The size of various alumina ceramics used in semiconductor and display industry is also required to increase with increase in wafer and panel size. In this research, large alumina ceramics was fabricated by filter pressing of alumina slurry using commercial powder and thereafter sintering at $1600^{\circ}C$ in gas furnace. The characteristics of large alumina ceramics thereby were compared to those of small alumina ceramics prepared by pressure forming such as uniaxial pressing and CIP. Careful control of properties of alumina slurry and filter pressing made the fabrication of large alumina ceramics possible, and its characteristics were equivalent to those of small alumina ceramics. The large alumina ceramics, prepared by sintering the green body of 63% relative density at $1600^{\circ}C$, exhibited both dense microstructure corresponding to 98.5% of relative density and 99.8% of high purity as in starting powder.

The effect of rubber mold on densification behavior of pure iron powder was investigated under cold isostatic pressing. The thickness effect of rubber mold was also studied. The elastoplastic constitutive equation based on the yield function of Shima and Oyane was implemented into the finite element program(ABAQUS) to predict compaction responses of metal powder under cold isostatic pressing. The hyperelastic constitutive equation based on Moony-Rivlin and Ogden strain energy potentials was also employed to analyze deformation of rubber mold. The coefficients of the strain energy potentials were obtained from tension and volumetric compression data of rubber. Finite element results were compared with experimental data for densification of pure iron powder under cold isostatic pressing.
Cu-W composites containing 20wt.% W were fabricated by hot pressing. Hot pressing was carried out at temperatures ranging from 800 to $1000^{\circ}C$ under pressures of 15MPa for 30MPa for 30min and 60min. This process gave composites of higher density, higher hardness and higher wear resistance than the conventional sintering processes. However, the microstructure of Cu-W composites under pressure of 15MPa revealed there was an inhomogeneous distribution of W, segregation of W on some area. These undesirable results are attributed to the immiscibility of W in Cu and the pressure effect on sintering.
In early 1970s, Electronic Manometers were researched and developed for modernization and objectification of pulse diagnosis. Method of finger pressing, also known as cuffs pressing, is essential for sensing a pulse wave. I think comprehension and deduction of problem from the existing Hi-soo type electronic manometer, will be important for making a better one. The Hi-soo type electronic manometer is constructed of cuff pressing type sensor, differential amplifier, transmitter and recorder. Pulse movement and pulse wave, gauging blood flow, is analyzed by pulse image of "Yixuerumen(醫學入門)". At standard of pulse wave, huanmai(緩脈) is distinguish from chishu(slow and fast, 遲數), fushen(float and sink, 浮沈), interference wave, modificated wave, and phase angel. The Hi-soo type electronic manometer had no explanation of formational mechanism, significantly different with pulse wave which is early known and reported. The strength of Hi-soo type electric manometer is use of cuff pressing type sensor. Above all, the importance of electric manometer is reading the pulse movement accurately then expressing it as pulse wave. From now on the improvement of precise sensor should make a progress.

One of the main drawbacks of wood fibers based composite materials are their tendency to swell due to moisture uptake in wet and moist environments. The main contribution to the hygroexpansion usually comes from the hydrophilic wood fibers. Recent trend toward the high speed printing, copying, and precision converting precesses demands a high level of dimensional stability under various environmental conditions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dimensional stability of softwood bleached kraft pulp handsheets depending on wet pressing conditions. By increasing the number of wet pressing, dimensional stability was decreased because of increased fiber-to-fiber bonding. Hygroexpansion of handsheets had a linear relationship with the relative bonded area and equilibrium moisture contents. Dip elongation was decreased when the number of wet pressing was increased because of increased fiber-to-fiber bonding to resist low load in water.
The aim of this study was to develop a Mo and V free low alloy cast steel materials, enabling the significant cost- and time-savings in manufacturing and maintaining the insert of cold pressing die without impairment of the important properties. For this purpose, the effects of Si content on combinations of important properties such as hardness, hardenability, and weldability, and strength were systematically investigated. In order to evaluate the applicability as the insert of cold pressing die, the mechanical properties were measured after spheroidization annealing, quenching and tempering, and flame hardening heat treatments, respectively. After the Q/T and F.H. treatments, the developed 0.8${\sim}$1.6%Si containing Mo and V free low alloy cast steels showed excellent matrix strengthening effect, hardenability, and weldability, fulfilling the industrial criterion of the mechanical properties for automobile cold pressing die insert.
IPS-empress system is one of widely used all ceramic system. The purpose of this study was to determine the pressing accuracy of reused IPS%Empress ingot. 10 specimens were made using new ingot first, and using the rests of the specimen the another group of specimens were made next. finally, the third group of specimens were made with same procedure mentioned above. The results obtained in this study were as follows ; 1. The pressing accuracy of the first group of specimen was 96.1%, that of the second group was 95.4%, and that of the third group was 95.4%. There was no statistical significance among them, that is, the reuse of the IPS-Empress ingot did not influence on the pressing accuracy. 2. the common site of the defect in pressed ingot was central area at the margin opposite of sprue hole.

