The Differential Power Processing (DPP) converter is a promising multi-module photovoltaic inverter architecture recently proposed for photovoltaic systems. In this paper, a DPP converter architecture, in which each PV-panel has its own DPP converter in shunt, performs distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) control. It maintains a high energy conversion efficiency, even under partial shading conditions. The system architecture only deals with the power differences among the PV panels, which reduces the power capacity of the converters. Therefore, the DPP systems can easily overcome the conventional disadvantages of PCS such as centralized, string, and module integrated converter (MIC) topologies. Among the various types of the DPP systems, the feed-forward method has been selected for both its voltage balancing and power transfer to a modified H-bridge inverter that needs charge balancing of the input capacitors. The modified H-bridge multi-level inverter had some advantages such as a low part count and cost competitiveness when compared to conventional multi-level inverters. Therefore, it is frequently used in photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS). However, its simplified switching network draws input current asymmetrically. Therefore, input capacitors in series suffer from a problem due to a charge imbalance. This paper validates the operating principle and feasibility of the proposed topology through the simulation and experimental results. They show that the input-capacitor voltages maintain the voltage balance with the PV MPPT control operating with a 140-W hardware prototype.

In this study, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm based on the perturb and observe (P&O) method with variable step size is proposed to improve the dynamic response characteristic of MPPT, using the existing P&O method. The proposed algorithm, which we verified by simulation and experiment, can track the maximum power point (MPP) through duty control and consisted of three operation modes, namely, constant voltage mode, fast mode, and variable step mode. When the insolation is constant, the voltage variation of the operating point at the MPP is reduced through the step size reduction of the duty in the variable step mode. Consequently, the vibration of the operating point is reduced, and the power generation efficiency is increased. When the insolation changes, the duty and the photovoltaic (PV) voltage are kept constant through the constant voltage mode. The operating point then rapidly tracks the new MPP through the fast-mode operation at the end of the insolation change. When the MPP is reached, the operation is changed to the variable step mode to reduce the duty step size and track the MPP. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation and experiment of a PV system composed of a PV panel and a boost converter.

This paper presents an application of a multiphase interleaved converter in tracking maximum power points (MPPs) of a photovoltaic (PV) panel regardless of environmental variations. Maximum power from the panel was extracted by means of the well-known the perturb-and-observe (P&O) method. The switching control technique used an interleaving scheme based on multi-unit synchronization. The converter performed harmonic attenuation without affecting the tracking speed. This approach is straightforward, reliable and inexpensive, and could be applied to any higher number of switching cells without difficulty.
Power packet (PP) distribution system distributes power to different loads that share the same distribution cable in a packetized form. When compared with conventional power systems, a PP distribution system (PPDS) can reduce standby power, eliminate Point-of-Load (PoL) power conversion, and intelligently control the load demand from the source side. Due to the absence of PoL conversion, when multiple power sources at different voltage levels and conditioning requirements jointly send power to various loads at different voltage ratings, the generated voltage has an irregular shape. A large filter at each of the load sides is required to reduce such a large voltage ripple. In this paper, a single-inductor, multiple-input-single-output converter structure based multiple-energy-source mixer is proposed. It combines PP generation, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of renewable energy sources (RESs) and filtering at the source side. To demonstrate the possible renewable energy integration, a PV panel is used as a power source together with other constant voltage sources. The PV power is approximately tracked using the constant voltage method and it is used for each of the PP generations. The proposed PP distribution system is experimentally verified and it is shown that a conventional PI controller is sufficient for stable system operation.

