  • To improve the current waveform of diode rectifiers, we propose a new operating principle of the voltage diode rectifiers. In the conventional voltage rectifier circuit, relatively large capacitors are used to boost the output voltage, while the proposed circuit uses ones and a small reactor not boost the output voltage but improve the input current waveform. A circuit design method is shown and confirmed simulation. It explained that compared conventional PWM(Pulse-width modulated)inverter with HPWM(Half Pulse-width modulated)inverter. • To improve the current waveform of diode rectifiers, we propose a new operating principle for the voltage-doubler diode rectifiers. In the conventional voltage-doubler rectifier circuit, relatively large capacitors are used to boost the output voltage, while the proposed circuit uses smaller ones and a small reactor not to boost the output voltage but improve the input current waveform. A circuit design method is shown by experimentation and confirmed simulation. The experimental results of the proposed diode rectifier satisfies the harmonic guide lines. A high input power factor of 97(%) and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The new rectifier with no controlled switches meet the harmonic guide lines, resulting in a simple, reliable and low-cost at-to dc converters in comparison with the boost-type current-improving circuits. This paper proposes a nonlinear impedance circuit composed by diodes and inductors or capacitors. This circuit needs no control circuits and switches, and the impedance value is changed by the polarity of current or voltage. And this paper presents one of these applications to improve the input current of capacitor input diode rectifiers. The rectifier using the nonlinear impedance circuit is constructed with four diodes and four capacitors in addition to the conventional rectifiers, that is, it has eight diodes and five capacitors, including a DC link capacitor. It makes harmonic components of the input current reduction and the power factor improvement. Half pulse-width modulated (HPWM) inverter was explained compared with conventional pulse width modulated(PWM) inverter. Proposed HPWM inverter eliminated dead-time by lowering switching loss and holding over-shooting.

  • A new DC/DC converter with zero voltage switching is proposed for applications with high input voltage and high load current. The proposed converter has two circuit modules that share load current and power rating. Interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) is adopted to generate switch control signals. Thus, ripple currents are reduced at the input and output sides. For high-voltage applications, each circuit module includes two half-bridge legs that are connected in series to reduce switch voltage rating to $V_{in}/2$. These legs are controlled with the use of asymmetric PWM. To reduce the current rating of rectifier diodes and share load current for high-load-current applications, two center-tapped rectifiers are adopted in each circuit module. The primary windings of two transformers are connected in series at the high voltage side to balance output inductor currents. Two series capacitors are adopted at the AC terminals of the two half-bridge legs to balance the two input capacitor voltages. The resonant behavior of the inductance and capacitance at the transition interval enable MOSFETs to be switched on under zero voltage switching. The circuit configuration, system characteristics, and design are discussed in detail. Experiments based on a laboratory prototype are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

  • A novel Zero Current Switching(ZCS) Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) boost converter with dual mode for reducing two rectifiers reverse recovery related losses is proposed. The switches of the proposed converter are operating to work alternatively turn-on and turn-off with soft switching condition In the every cycle and the proposed converter reduces the reverse recovery current, which is related switching losses and EMI problems, of the free-wheeling diode$(D_1, D_2)$ by adding the resonant inductor Lr, in series with the switch $S_1$. The switching components$(S_1, S_2, D, D_1)$ in the proposed boost converter are subjected to minimum voltage and current stresses same as those in their PWM counterparts because there are no additional active switches and resonant elements compared with the conventional ZVT PWM $converters^{[2]}$. The operation of the proposed converter, in this paper, is analyzed and to verify the feasibility of the characteristics is built and tested.

  • One of the drawbacks of using diode-bridge rectifiers in the unity interface, is the line-current harmonic distortion caused by the nonlinear nature of the rectifier operation. So, a PWM converter for the power factor correction is analysed for unity power factor as well as low cost design, which enable to meet the limits of international standards.

  • Harmonic analysis is important for PWM rectifiers with high powerfactor. This paper describes the harmonic analysis of input current in high powerfactor boost-type rectifier. The magnitudes of the harmonics are obtained through the current wave from analysis and the effect of source reactance is also analyzed.

  • Many studies have been conducted to reduce environmental pollution by ships and reduce fuel consumption. As part of this effort, research on power conversion systems through DC distribution systems that link renewable energy with conventional power grids has been pursued as well. The diode rectifiers currently used include many lower harmonics in the input current of the load and distort supply voltage to lower the power quality of the whole system. This distortion of voltage waveforms causes the malfunctions of generators, load devices and inverter pole switching elements, resulting in a large number of switching losses. In this paper, a controller is presented to improve DC output waveforms, the input Power Factor and the THD of an AFE type PWM rectifier used for PLL. DC output voltage waveforms have been improved, and the input Power Factor can now be matched to the unit power factor. In addition, the THD of the input power supply has been proven by simulation to comply with the requirements of IEEE Std514-2014.