$Nd_{12.5}Fe_{80.6}B_{6.4}Ga_{0.3}Nb_{0.2}$ HDDR-treated powder was compacted by hot-pressing using different configurations of dies and heating rates. The die configurations were especially different in terms of the evacuation system that was used in heating for hot-pressing. The coercivity in the compacts was influenced by the evacuation system of the die and heating rate. In spite of the identical hot-pressing temperature and heating rate, coercivity was radically reduced above $600^{\circ}C$ in the compacts prepared in the closed-type die compared to that in the compacts prepared in the open-type die. The coercivity in the compacts prepared in the closed-type die decreased with increasing heating rate and the value further increased when extreme high heating rate was employed. $Nd_{12.5}Fe_{80.6}B_{6.4}Ga_{0.3}Nb_{0.2}$ HDDR-treated powder contained a significant amount of residual hydrogen (approx. 1500 ppm) in the form of $Nd_2Fe_{14}BH_x$ hydride. The dramatic coercivity decrease in the compact prepared in the closed die is attributed to the disproportionation of $Nd_2Fe_{14}BH_x$ hydride. High coercivity is mainly due to the effective desorption of hydrogen or the suppression of hydrogen-related disproportionation upon hot-pressing.
Development of texture in SiC materials by hot-pressing and subsequent annealing was studied. Crystallographic texture type was characterized by measuring X-ray pole figures on the perpendicular plane to the hot-pressing direction. Observed all pole figures were nearly axially symmetric (fiber texture). In case of ${\beta}$-SiC materials, the pole density of basal plane (0004) increased as annealing time increased, in contrast, other planes (hkil) of ${\beta}$-SiC materials and all planes of ${\alpha}$-SiC materials nearly remained unchanged. In the case of ${\beta}$-SiC materials, therefore, a weak texture of (0001) plane at the normal direction took place in the 8h annealed samples, resulting from grian growth. The fracture toughness values of ${\alpha}$-SiC materials measured in both planes parallel and perpendicular to the hot-pressing direction were very similar. However, the fracture toughness of ${\beta}$-SiC materials measured parallel to the hot-pressing direction were higher than that measured perpendicular to the hot-pressing derection, relatively, because of the texture and the microstructure anisotropy.
Thermoelectric $Zn_4Sb_3$ alloys were synthesized by a conventional powder metallurgy process consisting of solid state reaction and hot pressing. Single phase $Zn_4Sb_3$ was successfully produced by the annealing of cold compact starting with the mixed elemental powders, and subsequent hot pressing yielded single phase bulk specimens without microcracks. Phase transformations in this alloy system during synthesis were investigated using XRD, SEM and EDS. Thermoelectric properties as a function of temperature were investigated from room temperature to 600 K and compared with results of analogue studies. Transport properties at room temperature were also evaluated. Thermoelectric properties of single phase $Zn_4Sb_3$ materials produced by this process are comparable to the published data. Synthesis by solid state reaction and hot pressing offers a potential processing route to produce a bulk $Zn_4Sb_3$.ٓ
