The estimation of available solar energy at particular locations is critical to find and assess suitable locations of PV sites. The amount of PV power generation is however affected by various geographical factors (e.g., weather), which may make it difficult to identify the complex relationship between affecting factors and power outputs and to apply findings from one study to another in different locations. This study thus undertakes a regression analysis using data collected from 172 PV plants spatially distributed in Korea to identify critical weather conditions and estimate the potential power generation of PV systems. Such data also include solar radiation, precipitation, fine dust, humidity, temperature, cloud amount, sunshine duration, and wind speed. The estimated PV power generation is then compared to the actual PV power generation to evaluate prediction performance. As a result, the proposed model achieves a MAPE of 11.696(%) and an R-squred of 0.979. It is also found that the variables, excluding humidity, are all statistically significant in predicting the efficiency of PV power generation. According, this study may facilitate the understanding of what weather conditions can be considered and the estimation of PV power generation for evaluating and determining suitable locations of PV facilities.
This paper analyses the economics of 50kW PV system installed in Tibet and using domestic technology. We show that this system can be expanded to very large-scale photovoltaic power generation [VLS-PV] system successfully. Based on this result, we conduct the economic analysis of 100MW VLS-PV system designed assuming that it will be installed from 2008 to 2017 in Tibet. In this analysis, future price of PV module and system are estimated based on the methodology of experience curve. In 50kW PV system, the generation cost is calculated at 567.2 won/kWh and this is lower than the one of domestic PV system. In future 100MW VLS-PV system. the generation cost is calculated at 305.4 won/kWh by declining system price. If the lifetime and efficiency of the system goes up, due to future technological improvements, the generation cost can be lowered. Moreover, under the environmental and political effect, VLS-PV system can be as competitive as the conventional energy within 20 years.
Recently, the importance prediction of photovoltaic power (PV) is considered as an essential function for scheduling adjustments, deciding on storage size, and overall planning for stable operation of PV facility systems. In particular, since most of PV power is generated in peak time, PV power prediction in a peak time is required for the PV system operators that enable to maximize revenue and sustainable electricity quantity. Moreover, Prediction of the PV power output in peak time without meteorological information such as solar radiation, cloudiness, the temperature is considered a challenging problem because it has limitations that the PV power was predicted by using predicted uncertain meteorological information in a wide range of areas in previous studies. Therefore, this paper proposes the LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory) based the PV power prediction model only using the meteorological, seasonal, and the before the obtained PV power before peak time. In this paper, the experiment results based on the proposed model using the real-world data shows the superior performance, which showed a positive impact on improving the PV power in a peak time forecast performance targeted in this study.
This study aims to suggest the PV lightshelf and to evaluate the power performance of the photovoltaic systems easily mounted on the windows. For the study, the suggested systems consist of two parts as fixed and movable PV modules. Also, tempered glass and polycarbonate are used on the surface protection materials for solar cells of PV lightshelf. By using polycarbonate, the weight of PV lightshelf is lighter about 20%. The field tests are performed for five days by using real size models. The voltage, current and electric powers are measured as basic performances of PV lightshelf. Also, the irradiation, brightness and module surface temperature are measured as outside conditions. As results, the power performance of tempered glass PV lightshelf shows about 11(%) higher thant that of polycarbonate PV lightshelf. And the power performance shows about 5(%) higher in a horizontal system. This results could be used to develop the effective PV lightshelf in next study.
This study aimed to investigate the feasibility and potential applications of utilizing bifacial photovoltaic (PV) panels from an architectural perspective. It also aimed to establish a foundational dataset for installation and operational guidelines for bifacial PV panels through a comparative analysis of energy production performance with single PV panels. The research encompassed several key steps, including a comprehensive literature review, calculation of solar surface radiation values, development of datasets for bifacial and single PV energy production, and a performance comparison between both approaches. The results of the study show that bifacial PV panels exhibit optimized energy production capabilities within the range of 40 to 80 degrees, contingent upon the specific installation location. Consequently, it is recommended that the installation of bifacial PV panels in Korea should primarily focus on southwest-to-west orientation. Furthermore, it was concluded that bifacial PV panels could contribute an equivalent or even superior level of energy production compared to single PV panels, even if their performance exhibited a marginally lower efficiency of 2% to 5% with an 18% power generation efficiency.

This thesis is based on the research and experiment of the optimal efficiency generation of electric power. The research and experiment were conducted to search the optimal generation of electric power from a specific amount of solar energy from Photovoltaic Power System with a solar position tracker were used. The changes in the array angles and spacing of the PV Module were also taken into account as well. Here are the findings and the conclusions. First of all, based on experiment using the various anglers, the efficiency generation of electric power increased to a maximum of approximately $12{\sim}17$[%] more at the PV module inclination angle of 30[$^{\circ}$] than at the inclination angles of 20[$^{\circ}$] and 40[$^{\circ}$]. As a result, we have found that installing the PV module inclination at the angle of 30[$^{\circ}$] brought about the most efficient conversion effect of the Photovoltaic Power System. But, when the solar cell is installed on a roof or rooftop where snow builds up, it is the most appropriate to install the solar energy at an 35[$^{\circ}$] angle so that snow slides down and not build up on the module.
