In this paper, we consider a cascaded type of control architecture for a multi motor-based feedback control system and propose an ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) resource allocation method to efficiently utilize the limited ADC resources. The purpose of the resource allocation method is to minimize both the motor position measurement error and the d-q current measurement error. The cascaded type of control architecture is applied in parallel to each motor to independently control the speed of a motor in the multi motor control system. All the control algorithms are implemented by software using a single microcontroller without using additional microcontrollers. It is illustrated by experiments that the speed and the torque of each motor are controlled precisely by the proposed control architecture with the efficient ADC allocation method.

Generally, a voltage difference or voltage distortion exists between the reference voltage and the practical voltage applied to a motor in a pulse width modulated(PWM) voltage source inverter(VSI). This voltage distortion varies with the operating conditions such as the temperature, DC link voltage, and phase current level. Also the voltage distortion affects the machine current distortion, torque pulsations, and control performance. In this paper, the voltage distortion in a PWM VSI is analyzed and a new on-line estimation method based on the model reference adaptive system(MRAS) is proposed to compensate the time varying voltage distortion, while considering the parameter variations for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed voltage difference observer and the compensation method.

This paper proposes a dead time compensation method for an AC motor drive using phase current polarity information which is detected based on a digital programmable low-pass filter (PLPF). The polarity detection using the PLPF is an alternative solution of a conventional method which uses a general low-pass filter (LPF) and hysteresis bands in order to avoid jittering due to noises. The PLPF not only adjusts its cutoff frequency according to the synchronous frequency of AC motors but also eliminates a gain attenuation and phase delay which are main problems of the general LPF. Through the PLPF, a fundamental component signal without gain and phase distortions is extracted from the measured raw current signal with noise. By use of the fundamental component, the polarity of current is effectively detected by reducing the hysteresis band. Finally, the proposed method compensates the dead time effects by adding or subtracting average voltage value to voltage references of the controller according to the detected current polarity information. The proposed compensation method is experimentally verified by compared with the conventional method.
Electric vehicles (EV) demands for greater acceleration, performance and vehicle range in pure electric vehicles plus mandated requirements to further reduce emissions in hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) increase the appeal for combined on-board energy storage systems and generators. And the power electronics plays an important role in providing an interface between fuel cells (FC) and loads. This paper deals with a multiple input DC-DC power converter devoted to combine the power flowing of multi-source on energy systems. The multi-source is composed of (i) FC system as a prime power demands, (ii) super capacitor banks as energy storage devices for high and intense power demands, (iii) superconducting magnetic energy storage system (SMES), (iv) multiple input DC-DC power converter and (v) a three phase inverter-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor as a drive. In this system, It is used super capacitor banks and superconducting magnetic energy replaces from the battery system. The modeling and transient performance simulation is effective for reducing transient influence caused by sudden charge of effective load. The main purpose of power electronic converters is to convert the DC power output from the fuel cell and other to a suitable AC voltage, which can be connected to electric loads directly (PMSM). The fuel cell and other output is connected to the DC-DC converter, which regulates the DC link voltage.
A compensation algorithm targeting for torque development from a SPMSM including a low speed operation is presented in this paper. As known, PM flux linkage in SPMSM is varied by temperature. Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) uses the calculated PM flux linkage, and torque error occurs due to change of PM flux linkage. In the manuscript, estimated PM flux linkage is obtained using a stator flux observer. The torque error is corrected using the estimated PM flux linkage. The proposed algorithm is implemented and verified in simulation and experiment.
The next generation domestic high speed railway system is a power dispersed type and uses vector control method for motor speed control. Nowadays, inverter driven induction motor system is widely used. However, recently PMSM drives are deeply considered as a alternative candidate instead of an induction motor driven system due to their advantages in efficiency, noise reduction and maintenance. In this paper, the maximum torque control approach is presented for the IPMSM drives with reluctance torque. The applied control method uses maximum torque control per ampere technique. Simulation programs based on Matlab/Simulink are developed. Finally the designed system is verified by simulation and their characteristics are analyzed by the simulation results.

In this paper, improvement method of control performance by a full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is proposed in the low speed range. Full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is the motor speed and the disturbance torque observer. The proposed algorithm is very stable in the low speed range about 1.9[rpm]. The disturbance torque in the motor drive system degrades speed control performance in the low speed range. The proposed algorithm estimated both motor speed and disturbance torque. The estimated disturbance torque is used as a feedforward value in output of the speed controller, As a result, it improves the response of load torque in the low speed range(1.9rpm).

This paper presents a vector control implementation for SPMSM(Surface-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using dSPACE 1104 system and MATLAB/SIMULINK. SPMSM can be treated as a DC motor provided that currents of flux and torque component are controlled independently using vector control. Therefore various control algorithms for conventional DC motor control can be adopted to SPMSM. The system is designed to improve set-point tracking capability, fast response, and accuracy In This paper, d-q equivalent modeling of PMSM is derived based on vector control theory. PI controller is used for speed control and decoupling PI controller is used for current control. For the implementation of high performance vector control system, dSPACE 1104 system is used. Experiments were carried out to examine validity of the proposed vector control implementation.

This paper describes the design, manufacture, and testing of servos applicable to small tracking radars. First, Chapter 1 describes the necessity of this study. Chapter 2 describes the development of servos applicable to future tracking radars in small missile systems. Chapter 3 describes the design and test results for current control of brushed DC motors, brushless DC motors, and permanent magnet synchronous motors. And Chapter 4 describes the design and test results for speed control of the test wheel. And in Chapter 5, the results of the previous tests are summarized. In this paper, some pictures were intentionally blurred for security reasons, and the control result of test wheel was described, not the test with the developed gimbals.

In this study, the sinusoidal-wave driving method, six-step driving method, and twelve-step driving method, which can be used in an inverter for permanent-magnet synchronous motors, were simulated, and the results were compared to review their operating performance. These driving methods were classified according to the electrical conduction angle and phase current of the motor. Conventionally, only the transition control technique between the sinusoidal-wave driving method and six-step driving method was studied for the efficiency of the inverter. In this paper, however, comparative analysis was focused on a variety of transition control applications to use the advantages of each driving method. For this purpose, computer simulations for these driving methods were carried out to obtain the motor torque, speed control characteristics, and THD of the motor phase currents. As a result, the sinusoidal-wave driving method showed the best performance in all respects. The six-step driving method has better speed control characteristics than the twelve-step driving method, and the twelve-step driving method has a lower THD of the motor phase currents than the six-step driving method.
