축방향 자속형 영구자석 BLDC 전동기의 코깅 토크 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cogging Torque Reduction in a Novel Axial Flux Permanent Magnet BLDC Motor)

  • Cogging torque, the primary ripple component in the torque generated by permanent magnet (PM) motors, is due to the slotting on the stator or rotor. This article shows the reduction of cogging torque in a novel axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) motor through the various design schemes. 3D finite element method is used for the exact magnetic field analysis. The effects of slot shapes and skewing of slot on the cogging torque and the average torque have been investigated in detail.

  • This paper presents a ripple reduction of BLDC motor using TMS320F240. A fault of permanent magnet(PM) BLDC motor possible to miniaturization and high-output is to be difficult to reduce speed-ripple at low speed region. An existing solution is to be use of PWM waveform by PI control with computing control angle of 60$^{\circ}$. The new family of DSP controllers provides a single chip solution by integrating on-chip not only a high computational power but also, all the peripherals necessary for electric motor control. This paper gives an advanced solution of the SVPWM technique for the purpose of reducing control angel rather than 60$^{\circ}$. This technique gives an excellent speed ripple characteristic.

  • 본 논문에서는 고정자의 제 3고조파 전압 성분을 이용하여 브러시리스 직류 전동기의 회전자 위치를 간접 검출하는 방법을 제안하였다. 3고조파 성분은 회전자의 위치 정보를 가지고 있고 이 전압을 이용하여 전환 신호(Commutation signal)를 만들어 낼 수 있다. 따라서 전환 신호를 이용하여 구형파 전류 여자 브러시리스 직류 전동기를 센서리스로 운전하는 방식은 상지연 필터가 필요하지 않고 하드웨어적으로 전류의 전환 시점이 결정되므로 센서리스 드라이브용 프로세서의 부담을 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 역기전력 파형과 상전류가 비교적 정확한 동기를 유지할 수 있으므로 넓은 속도 범위에서 안정적인 센서리스 운전이 가능한 방법이다.

  • BLDC 전동기의 코깅토크는 영구자석과 철심의 상호작용에 의해 발생하고 소음과 진동을 발생시키는 요인이다. 제조 과정에서 조립 공차로 인해 영구자석이 회전자 철심 면에 제대로 붙지 않을 경우 BLDC 전동기의 전자기적 구조가 변할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 조립 공차로 인해 자석이 회전자 표면과 분리되었을 때 코깅토크에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구했다. 핵심적인 설계 요소들인 회전자와 자석 간 분리, 분리를 가진 자석 수, 이웃한 자석들 간의 여러 배치형태를 고려했다. 코깅토크 해석을 위해 유한요소법을 사용하였고, 소음진동을 발생시키지 않는 조립 공차를 제안했다. 제안된 조립 공차로 제작된 BLDC 전동기의 코깅토크는 감소되었고 소음진동 또한 줄어들 것이라고 판단된다.

  • Acoustic noise and vibration of a BLDC motor is a coupled phenomenon between mechanical characteristics and electromagnetic origins through the motor air-gap. When a relative misalignment of rotor in the air-gap center exists on the assemblage, it is considered to influence the motor system characteristics. In this paper, the back electro motive force(BEMF) is analyzed by Finite Element Method(FEM) and verified by experiments for the SPM and IPM type motors. For magnetic field analysis, a FEM is used to account for the magnetic saturation. Using these results, the FEM is made to determine the appropriate electromagnetic field analysis in BLDC motors with rotor eccentricity ratio. A radial magnetic imbalance force of BLDC motor with rotor eccentricity is analyzed. Results demonstrate that the imbalance force is increased according to the degree of misalignment. An IPM motor, mostly chosen to realize high-speed operation, shows a worse effect on magnetic unbalanced forces and dynamic responses compared with SPM motor due to magnetic saturation when the rotor eccentricity exists.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for the permanent magnet shape optimization of a large scale BLDC(Brushless DC) motor to minimize the cogging torque. A response surface method (RSM) using multiquadric radial basis function is employed to interpolate the objective function in design parameter space. In order to get a reasonable response surface with relatively small number of sampling data points, additional sampling points are added on the basis of design sensitivity analysis computed by using FEM. The algorithm has 2 stages: the first stage is to determine the PM arc angle, and the 2nd stage is to optimize the magnet pole shape. The developed algorithm is applied to a 5MW BLDC motor to get a minimum cogging torque. After 3 iterations with 4 design parameters, the cogging torque is reduced to 13.2% of the initial one.

  • Generally, the usage motor in the vehicle is exposed to highly ambient temperature and large vibration according to repeatedly starting and stopping during very short time. So, in this paper, the rotor shape design was performed to improve demagnetization endurance by considering starting current of Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) through Finite Element Method(FEM). As a result, the end of Permanent Magnet (PM) in the basic model was occurring a partial irreversible demagnetization by starting current. To solve this problem, the installing flux barrier was limited to flux line on the core. Accordingly, demagnetization endurance and operating characteristics were improved.

FPGA Based Robust Open Transistor Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Sliding Mode Control of Five-Phase PM Motor Drives

  • The voltage-source inverters (VSI) supplying a motor drive are prone to open transistor faults. To address this issue in fault-tolerant drives applicable to electric vehicles, a new open transistor fault diagnosis (FD) method is presented in this paper. According to the proposed method, in order to define the FD index, the phase angle of the converter output current is estimated by a simple trigonometric function. The proposed FD method is adaptable, simple, capable of detecting multiple open switch faults and robust to load operational variations. Keeping the FD in mind as a mandatory part of the fault tolerant control algorithm, the FD block is applied to a five-phase converter supplying a multiphase fault-tolerant PM motor drive with non-sinusoidal unbalanced current waveforms. To investigate the performance of the FD technique, the fault-tolerant sliding mode control (SMC) of a five-phase brushless direct current (BLDC) motor is developed in this paper with the embedded FD block. Once the theory is explained, experimental waveforms are obtained from a five-phase BLDC motor to show the effectiveness of the proposed FD method. The FD algorithm is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA).

  • The 7-phase BLDC motor is possible for higher efficiency per the unit area, high power and high speed due to the increasing number of phase. Also, it can be looking forward to reduce the current ripple at a point of commutation by the increasing number of phase. Thus, a study for applications of servo system, medical and military instruments is progressing about the BLDC motor is manufactured with multi-phase, currently. This paper is used the fuzzy logic control method for speed control of 7-phase BLDC motor and this is compared with the conventional PI controller using by simulation and experimental results for verification validity of the fuzzy logic controller in this system. The 7-phase BLDC motor and controller are modeled by PSIM6.0 software of PowerSim co. in simulation and we are experimented by the test board that is composed with TMS320VC33-150 DSP controller of Texas Instruments co. and FLEX EPF6016TC144-3 of ALTERA co.

  • Generally, Slotless PM BLDC drive system is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference and encoder be installed in case of the 3 phase motor. So, the Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor, and the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs and encoder, we used only two Hall-ICs for the permanent magnet rotor position and for the speed feedback signals, and also for a microcontroller of 16-bit type (80C196KC) with the 3 phase Slotless PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed. Two Hall-IC Hc and $H_B$ are placed on the endplate at 120 degree intervals, and with these elements, we can estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a rotating rotor.