This paper is proposed a novel method to approximate the maximum power for a photovoltaic inverter system and tracking method. It is designed for power systems application and utilities. The proposed Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) control has the advantage to provide a new simple way to approximate the optimal or rated voltage, the optimal or rated current and maximum power rating produced by a solar panel and the photovoltaic inverter. And this straightforward method will be named linear reoriented coordinates method(LRCM) with the advantage that Pmax and $V_{op}$ can be approximated using the satre variable as the dynamic model without using complicate approximations or Taylor series. Furthermore tracking method is improved over 50% photovoltaic efficiency. This paper is proposed MPPT using LRMC and tracking method using weather condition of domestic moderate program technique. This paper is proposed the experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the new methods.
This paper propose a new power conditioner topology with intelligent power management controller that integrates multiple renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy and fuel cell energy with battery backup to make best use of their operating characteristics and obtain better reliability than that could be obtained by single renewable energy based power supply. The proposed embedded controller is programmed for maintaining a constant voltage at PCC, maximum power point tracking for solar PV panel and WTG and power flow control by regulating the reference currents of the controller on instantaneous basis based on the power delivered by the sources and load demand. Instantaneous variation in reference currents of the controller enhances the controller response as it accommodates the effect of continuously varying solar insolation and wind speed in the power management. The power conditioner uses a battery bank with embedded controller based online SOC estimation and battery charging system to suitably sink or source the input power based on the load demand. The simulation results of the proposed power management system for a standalone solar/WTG/fuel cell fed hybrid power supply with real time solar radiation and wind velocity data collected from solar centre, KEC for a sporadically varying load demand is presented in this paper and the results are encouraging in reliability and stability perspective.

In this study, we analyze the performance characteristics of Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) system of K Research Building which was designed with the aim of zero carbon building. In addition, BIPV system, which is consist of three modules; G to G(Glass to Glass), G to T(Glass to Tedlar/Crystal) and Amorphous, has 116.2kWp of total capacity, and is applied to wall, window, atrium and pagora on roof. Therefore, in this paper, our research team analyzed BIPV yield and generation characteristic. BIPV yield was 112,589kWh a year from January 2012 to December 2012. And after applying PV panels on the building, the power from the best setting angle, $30^{\circ}$, of panel was compared. In addition, when the PV was attached practically on the building, the generation power was analyzed. BIPV modules in this study the relationship between module setting angle, type of modules ect. and power characteristics plans to identify.
This paper implements a simultaneous solar and thermal energy harvesting system, as a hybrid energy harvesting (HEH) system, to convert ambient light into electrical energy through photovoltaic (PV) cells and heat absorbed in the body of PV cells. Indeed, a solar panel equipped with serially connected thermoelectric generators not only converts the incoming light into electricity but also takes advantage of heat emanating from the light. In a conventional HEH system, the diode block is used to provide the path for the input source with the highest value. In this scheme, at each time, only one source can be handled to generate its output, while other sources are blocked. To handle this challenge of combining resources in HEH systems, this paper proposes a method for collecting all incoming energies and conveying its summation to the load via the current mirror cells in an approach similar to the maximum power point tracking. This technique is implemented using off-the-shelf components. The measurement results show that the proposed method is a realistic approach for supplying electrical energy to wireless sensor nodes and low-power electronics.

Recently, solar photovoltaic(PV) power generation which generates electrical power from solar panels composed of multiple solar cells, showed the most prominent growth in the renewable energy sector worldwide. However, in spite of increased demand and need for a photovoltaic power generation, it is difficult to early detect defects of solar panels and equipments due to wide and irregular distribution of power generation. In this paper, we choose an optimal machine learning algorithm for estimating the generation amount of solar power by considering several panel information and climate information and develop a defect detection system by using the chosen algorithm generation. Also we apply the algorithm to a domestic solar photovoltaic power plant as a case study.

In this paper, 1-axis tracking mechanism of solar-cell panel, which is able to rotate from -90 degree to +90 degree for maintaining always perpendicular between solar-cell panel and sun, was analyzed. This paper propose the non-linear shaped guidance and analyze mathematical formulation of non-linear shape. This analysis shows that it is able to identify the non-linear shaped guidance. Especially, even though the length of rotating link have changed, the non-linear shaped guidance could be confirm with proper size. As effectiveness of this result, 10% efficiency rising is estimated compared to the conventional 1-axis tracking mechanism and also optimal non-linear shaped guidance can be suggested for various size of solar-cell panel. Therefore the flexible mass-production is possible for various size of non-linear shaped guidance.
