In this paper, the parallel operation for a FC generation system is introduced and designed in order to increase the capacity for the distributed generation of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system. The equipment is the type that is used by parallel operated PEMFC generation systems which have two PEMFC systems, two dc/dc boost converters with shared dc link, and a grid-connected dc/ac inverter for embedded generation. The system requirement for the purpose of parallel operated generation using PEMFC system is also described. Aspects related to the mechanical (MBOP) and electrical (EBOP) component, size, and system complexity of the distributed generation system, it is explained in order to design an optimal distributed generation system using PEMFC. The optimal controller design for the parallel operation of the converter is suggested and informative simulations and experimental results are provided.
This paper introduces the propulsion system for Korean High Speed Railway(HSR). The developed propulsion system consists of PWM AC/DC converter and inverter. Compared with TGV-K, converters can improve input harmonics characteristics by the interlaced PW switching methods. And several merits such as unity power factor and simple regenerative operations can be also made. As a main power component, IGCT stack with suitable structure for high speed train and environmentally friendly cooling heat pipe is designed. In this paper, overall configuration of controller and control scheme is briefly described. Finally running tests are made to verify the developed propulsion system. The presented test results shows fast torque response, balanced converter current sharing, and appropriate running sequence.

We developed wire frame drive unit based on SMA for the 3D Shape display. Our basic concept is wire frame combination connected with a chain form which can create various shapes and it compared with pin array mechanism which is not able to display mushroom shape. It imitates antagonist mechanism of human musculoskeletal system. we create similar motion using repair-relaxation mechanism and locking mechanism by SMA. Therefore, in this paper, we propose SMA control solution for actuating repair-relaxation mechanism and locking mechanism. In our control system. we use optical sensor and quantitative angle between wire frames for closed loop control. And we supply amplified current for SMA by circuit composed of transistor and apply PWM signal to circuit for efficient control. So, wire frame drive unit enable diversity angle control based on sensor data. And then combination of wire frame drive units will create various objects.

This paper investigates the stability and performance of model predictive controlled active-front-end (AFE) rectifiers for energy storage systems, which has been increasingly applied in power distribution sectors and in renewable energy sources to ensure an uninterruptable power supply. The model predictive control (MPC) algorithm utilizes the discrete behavior of power converters to determine appropriate switching states by defining a cost function. The stability of the MPC algorithm is analyzed with the discrete z-domain response and the nonlinear simulation model. The results confirms that the control method of the active-front-end (AFE) rectifier is stable, and that is operates with an infinite gain margin and a very fast dynamic response. Moreover, the performance of the MPC controlled AFE rectifier is verified with a 3.0 kW experimental system. This shows that the MPC controlled AFE rectifier operates with a unity power factor, an acceptable THD (4.0 %) level for the input current and a very low DC voltage ripple. Finally, an efficiency comparison is performed between the MPC and the VOC-based PWM controllers for AFE rectifiers. This comparison demonstrates the effectiveness of the MPC controller.
A single-stage AC-AC converter has been designed for a wind energy conversion system (WECS) that eliminates multistage operation and DC-link filter elements, thus resolving size, weight, and reliability issues. A simple switching strategy is used to control the switches that changes the variable-frequency AC output of an electrical generator to a constant-frequency supply to feed into a distributed electrical load/grid. In addition, a modified random sinusoidal pulse width modulation (RSPWM) technique has been developed for the designed converter to make the overall system more efficient by increasing generating power capacity and reducing the effects of inter-harmonics and sub-harmonics generated in the WECS. The technique uses carrier and reference waves of variable switching frequency to calculate the firing angles of the switches of the converter so that the three-phase output voltage of the converter is very close to a sine wave with reduced THD. A comparison of the performance of the proposed RSPWM technique with the conventional SPWM demonstrated that the power generated by a turbine in the proposed approximately increased by 5% to 10% and THD reduces by 40% both in voltage and current with respect to conventional SPWM.
In this Paper, we developed a low power type LED security light using LED lighting that substitutes a 220[V] commercial power source for a solar cell module instead of a halogen or a sodium lamp. in addition, a PWM type drive control circuit is designed to minimize the heat generation problem and the drive current of the LED drive controller. in developed system, The light efficiency measurement value is 93.6[lm/W], and a high precision temperature sensor is used inside the controller to control the heat generation of the LED lamp. In order to eliminate the high heat generated from the LED lamp, it is designed to disperse quickly into the atmosphere through the metal insertion type heat sink. The heat control range of LED lighting was $50-55[^{\circ}C]$. The luminous flux and the lighting speed of the LED security lamp were 0.5[s], and the beam diffusion angle of the LED lamp was about $110[^{\circ}C]$ by the light distribution curve based on the height of 6[m].

