by the switching cycle average model. The relation between duty ratios and DC link capacitor voltages is derived in terms of the system input currents. Furthermore, the feasible switching states are identified and applied to the proposed system to reduce the switching stress and DC ripples. A detailed equivalent circuit analysis of the proposed front-end PFC rectifier is conducted, and its performance is verified through simulations in MATLAB. Simulation results are verified using an experimental setup of an active front-end PFC rectifier that was developed in the laboratory. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the improved power quality parameters that are in accordance with the IEEE and IEC standards.
A high efficiency ZVS PWM asymmetrical half bridge converter for a plasma display panel (PDP) sustaining power modules is proposed in this paper. To achieve the ZVS of power switches for the wide load range, a small additional inductor L/sub 1kg/, which also acts as an output filter inductor, is serially inserted into the transformer's primary side. At that point, to solve the problem of ringing in the secondary rectifier caused by L/sub 1kg/, the proposed circuit employs a structure without the output filter inductor, which helps the voltages across rectifier diodes to be clamped at the output voltage. Therefore, no dissipative RC (resistor capacitor) snubber for rectifier diodes is needed and a high efficiency as well as low noise output voltage can be realized. In addition, since it has no large output inductor filter, the asymmetrical half bridge converter features a simpler structure, lower cost, less mass, and lighter weight. In addition, since all energy stored in L/sub 1kg/ is transferred to the output side, the circulating energy problem can be effectively solved. The operational principle, theoretical analysis, and design considerations are presented. To confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed circuit, experimental results from a 425W, 385Vdc/170Vdc prototype are presented.
A high efficiency ZVS PWM asymmetrical half bridge converter for a plasma display panel (PDP) sustaining power module is proposed in this paper. To achieve the ZVS of power switches for the wide fond range, n small additional inductor $L_{lkg}$, which also acts as an output filter inductor, is serially inserted to the transformer primary side. Then, to solve the problem related to ringing in the secondary rectifier caused by $L_{lkg}$, the proposed circuit employs a structure without the output filter inductor, which helps the voltages across rectifier diodes to be clamped at the output voltage. Therefore, no dissipative RC (resistor capacitor) snubber for rectifier diodes is needed and n high efficiency as well as low noise output voltage can be realized. In addition, since it has no large output inductor filter, it features a simpler structure, lower cost, less mass, and lighter weight. Moreover, since all energy stored in $L_{lkg}$ is transferred to the output side, the circulating energy problem can be effectively solved.
A novel digital control algorithms are developed for an active power filter (APF) using a pulse-width modulated (PWM) rectifier with current link. A main control algorithm compensating both the reactive power and harmonic currents with fast dynamic response is derived through a vector approach. A space vector modulation technique is developed for the PWM rectifier in order to generate the desired current vector of the APF. The system generates no acoustic noise and it is implemented with a minimal control hardware structure using the Intel 80196 single-chip microcomputer. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme gives good dynamic and static performance for the APF system.

Recently, the real time simulator to develop the inverter drive board and motor control algorithm for high power induction motor and PM synchronous motor is required. In this paper, the real time simulator based on the voltage control for a PM synchronous motor is proposed. The resistor, inductor, and the induced voltage for the modeling of a PM synchronous motor is implemented by the power converter including the LCL filter and the PWM rectifier. The induced voltage of a PM synchronous motor is simulated by the capacitor voltage of the LCL filter, which is controlled by PI voltage controller and the deadbeat current controller. The operation and the simulated characteristics of the proposed real time simulator for a PM synchronous motor is verified by the simulation.
Telecom supplies need to conform to low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and high Power Factor (PF) as per IEC 61000-3-2 and IEEE 519-1992 standards. These high rating power supplies use a three phase utility in which low THD and high PF are realized via various passive and active wave shaping schemes. In this paper, a new design for three phase telecom power supplies is presented with circuit parameter values optimized for high performance in terms of a low THD, high PF, low ripple and high line and load regulation using a suitable combination of various strategies. The performance of the power supply is validated by extensive simulations.
The voltage-source inverters are normally equipped with an electrolytic capacitor in their DC link, however, the electrolytic capacitor has several disadvantages such as increasing size, limiting converter life and reliability. Therefore, several approaches for removing the DC link capacitor have been studied by the authors. This paper proposes a new voltage-source inverter without DC link components. To reduce waveform distortion of the AC source current, the current-controlled PWM-rectifier with di/dt feedback is introduced. The di/dt feedback gain and LC parameters are investigated by calculation for a 0.75kW induction motor driven by this inverter. The calculated AC source currents maintain nearly sinusoidal waveforms with a unity power factor.
