  • This paper proposes a servo control system of SPMSM (Surface-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) which essentially uses vector control method. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and the current controller using space voltage vector PWM technique. The high-speed processing of algorithm for vector control and inverter switching for PWM is carried out by TMS320C31 DSP and IGBT module, respectively. The proposed scheme for 2.2kW SPMSM is verified through digital simulations and experiments, which show higher performance than that of traditional hysteresis current control technique.

Precise Temperature Control of Oil Coolers with Hot-gas Bypass Manner for Machine Tools Based on PI and Feedforward Control (PI와 피드포워드 제어를 이용한 공작기계용 오일쿨러의 핫가스 바이패스 방식 정밀 온도 제어)

  • Recently, the performances of speed and accuracy are enhanced in machine tools. The high speed of the machine tools usually causes harmful thermal displacements on the objects. To reduce the thermal displacements, machine tools generally adopt oil coolers with precise temperature control function. This study aims at precise control of oil outlet temperature in the oil coolers with hot-gas bypass manner based on PI control logic. The control system was designed for obtaining steady state error within ${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$ and maximum overshoot with 0.8% even though abrupt disturbances are added to the system. We showed that the PI gains could be easily decided by numerical simulations using practical transfer function which got experiments. Also, transient characteristics could be improved significantly by reflecting the inlet temperature of an evaporator to the output of a controller feedforwardly considering periodic abrupt disturbances. Through some experiments, excellent control performances were established by the suggested control.

  • The design procedure for fuzzy logic controller depends on the expert's knowledge or trial and error. Moreover, it is very difficult to guarantee the stability and robustness of the system due to the linguistic expression of fuzzy control. However, fuzzy logic control has succeeded in many control problems that the conventional control theory has difficulties to deal with. As a result, this control theory is applied to the engine control system which a mathematical model is difficult. In this study, the fuzzy logic is applied to obtain the gain of PI control at idle speed control system, and a simple engine model is developed in order to perform simulation. Experimental results show that the response to reach the target engine speed at idle speed control system is improved by adopting the gain obtained with fuzzy logic.

  • Servomotors are used as key components of automated system by performing accurate positioning, accurate speed regulation, and precise motion control in response to commands from computers and sensors. Especially linear brushless servomotors have numerous advantages over ball screws, timing belts, rack/pinion drives and friction drives compared with rotary servomotors. This paper proposes the estimation of unknown parameters from the linear brushless DC motor which is operated by sinusoidal commutation. The estimated parameters are used to tune the controller gain and disturbance observer. In order to agree with this purpose, Digital Signal Processor(TMS320F240), developed for implementation of a speed Field Oriented Control(FOC), adopted in this study. The processor playing an important role in controller has A/D converters, PWM generators, riched I/O port internally.

  • This Paper presents a solution to control the Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM) in Hard Disk Drive(HDD) using the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR). Generally, The speed of BLDCM in HDD is controlled by the lead angle control or the input voltage control using PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation) etc. These control methods have speed overshoot in speed control and need the long time until BLDCM reaches at the steady state. In order to improve the performance, this paper present the PI speed controller using the LQR based on vector control and the rotor position detection methods at the space vector PWM inverter. The proposed methods are proved by the simulation and experimental results.

  • Advantages of switched reluctance motor(SRM) drives make it an attractive candidate for replacing adjustable speed ac and do drives in both industrial and consumer applications. Furthermore, a simple, low cost and robust SRM drive can be efficiently operatied ill the hostile environment of an automobile. In this paper, novel topology for fast response of various load is proposed. Proposed topology adapts anti-windup PI controller at increasing speed referense and activate braking mode at decreasing speed and forward load, Experiental results show that proposed topology have fast response charecteristics at increasing and decreasing speed reference.

  • In this paper, recently, it is described to the piezoelectric transformer technology develops, because it was have to favorable characteristics such as electromagnetic-noise free, compact size, higher efficiency, and superior power density, flux linkage, noiseless, etc. its resonance frequency was used to output waveform of a sine wave. A rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of flux model reference adaptive system(FMRAS). The estimator execute the rotor speed identification so that the vector control of the induction motor may be achieved. The improved auxiliary variable of the model are introduced to perform accurate rotor speed estimation. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and the current controller using space voltage vector PWM techniuqe and DC-DC converter. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by digital signal one chip microprocessor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper suggests the current control method that is possible to control Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) with high performance current controller. The proposed control method is the way that uses the powerful current cintroller developed the speed emf with a proper voltage in an each inductance region instead of the existed PI controller. The suggested current control strategies are verified by simulations and experiments in this paper.