Energy storage system has been widely applied in power distribution sectors as well as in renewable energy sources to ensure uninterruptible power supply. This paper presents a model predictive algorithm to control a bidirectional AC-DC converter, which is used in an energy storage system for power transferring between the three-phase AC voltage supply and energy storage devices. This model predictive control (MPC) algorithm utilizes the discrete behavior of the converter and predicts the future variables of the system by defining cost functions for all possible switching states. Subsequently, the switching state that corresponds to the minimum cost function is selected for the next sampling period for firing the switches of the AC-DC converter. The proposed model predictive control scheme of the AC-DC converter allows bidirectional power flow with instantaneous mode change capability and fast dynamic response. The performance of the MPC controlled bidirectional AC-DC converter is simulated with MATLAB/Simulink(R) and further verified with 3.0kW experimental prototypes. Both the simulation and experimental results show that, the AC-DC converter is operated with unity power factor, acceptable THD (3.3% during rectifier mode and 3.5% during inverter mode) level of AC current and very low DC voltage ripple. Moreover, an efficiency comparison is performed between the proposed MPC and conventional VOC-based PWM controller of the bidirectional AC-DC converter which ensures the effectiveness of MPC controller.
To predict the behavior of the intravascular micro active endoscope in the real human vascular system, a human mock circulation system was developed. The intravascular micro active endoscope which consists of micro active bending catheter and micro drug infusion catheter was driven in the velocity, Re number and temperature controlled flow. The three SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) zigzag type spring in the micro active bending catheter was heated by the electric current generated by PWM controller, and the shape memory effect made the actuator bend to any direction. The micro drug infusion catheter was driven through the inner hole of the micro active bending catheter. A mock circulation system is shaped from Ascending Arota to Femoral artery according to a human data (the data contains many vascular sizes and hydrographs of many control points). We developed a vascular model with glass and silicone tubes, and set the flow system with circulation parts, flow settling parts, and lots of valves. The heater and heat-controller was added to the How system to centre! the temperature of the How at 36.5$^{\circ}C$. The result showed that the developed intravascular micro active endoscope could be induced to any point in the vascular model.

Advances in FPGA technology have enabled fast real-time simulation of power converters, filters and loads. FPGA based HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) simulators have revolutionized control hardware and software development for power electronics. Common time step sizes in the order of 100ns are sufficient for simulating switching frequency current and voltage ripples. In order to keep the time step as small as possible, ideal switching function models are often used to simulate the phase legs. This often produces inferior results when simulating the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and disabled operational states. Therefore, the corresponding measurement and protection units cannot be tested properly. This paper describes a new solution for this problem utilizing a discrete-time PI controller. The PI controller simulates the proper DC and low frequency AC components of the phase leg voltage during disabled operation. It also retains the advantage of fast real-time execution of switch-based models when an accurate simulation of high frequency junction capacitor oscillations is not necessary.
In lighting system where several large-area organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting panels are involved, panel aging may appear differently from each other, resulting in a falling-off in lighting quality. To achieve uniform light output across large-area OLED lighting panels, we have employed an optical feedback circuit. Light output from each OLED panel is monitored by the optical feedback circuit that consists of a photodiode, I-V converter, 10-bit analogdigital converter (ADC), and comparator. A photodiode generates current by detecting OLED light from one side of the glass substrate (i.e., edge emission). Namely, the target luminance from the emission area (bottom emission) of OLED panels is monitored by current generated from the photodiode mounted on a glass edge. To this end, we need to establish a mapping table between the ADC value and the luminance of bottom emission. The reference ADC value corresponds to the target luminance of OLED panels. If the ADC value is lower or higher than the reference one (i.e., when the luminance of OLED panel is lower or higher than its target luminance), a micro controller unit (MCU) adjusts the pulse width modulation (PWM) used for the control of the power supplied to OLED panels in such a way that the ADC value obtained from optical feedback is the same as the reference one. As such, the target luminance of each individual OLED panel is unchanged. With the optical feedback circuit included in the lighting system, we have observed only 2% difference in relative intensity of neighboring OLED panels.
