  • The Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller is still the most widespread control strategy in the industry. PID controllers have gained popularity due to their simplicity, better control performance and excellent robustness to uncertainties. This paper presents the optimal tuning of a PID controller for domestic induction heating systems with a series resonant inverter for controlling the induction heating power. The objective is to design a stable and superior control system by tuning the PID controller with a derivative filter (PIDF) through Fuzzy logic. The paper also compares the performance of the Fuzzy PIDF controller with that of a Ziegler-Nichols PID controller and a fine-tuned PID controller with a derivative filter. The system modeling and controllers are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results obtained show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed Fuzzy PID controller with a derivative filter.

  • This paper is about control of Automated Guided Vehicle for path following using fuzzy logic controller. The Automated Guided Vehicle is a tricycle wheeled mobile robot with three wheels, two fixed passive wheels and one steering driving wheel. First, kinematic and dynamic modeling for Automated Guided Vehicle is presented. Second, a controller that integrates two control loops, kinematic control loop and dynamic control loop, is designed for Automated Guided Vehicle to follow an unknown path. The kinematic control loop based on Fuzzy logic framework and the dynamic control loop based on two PID controllers are proposed. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.

  • The PID type controller has been widely used in industrial application due to its simply control structure, ease of design, and inexpensive cost. However, control performance of the PID type controller suffers greatly from high uncertainty and nonlinearity of the system, large disturbances and so on. This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy logic proportional plus conventional integral derivative controller (fuzzy P+ID). In comparison with a conventional PID controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted to tune the fuzzy P+ID controller. In this case, the stability of a system remains unchanged after the PID controller is replaced by the fuzzy P+ID controller without modifying the original controller parameters. Finally, the proposed hybrid fuzzy P+ID controller is applied to BLDC motor drive. Simulation results demonstrated that the control performance of the proposed controller is better than that of the conventional controller.

  • Ship Autopilots are usually designed based on the PD and Pill controllers because of simplicity, reliability and easy to construct. However their performance in various environmental conditions is not as good as desired. This disadvantage can be overcome by adjusting works or constructing adaptive controllers. But those methods are complex and not easy to do. This paper presents a new method for constructing a Ship Autopilot based on the combination of Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) and Linear Control Theory (Pill control). The new Ship Autopilot has the advantages of both the Pill and FLC control methodologies: easy to construct, and optimal control laws can be established based on ship masters' knowledge. Therefore, the new ship autopilot can be well adapted with parameter variations and strong environment effects. Simulation using MATLAB software for a ship with real parameters shows high effectiveness of the Fuzzy Pill autopilot in course keeping and course changing manoeuvres in comparison with the ordinary Pill ship autopilots.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a servo system with faster and more accurate response. This paper describes a method of approximate reasoning for fuzzy control of servo system based on the decomposition of $\alpha$-level fuzzy sets. We propose that fuzzy logic algorithm is a body from fuzzy inference to defuzzificaion cases where the output variable u directly is generated PWM The effectiveness for robust and faster response of the fuzzy control scheme are verified for a variable parameter by comparison with a PID control and fuzzy control A position control of DC servo system with a fuzzy logic controller is demonstrated successfully.

  • In this paper, we present a fuzzy logic based tuner for continuous on-line tuning of PID controllers. The essential idea of the scheme is to parameterize a Ziegler-Nichols-like tuning formula by a singler parameter .alpha., then to use an on line fuzzy logic to self-tune the parameter. The adaptive scaling makes the controller robust against large variations in parametric and dynamics uncertainties in the plant model. New self-tuning controller has the ability to decide when to use PI or PID control by extracting process dynamics from relay experiments. These scheme lead to improved performance of the transient and steady state behavior of the closed loop system, including processes with nonminimum phase processes.

  • An adaptive fuzzy P + ID controller for variable speed operation of BLDC motor drives is presented in this paper. Generally, a conventional PID controller is most widely used in industry due to its simple control structure and ease of design. However, the PID controller suffers from the electrical machine parameter variations and disturbances. To improve the tracking performance for parameter and load variations, the controller proposed in this paper is constructed by using an adaptive fuzzy logic controller in place of the proportional term in a conventional PID controller. For implementing this controller, only one additional parameter has to be adjusted in comparison with the PID controller. An adaptive fuzzy controller applied to proportional term to achieve robustness against parameter variations has simple structure and computational simplicity. The controller based on optimal fuzzy logic controller has an self-tuning characteristics with clustering. Computer simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • Induction motor has been using for industrial field. Up to the present time, the PID controller has been used to operate this system. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain without any experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error procedures. This paper focuses on the fuzzy control for optimal control of the induction motor in plant. In order to attain optimal control, flux, torque and speed controller has been used and an fuzzy logic based controller has been applied to this system. The results of the fuzzy are compared with the PID controller tuned by the Ziegler-Nickels method, through various simulation based on the various disturbance and step response. The simulation results of the fuzzy control represent a more satisfactory response than those of the conventional controllers.

  • In this paper, we design a GA-fuzzy precompensated PID controller for the load frequency control of two-area interconnected power system. Here, a fuzzy precompensated PID controller is designed as a fuzzy logic-based precompensation approach for PID controller. This scheme is easily implemented simply by adding a fuzzy precompensator to an existing PID controller. And we optimize the fuzzy precompensator with a genetic algorithm for complements the demerit such as the difficulty of the component selection of fuzzy controller, namely, scaling factor membership function and control rules.

  • This paper investigates on the feasibility of fuzzy logic control for networked control systems. In order to evaluate its feasibility, a networked control system for motor speed control is implemented on a Profibus-DP network. The NCS consists of several inde-pendent, but interacting processes running on two separate stations. By using this NCS, the network-induced delay is analyzed to find the cause and effect of the delay. Furthermore, in order to prove the feasibility, the fuzzy logic controller's performance is compared with those of conventional PID controllers. Based on the experimental results, the fuzzy logic controller can be a viable choice far NCS due to its robustness against parameter uncertainty.
