A current compensation method to reduce the mismatch loss in PV systems is proposed as a way to increase the power generation efficiency. A dc-dc converter is used to supply currents to irregular modules in a PV string and is powered from the string output. The converter's voltage conversion ratio is adjusted so that all the modules in the string are operated at the maximum power point. The power rating and size of the converter can be reduced since only the current difference between the regular and irregular module may be supplied. The compensated string shows very little voltage mismatch compared to other regular strings. The validity of the proposed method is verified through a simulation and experiments in a prototype PV system.
Grid-connected transformerless photovoltaic (PV) inverters (TPVIs) are increasingly dominating the market due to their higher efficiency, lower cost, lighter weight, and reduced size when compared to their transformer based counterparts. However, due to the lack of galvanic isolation in the low voltage grid interconnections of these inverters, the PV systems become vulnerable to leakage currents flowing through the grounded star point of the distribution transformer, the earth, and the distributed parasitic capacitance of the PV modules. These leakage currents are prohibitive, since they constitute an issue for safety, reliability, protection coordination, electromagnetic compatibility, and module lifetime. This paper investigates a wide range of multi-kW range power rating TPVI topologies and classifies them in terms of their leakage current attributes. This systematic classification places most topologies under a small number of classes with basic leakage current attributes. Thus, understanding and evaluating these topologies becomes an easy task. In addition, based on these observations, new topologies with reduced leakage current characteristics are proposed in this paper. Furthermore, the important efficiency and cost determining characteristics of converters are studied to allow design engineers to include cost and efficiency as deciding factors in selecting a converter topology for PV applications.
We present a two-stage inverter with high step-up conversion ratio engaging modified finite-set Model Predictive Control (MPC) for utility-integrated photovoltaic (PV) applications. The anticipated arrangement is fit for low power PV uses, the calculated efficiency at 150 W input power and 19 times boosting ratio was around 94%. The suggested high-gain dc-dc converter based on Cockcroft-Walton multiplier constitutes the first-stage of the offered structure, due to its high step-up ability. It can boost the input voltage up to 20 times. The 3S current-source inverter constitutes the second-stage. The 3S current-source inverter hires three semiconductor switches, in which one is functioning at high-frequency and the others are operating at fundamental-frequency. The high-switching pulses are varied in the procedure of unidirectional sine-wave to engender a current coordinated with the utility-voltage. The unidirectional current is shaped into alternating current by the synchronized push-pull configuration. The MPC process are intended to control the scheme and achieve the subsequent tasks, take out the Maximum Power (MP) from the PV, step-up the PV voltage, and introduces low current with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and with unity power factor with the grid voltage.

Solar cell converts light energy to electric energy. But a solar cell generates low power, PV module is fabricated by connected in series with dozens of solar cell. Owing to solar cell connected in series, power of PV module is influenced by shading or mismatch power of solar cells. To prevent power loss of PV module by shading or mismatch current, Bypass diodes are installed in PV module. Bypass diode operating reverse voltage by shading or mismatch power of solar cells bypass mismatch current. However, bypass diode in module exposed outdoor is easily damaged by surge voltage. In this paper, we confirm characteristics variation of PV module with damaged bypass diode. As a result, power of PV module with damaged bypass diode is reduced and Temperature of that is increased.
In general, the output voltage level of a PV array varies widely at various irradiances and temperatures. The MPP (Maximum Power Point) range of a medium- or high-power PV PCS is normally 450~830Vdc or 300~600Vdc. This means the PV PCS should operate in a wide range of modulation indexes. The PV PCS should satisfy the harmonic current requirement that the TDD (Total demand distortion) shall not exceed 5%. This paper proposes a new PWM control method for a medium- or high-power PV PCS which increases the efficiency of power conversion in all operation ranges with acceptable harmonic ripple currents. This paper compares and analyzes appropriate PWM schemes for the PV PCS in the view points of conversion efficiency and current harmonics.
Installed PV module in field is affected by shading caused by various field environmental factors. Bypass diodes are installed in PV module for preventing a power loss and degradation of PV module by shading. But, Bypass diode is easily damaged by surge voltage and has often initial a defect. This paper propose the electric characteristic variation and the power prediction of PV module with damaged bypass diode. Firstly, the resistance for normal bypass diode and damaged bypass diode of resistance was measured by changing the current. When the current increases, the resistance of normal bypass diode is almost constant but the resistance of damaged bypass diode increases. Next, To estimate power of PV module by damaged bypass diode, the equation for the current is derived using solar cell equivalent circuit. Finally, the derived equation was simulated by using MatLab tools, was verified by comparing experimental data.
In the newly developed control method, the current flowing into SPE cell is the only one considerable factor. So, the structure of control circuit becomes simple and the manufacturing cost of the control device decreases. In conventional power comparison MPPT control method however, a voltage and current coming out from PV cell should be feedbacked to chase maximum power point at every moment. Then, the structure of control circuit becomes so complex and the risk of control failure is much higher than the novel MPPT control method. Therefore, PV generation system by a novel MPPT control method is especially operated much more safely in case of a huge system, because the voltage coming out from PV-cell is not needed to be feedbacked. In this paper, the PV-SPR system was actually manufactured based on the simulation model of PSCAD/EMTDC program and the results tested were shown. Authors are sure that it is the most useful method to maximize power from PV to SPE with only a feedback of SPE input current.

This narrative review introduces global trends in pharmacovigilance (PV) education for healthcare professionals and the status of PV education in Korea. Proactive participation of healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and nurses in reporting suspected adverse events is the main driving force for effective operation of the spontaneous adverse event reporting system database, which in turn facilitates early safety signal detection of otherwise unknown suspected adverse events. The World Health Organization recognizes PV education curriculum as a key aspect in promoting awareness of PV and adverse event reporting among healthcare professionals, and multiple studies have demonstrated that PV educational interventions for healthcare professionals have increased overall adverse event reporting. Considering the global trends in PV education, the curriculum in Korean universities still has room for improvement in promoting PV obligation among future healthcare professionals. Further research is needed to develop PV education curriculum. We suggest a three-step project for innovating PV education in Korea to meet the global PV educational standards: a survey to gauge current PV competencies among healthcare professionals, reform of current PV academic curriculum, and evaluation and fine-tuning of the reformed curriculum.
Techniques for mismatch loss minimization to increase the PV system efficiency are under development recently. In this paper, a method to make diagnosis of PV module mismatch is presented, which uses a concept of operating point factor. The method is based on the fact that the ratio of the incremental conductance of a PV module to instantaneous conductance is 1 when the module is operating at its maximum power point. The variations of module voltage and current are taking place by the maximum power point tracker in the power conditioning units of PV system. The effectiveness of the method is verified through an application to a real PV system.
This paper proposes a transformerless photovoltaic (PV) power converter system based on the DC/AC boost inverter, which can solve the leakage current and second-order ripple power issues in single-phase grid-connected PV inverters. In the proposed topology, the leakage current can be decreased remarkably since most of the common-mode currents flow through the output capacitor, by-passing parasitic capacitors, and grounding resistors. In addition, the inherent ripple power component in the single-phase grid inverter can be suppressed without adding any extra components. Therefore, bulky electrolytic capacitors can be replaced by small film capacitors. The effectiveness of the proposed topology has been verified by simulation and experimental results for a 1-kW PV PCS.
