In the past, the PWM converter had a large switching loss by hard switching and difficult to high frequency operation. The resonance converter to decrease the switching loss and EMI is required the frequency control and needed to reduce the voltage or current stress at each parts. So, this paper propose the 3-phase boost converter and the method to compensated input power factor by control the amplitude - an instantaneous value of the DC inductor current -and control the switching frequency that a modulation error by the ripple of the DC inductor current. The proposed 3-phase PWM boost converter of single phase control type can takes higher capacity and compensate the power factor by using Feed back controller at each phase for the existing 3-phase bridge rectifier type. Moreover the 3-phase full bridge type using the rectifier at each 3-phase circuit will be small size reactor and compensate input power factor by minimize harmonic components of each phase.
Current controlled pulse width modulation(PWM) for voltage source inverter(VSI) is one of the control method which controls the current directly so that we can perform vector control because it reduces the orders of differential equations of the induction machine. This paper propose a Fuzzy current controlled PWM which properly minimize a current ripple using Fuzzy theory in a constant switching frequency. This technique is applied to an electrical drive system with an induction machine(IM) by simulation. By comparison with the known classical method such as ramp comparison, hysteresis band method, our contribution shows the better performances.

This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy for a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system, which contains the rotor position error information. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error at zero. For zero and low speed operation, the PI gain of the rotor position tracking controller has a variable structure according to the estimated rotor velocity. Then, at zero speed, the rotor position and velocity have sluggish dynamics because the varying gains are very low in this region. In order to boost the bandwidth of the PI controller during zero speed, the loop recovery technique is applied to the control system. The PI tuning formulas are also derived by analyzing this control system by frequency domain specifications such as phase margin and bandwidth assignment.
In this paper, instantaneous controller of a single-phase PWM converter is realized using DSP. The stable PI gain of the input current and the DC link voltage control system is designed. The DC link voltage control system can be designed in continuous-time domain. But as for the input current control system, the descretizing effect cannot be ignored so it must be designed in descrete-time domain considering the calculation time. The capacitance estimating algorithm which can be acquired through the ripple voltage is proposed. By this algorithm the DC link capacitance can be estimated even under the transient state. Experimental results show the input power factor of 99.1% and the voltage variation rate of $\pm$5% according to the load variation.
The magnetic levitation system has great advantages, such as little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. But the magnetic levitation system need a stabilizing controller because it is a unstable, system in natural and it need a sensor for displacement measurement to control the system. In this paper, we proposed a sensorless method to measure the gap between the magnetic pole and the levitated object with application the inductance characteristic which vary according to gap. We made a driving circuit which supply simultaneously the control input PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal and the carrier PWM signal to estimate the gap. Because the inductance is a function of gap, and the current of the carrier signal is a function of the inductance, we could estimate the gap from the measurement of the current of the carrier signal. Finally, we investigated the validity of the proposed method through the experimental results.
In general, the output voltage level of a PV array varies widely at various irradiances and temperatures. The MPP (Maximum Power Point) range of a medium- or high-power PV PCS is normally 450~830Vdc or 300~600Vdc. This means the PV PCS should operate in a wide range of modulation indexes. The PV PCS should satisfy the harmonic current requirement that the TDD (Total demand distortion) shall not exceed 5%. This paper proposes a new PWM control method for a medium- or high-power PV PCS which increases the efficiency of power conversion in all operation ranges with acceptable harmonic ripple currents. This paper compares and analyzes appropriate PWM schemes for the PV PCS in the view points of conversion efficiency and current harmonics.
In this paper, a capacitance estimation scheme for DC-link capacitors for single-phase AC/DC PWM converters is proposed. Under the no-load condition, a controlled AC current (30[Hz]) is injected into the input side, which then causes AC voltage ripples at the DC output side. Or, a controlled AC voltage can be directly injected into the DC output side. By extracting the AC voltage/current and power components on the DC output side using digital filters, the capacitance value can be calculated, where the recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm is used. The proposed methods can be simply implemented with software only and additional hardware is not required. From the experiment results, a high accuracy estimation of capacitances less than 0.85% has been obtained.
In this paper, the authors propose a current control system for three phase PWM AC/DC converter without the source voltage sensors. The sinusoidal input current and unity effective power factor are realised based on the estimated source voltage in the controller. The estimation of source voltage is performed based on Luenberger observer using actual currents. The estimated source voltage is used to accomplish unity power factor. The proposed method is proved by simulations.
A novel control method of a three-phase PWM inverter with LC filter is proposed. The transfer function of LC filter is the same as that of 2nd order low pass filter(2nd LPF) which has a zero damping ratio. A simple method of implementing 2nd LPF with damping ratio is to add resistor to inductor or capacitor of LC filter. In an industrial application, it is not practical to adopt damping resistor because it results in losses being proportional to square of current flowing through resistor. Instead of using damping resistors, the proposed active damping control(ADC) utilizes all pass filter(APF) and considers inherent processing delay of digital controller. The overall transfer function of the proposed method is the same as a 2nd LPF and its damping ratio is also controllable via control variables. Detailed design and implementation of controller is also presented. Experiments are conducted with a 7.5kVA induction motor drive system controlled by PWM converter and inverter. Test waveforms are also presented to verify the proposed LC filter control algorithm.
This paper proposes a DC-DC boost converter for wearable AMOLED display using dead time controller to reduce dead time and improve power efficiency. Also the DC-DC boost converter adopts PWM-SPWM (set-time variable pulse width modulation) dual-mode to enhance power efficiency under light load and decrease output voltage ripple. The proposed circuit has been designed using $0.18{\mu}m$ BCDMOS process. Simulation results show that the circuit has power efficiency of 39%~96% and output ripple voltage of 2 mV under load current range of 1 mA~70 mA. The power efficiency of the proposed circuit is up to 2% higher than the previous PWM-SPWM method and up to 8% higher than only PWM method.
