Implementation of a 35KVA Converter Base on the 3-Phase 4-Wire STATCOMs for Medium Voltage Unbalanced Systems

  • This paper discussed a transformer-less shunt static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) with consideration of the following aspects: fast compensation of the reactive power, harmonic cancelation and reducing the unbalancing of the 3-phase source side currents. The STATCOM control algorithm is based on the theory of instantaneous reactive power (P-Q theory). A self charging technique is proposed to regulate the dc capacitor voltage at a desired level with the use of a PI controller. In order to regulate the DC link voltage, an off-line Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to tune the coefficients of the PI controller. This algorithm arranged these coefficients while considering the importance of three factors in the DC link voltage response: overshoot, settling time and rising time. For this investigation, the entire system including the STATCOM, network, harmonics and unbalancing load are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. After that, a 35KVA STATCOM laboratory setup test including two parallel converter modules is designed and the control algorithm is executed on a TMS320F2812 controller platform.

Spped Control of DC Motors Using Inverse Dynamics (역동력학을 이용한 DC 모터의 속도제어)

  • In this paper a methodology for designing a controller based on inverse dynamics for speed control of DC motors is presented. The proposed controller consists of a low-pass prefilter the inverse dynamic model of a system and the PI controller. The low-pass prefilter prevents high frequency effects from the inverse dynamic model. The model is characterized by a nonlinear friction model. The PI controller regulates the error between the set-point and the system output which is caused by modeling error disturbances and variations f parameters. The parameters of the model and the PI controller are optimized offlinely by genetic algorithm. The experimental results on a DC motor system illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • In the present study, various experiments were performed to investigate the capacity modulation and transient response control using a variable speed compressor and electronic expansion valve(EEV). Based on the experimental results, the operation control algorithm and real time digital control system were constructed to adjust the superheat at the inlet of the compressor. Superheat control was fulfilled using both the PI feedback controller and PI controller combined with a feedforward concept. As a result, the tracking performance of the latter was better than that of former.

  • Recently, digital camera module has been extensively utilized in mobile devices. The digital camera module should be smaller and lighter than digital still camera module to be used in mobile device. But, mobile camera can't get high quality image as good as the one of digital still camera due to the optical limitation of minimized module. Especially, AE system of mobile camera occurs excessive hunting and oscillation due to miniaturization of module. In this paper, improved AE algorithm which is applied fuzzy PI control is suggested to compensate this point.

  • This paper describes two methods which generate all the prime implicants (PI's) quickly by using the directions of adjacency tavle (DA-table) that gives the knowledge of adjacency relations among the given minterms. One is a graphical method that enables us to generate PI's by hand, the other is a checking method that determines the existance of PI's quickly when it is programmed on a digital computer. And a fast minimization algorithm will be shown in this paper that can be implemented with reduced computational effort by selecting essential prime implicants (EPI's) first of all and using the concept of the integration of the PI identification and selection procedure. The procedure, proposed in this paper, has all the advantage of Karnaugh mapping, so the procedure is simple and easy.

  • 본 연구에서는 드론 기술을 응용한 부력조형물의 수평 및 수직 자세제어에 관한 연구를 수행 하였다. 기존의 공중부양 조형물은 헬륨 Gas를 이용한 애드벌룬이 대표적으로 로프를 이용한 단순한 공중부양 조형물이었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 공중부양 조형물에 로프를 없애고 드론 기술을 응용한 프로펠러로 공중부양 조형물의 자세를 제어하는 방법을 연구하였다. 시스템 구성은 단일 제어기로서의 역할보다 시스템 구성요소로서의 역할이 매우 중요해지므로 조형물의 제어시스템, 다양한 센서등의 연동되어지는 전체의 제어기로 확장시켜 사용되는 퓨전 시스템의 방향으로 구성하였다. 부력조형물의 수평 및 수직제어를 위하여 사용된 센서는 2축의 자이로센서와 3축의 가속도센서를 사용하였다. 프로펠러와 연결된 BLDC모터를 효율적으로 제어하기 위한 알고리즘으로 PI 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 시스템의 성능 향상을 위한 효율적인 동적 작업부하 균등화와 시스템 자원인 CPU와 메모리를 효율적으로 사용하여 고성능 컴퓨팅 시스템의 처리량을 최소화하고, 센싱 및 제어의 수행시간을 최소화하였다. 본 연구에서는 PI 알고리즘을 시스템에 적용하여 응답특성 실험을 행한 결과 시뮬레이션에 의한 응답 결과와 잘 일치하였으며 그 유용성이 검증하였다.

Fuzzy Modeling and Control of Wheeled Mobile Robot

  • In this paper, a new model, which is a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, for mobile robot is presented. A controller, consisting of two loops the one of which is the inner state feedback loop designed for stability and the outer loop is a PI controller designed for tracking the reference input, is suggested. Because the robot dynamics is nonlinear, it requires the controller to be insensitive to the nonlinear term. To achieve this objective, the model is developed by well known T-S fuzzy model. The design algorithm of inner state-feedback loop is regional pole-placement. In this paper, regions, for which poles of the inner state feedback loop are lie in, are formulated by LMI's. By solving these LMI's, we can obtain the state feedback gains for T-S fuzzy system. And this paper shows that the PI controller is equivalent to the state feedback and the cost function for reference tracking is equivalent to the LQ(linear quadratic) cost. By using these properties, it is also shown in this paper that the PI controller can be obtained by solving the LQ problem.

  • Technology on the proportional integral (PI) control have grown rapidly owing to the needs for the robust capacity of the controllers from industrial building sectors. However, PI controller requires tuning of gains for optimal control when the outside weather condition changes. The present study presents the possibility of reinforcement learning (RL) control algorithm with PI controller adapted in the HVAC system. The optimal design criteria of RL controller was proposed in the Environment Chamber experiment and a theoretical analysis was also conducted using TRNSYS program.

  • In this paper proposed to neural network PI self-tuning direct controller using Error back propagation algorithm. Proposed controller applies to speed controller and current controller. Also, this built up the interface environment to drive it simply and exactly in any kind of reference, environment fluent and parameter transaction of PMSM. Neural network PI self-tuning simulator using Visual C++ and Matlab Simulation is organized to construct this environment, Built up interface has it's own purpose that even the user who don't have the accurate knowledge of Neural network can embody operation characteristic rapidly and easily.

  • In this paper, by comparing the performance of HVAC(Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning) by the typical PI (Proportional-Integral) control and the HVAC by the new neural network control, it will show the applicability of neural network control algorithm to HVAC of buildings. These show that neural network system that can respond to changes in temperature and system can replace PI control that has been conventionally used in buildings.
