FT-IR/ATR analysis shows that the oriental lacquer coating network degrades mostly in the unsaturated side chain. The rate of increase in carbonyl intensity (a measure of photodegradation) during the accelerated weathering test was substantially different for the unstabilized and stabilized samples; adding 2 wt% HALS into the oriental lacquer formulation enhanced photostabilization up to three times. Weight loss measurements, another indication of photodegradation, and SEM analysis support this conclusion. Despite the presence of the photo-stabilizer, the other properties of the lacquer were not significantly affected. In particular, the curing behavior of purified lacquer (PL) and HALS-stabilized samples is similar, although the in-situ DETA analysis showed that addition of HALS can slightly retard the cure reaction rate in oriental lacquer coating. It is hypothesized that this cure retardation may be related to the salt formation between HALS and acid of oriental lacquer.
Manganese dependent peroxidase (MnP) is the most ubiquitous enzyme produced by white-rot fungi, MnP is known to be involved in lignin degradation, biobleaching and oxidation of hazardous organopollutants. Bjerkandera fumosa is a nitrogen-unregulated white-rot fungus, which produces high amounts of MnP in the excess of N-nutrients due to increased biomass yield. The objective of this study was to optimize the MnP production in N-sufficient cultures by varying different physiological factors such as Mn concentration, culture pH, and incubation temperature. The growth of fungus was optimal in pH 4.5 at $30^{\circ}C$, $N_2$-unregulated white-rot fungus produces high amounts of MnP in the excess N-nutrients. The fungus produced the highest level of MnP (up to $1000U/{\ell}$) with $0.25g/{\ell}$ asparagine and $1g/{\ell}$$NH_4Cl$ as N source at 1.5 mM $MnCl_2$ concentration, pH value of 4.5 at $30^{\circ}C$. Purification of MnP revealed the existence of two isoforms: MnPl and MnP2. The molecular masses of the purified MnPl and MnP2 were in the same range of 42~45 kDa. These isoforms of B. fumosa strictly require Mn to oxidize phenolic substrates. Concerned to kinetic constants of B. fumosa MnPs, B. fumosa has similar Km value and Vmax compared to the other white-rot fungi.

Electroluminescent(EL) devices based on organic thin films have attracted lots of interests in large-area light-emitting display. One of the problems of such device is a lifetime, where a degradation of the cell is possibly due to an organic layer's thickness, morphology and interface with electrode. In this study, light-emitting organic electroluminescent devices were fabricated using Alq$_3$(8-hydroxyquinolinate aluminum) and TPD(N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-[1-1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diamine).Where Alq$_3$ is an electron-transport and emissive layer, TPD is a hole-transport layer. The cell structure is ITO/TPD/Alq$_3$/Al and the cell is fabricated by vacuum evaporation method. In a measurement of current-voltage characteristics, we obtained a turn-on voltage at about 9 V. And we used other buffer layer of PPy(Polypyrrole) with ITO/PPy/TPD/Alq$_3$/Al structure. We observed a surface morphology by AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy), UV/visible absorption spectrum, and PL(Photoluminescence) spectrum. We obtained the UV/visible absorption peak at 358nm in TPD and at 359nm in Alq$_3$, and at 225nm and the PL peaks at 410nm in TPD and at 510nm in Alq$_3$ and at 350nm. We also studied EL spectrum in the cell structure of ITO/TPD/Alq$_3$/Al and ITO/PPy/TPD/Alq$_3$/Al and we observed the EL spectrum peak at 510nm from our cell

Zinc oxide of hexagonal wurzite, is known as n-type semiconductor. It has a wide band gap energy of 3.37 eV and large exciton binding energy of 60 meV. It can be widely applied to gas sensors, laser diodes, dye-sensitized solar cells and degradation of dye waste. The use of microwave hydrothermal synthesis brings a rapid reaction rate, high yield, and energy saving. Amine additives control the different particle shapes because of the chelate effect and formation of hydroxide ion. In this study, zinc nitrate hexahydrate was used as zinc precursor. In addition, ethanolamine, ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, and hexamethylenetetramine are used as shape control agent. The pH value was controlled as 11 by NaOH. The shapes of zinc oxide are star-like, rod, flower-like, and circular cone. In order to analyze physical, chemical, and optical properties of ZnO with diverse amine additives, we used XRD, SEM, EDS, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and PL spectroscopy.

