A Novel Photovoltaic Power Generation System including the Function of Shunt Active Filter

  • With significant development of power electronics technology, the proliferation of nonlinear loads such as static power converters has deteriorated power quality in power transmission and distribution systems. Notably, voltage harmonics resulting from current harmonics produced by the nonlinear loads have become a serious problem in many countries. Many photovoltaic power generation systems installed in building systems have harmonics that are the worst object for distribution systems as a utility interactive system, and it tends to spread out continuously. Proposed and implemented in this paper is a multi-function inverter control strategy that allows a shunt active filter function to the power inverter of the photovoltaic power generation system established on a building system. The effectiveness of the proposed system is demonstrated through the simulation of a hypothetical power system using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • Recently, the development of renewable energy using solar energy is drawing attention. One of these PV systems, the Dual buck Inverter, is one of the topologies used in conjunction with the system, characterized by high efficiency and shoot-through reduction. However, current distortion appears severely in grid connection. So, in this paper, the method of compensation through PR controller was verified through simulation as an analysis of current distortion components and a control method to improve them.

  • The construct of photovoltaic module array, main power source of photovoltaic system, is very important to the efficiency improvement of whole photovoltaic system. Photovoltaic modules are usually connected in series or parallel to meet power capacity required. Since output characteristics of a photovoltaic module are greatly fluctuated on the variation of insolation, temperature and its type, the maximum open circuit voltage and output operating voltage of photovoltaic module array must exist in the admissible input voltage range of inverter system under any operating conditions. In this paper, we present the selection and array method of photovoltaic modules through simulation for the coupling loss reduction between photovoltaic modules and a inverter.

  • This paper presents a current-source-inverter based on a buck-boost configuration and its application for residential photovoltaic system. The proposed circuit has five switches. Among them, only one switch acts as chopping, and the other determine the polarity of output; therefore, it can reduce the switching loss. Because the input inductor current is operated on the discontinuous conduction mode, high power factor can be achieved without additional input current controller. So the overall system shows a simple structure. The operational modes are analysed in depth, and then it was verified through the experimental results using a 150 W prototype.

  • An investigation into power conditioners that interface with photovoltaic array and utilities has been completed. The rating for this investigation is residential system(3-5kVA) that interface with a 220V single phase utility connection. As the result of this investigation, a 3kVA high frequency PWM IGBT inverter feeding a high frequency isolation transformer with a sinusoidal current wave was selected. The output of the transformer rectified with a diode bridge rectifier. four IGBT, used as 60Hz switched, reverse the polarity of the rectified current on every other half cycle of the utility voltage. Even though the high frequency link system used more power semiconductors, a net size, weight, and parts cost saving result compared to the other systems due to elimination of 60Hz transformer.

  • 현재 단상 태양광 인버터 분야에서는 고효율을 달성하는 것과 태양전지의 기생 커패시터에 의해 발생하는 지전류를 저감하는 기술이 큰 이슈가 되고 있다. 대중에게 알려진 단상 태양광 인버터 토폴로지로는 풀브릿지, H5, H6, HERIC (high efficiency and reliable inverter concept)등이 있다. 본 논문에서는 풀 브릿지 회로의 바이폴라, 유니폴라 및 하이브리드 변조방식과 H5, H6, HERIC 회로에 대해서 시뮬레이션과 시제품 제작을 통하여 작동원리를 파악하고, 효율과 지전류를 비교하도록 하겠다.

  • 계통연계형 태양광인버터의 경우 실외 설치가 일반화 됨에따라, 계통현경 및 주위환경의 영향을 받게 된다. 특히 부하 말단, 다수대 병렬 운전의 경우에 있어 계통 고장상황에 따른 고장 모드 설계가 필요하다. 이러한 고장 모드 설계에 대해 소개한다.

  • A modular photovoltaic PCS with high-frequency isolation is proposed. The proposed system consists of a SEPIC converter and a full-bridge inverter. Using the power slope versus voltage of the PV array, the MPPT controller is proposed that produces a smooth transition to the maximum power point. The disturbance of the line voltage is detected using a fast sensing technique. Experimental results obtained on a 500W prototype show high performance such as almost unity power factor, $90\%$ power efficiency, $3.6\%$ THD.

  • The rising popularity of renewable energy sources resulted in development of the units of higher rated powers. As a result of the limited power handling capacity of individual devices, paralleling is the choice to increase the equipment rating, while keeping the THD of the current at the PCC within the agency specified standards. And their typical power circuit configuration limits the stress on individual devices to an appreciable extent. The main scope of this paper is the analysis of filter structure in paralleling inverter system's operation. Simulation results are shown to verify the theoretical analysis.