We also investigated stability of the devices using buffer layer with blend of PEI (Poly ether imide) and TPD by varying mot ratios between ITO and Alq$_3$. In current-voltage characteristics measurement, we obtained the turn-on voltage at about 6 V and observed an anomalous behavior at 3∼4 V. And we used other buffer layer of PEDT(3,4-pyrazino-3',4'-ethylenedithio-2,2',5,5'-tetrathiafulvalenium) with ITO/PEDT/TPD/Alq$_3$Al structure. Carbon dioxide is one of the main causes of global warming. In order to develop a novel absorbent, the characteristics of amino acid salts solution as a solvent for $CO_2$ capture in continuous process were investigated. The cost of $CO_2$ capture is almost 70% of total cost of CCS (carbon dioxide capture and storage). In the carbon dioxide capture process, process maintenance costs consist of the absorbent including the absorption, regeneration, degradation, and etc. It is very important to study the characteristics of absorbent in continuous process. In this study, we have investigated the properties of potassium L-lysine (PL) for getting scale-up factors in continuous process. To obtain optimum condition for removal efficiency of $CO_2$ in continuous process by varying liquid-gas (L/G) ratio, concentration of $CO_2$ and absorbent (PL) were tested. The stable condition of absorber and regenerator (L/G) ratio is 3.5. In addition, PL system reveals the highest removal efficiency of $CO_2$ with 3.5 of L/G and 10.5 vol% $CO_2$ ($1.5Nm^3/h$).
This paper evaluates the geotechnical and geo-engineering properties of the South Pars Zone (SPZ) marls in Assalouyeh, Iran. These marly beds mostly belong to the Aghajari and Mishan formations which entail the gray, cream, black, green, dark red and pink types. Marls can be observed as rock (soft rock) or soil. Marlstone outcrops show a relatively rapid change to soils in the presence of weathering. To geotechnically characterise the marls, field and laboratory experiments such as particle-size distribution, hydrometer, Atterberg limits, uniaxial compression, laboratory direct-shear, durability and carbonate content tests have been performed on soil and rock samples to investigate the physico-mechanical properties and behaviour of the SPZ marls in order to establish empirical relations between the geo-engineering features of the marls. Based on the experiments conducted on marly soils, the USCS classes of the marls is CL to CH which has a LL ranging from 32 to 57% and PL ranging from 18 to 27%. Mineralogical analyses of the samples revealed that the major clay minerals of the marls belong to the smectite or illite groups with low to moderate swelling activities. The geomechanical investigations revealed that the SPZ marls are classified as argillaceous lime, calcareous marl and marlstone (based on the carbonate content) which show variations in the geomechanical properties (i.e., with a cohesion ranging from 97 to 320 kPa and a friction angle ranging from 16 to 35 degrees). The results of the durability tests revealed that the degradation potential showed a wide variation from none to fully disintegrated. According to the results of the experiments, the studied marls have been classified as calcareous marl, marlstone and argillaceous lime due to the variations in the carbonate and clay contents. The results have shown that an increase in the carbonate content leads to a decrease in the degradation potential and an increase in the density and strength parameters such as durability and compressive strength. A comparison of the empirical relationships obtained from the regression analyses with similar studies revealed that the results obtained herein are reasonably reliable.
A series of Ce-doped ZnO (Ce/ZnO) nanostructures were fabricated using the co-precipitation method, then a simply nontoxic hydrothermal approach was proposed for preparation of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-Ce/ZnO composites. The synthesized composites were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) techniques and Raman pattern. The as-synthesized rGO-Ce/ZnO composites showed high photodecomposition efficiency in comparison with the rGO-ZnO, Ce/ZnO, pure ZnO under UV, visible-light and sunlight irradiation. The degradation of methylene blue (MB) (10 mg/L, 100ml) by 95.8% within 60 min by using rGO-2 (10 mg) under sunlight irradiation was observed. The repeated use of the rGO-2 was investigated, and the results showed almost no decay in the catalytic activity.
An InGaN/GaN multiple quantum well (MQW) structure is grown on a GaN/sapphire template using a plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE). The fluctuation of the quantum well thickness formed from roughly-grown InGaN layer results in a disordered photoluminescence (PL) spectrum. The surface morphologies of the InGaN layers with various In compositions are investigated by reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). A blurred InGaN/GaN hetero-interface and the non-uniform QW size is confirmed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Inhomogeneity of the quantum confinement results in a degradation of the quantum efficiency even though the InGaN layer has a uniform In composition.
Compared with organic fluorophores, semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have the better properties such as photostability, narrow emission spectra coupled to tunable photoluminescent emissions and exceptional resistance to both photo bleaching and chemical degradation. In this work, CdSe/ZnS QDs nanobeads were prepared by the incorporation of CdSe/ZnS QDs with mesoporous silica to use as the optical probe for detecting toxic and bio- materials with high sensitivity, CdSe/ZnS core/shell QDs were synthesized from the precursors such as CdO and zinc stearate with the lower toxicity than pyrotic precursors. The QD-nanobeads were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, FL microscopy, UV-Vis and PL spectroscopy, respectively.
