  • This paper deals with the active clamp ZVS flyback converter for RF generator. The proposed converter has the characteristics of the low switching noise and high efficient regarding conventional flyback converter. To verify validity of the proposed converter, the 100kHz, 48V, 300W converter are simulation and experimental result. This converter will be apply to the discharge drive circuit for PDP(Plasma Display Panel) TV.

  • The PDP(Plasma Display Panel) barrier rib was fabricated by focused $Ar^+$ laser ($\lambda$=514nm) and Nd:YAG($\lambda$=532, 266 nm) laser irradiation. The depth of the etched groove increases with increasing a laser fluence. and decreasing a scan speed. Using the second harmonic of the Nd:YAG laser, the threshold laser fluence was $6.5mJ/cm^2$ for the sample of PDP barrier rib dried at $120^{\circ}C$. The thickness of $150{\mu}m$ of the sample on the glass was etched without any damage on the glass substrate by fluence of $19.5J/cm^2$. The barrier rib sample on hot plate was etched by Nd:YAG laser(532 nm) as increasing a temperature of the sample. In this case, the etch rate was $95{\mu}m/s$, $190{\mu}m/s$ at room temperature, $175^{\circ}C$ respectively.

  • The relationships between discharge characteristics and sustain electrode shape are studied in AC PDP by calculating the electric field and measuring discharge voltage, luminance and current. The maximum electric field is obtained for the triangle shape electrode. It is 1.8 times larger than uniform electric field type. It has been shown thatthe firing voltage is largely affected by the degree of electric field concentration. But, as the difference of the maximum and minimum value of electric field in a cell increases, the luminance and luminance efficiency decrease. And, the charge variation during discharge is proportional to the area of electrode.

  • Dry film method for large size of PDP(Plasma Display Panel) module has been actively investigated. This method for lead-free transparent dielectric formation depends on green sheet technology. By adjusting the composition of transparent dielectric powders and organics, uniformly dispersed slurry was fabricated, Viscosity of the slurry exhibited pseudoplastic behavior for tape casting, Cast green sheets were tested under tensile condition at room temperature. It was found that the increase in transparent dielectric powder and binder ratio leads to decrease in strain to failure of green sheets from 120 % to 34 % and from 255 % to 4 %, respectively. Tensile strength of green sheets decreased abruptly with increase of transparent dielectric powder ratio, with minimum at 0.13 MPa. On the other hand, tensile strength increased continuously from 0.1 MPa to 2.4 MPa with increase of binder ratio. The green sheets were attached on the glass substrate and heated by following firing schedule. As a result, the best result was obtained when fired at 580 $^{\circ}C$ for 15 min and had transmittance of 78 % in visible range 550 nm.

  • Effects of the evaporation rate of MgO films using electron beam were investigated on the MgO properties and the discharge characteristics of the plasma display panel (PDP). The evaporation rate was changed from $3{\AA}$/sec to $15{\AA}$/sec at a substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. MgO properties such as crystal orientation, surface roughness, contact angle, and film structure were inspected using XPS, AFM, drop shape analysis and SEM. We also studied the relation between MgO properties and PDP discharging characteristics. The minimum firing voltage and maximum efficacy were obtained at evaporation rate of $5{\AA}$/sec. In the MgO film deposited at $5{\AA}$/sec, (200) orientation was most intensive and surface roughness was minimum.

  • A new LLC resonant converter with multiple outputs is proposed for high efficiency and low cost plasma display panel (PDP) power module. In the proposed converter, ZVS turn-on of the primary MOSFETs and ZCS nun-off of the secondary diodes are guaranteed in the overall input voltage and output load range. Moreover, the primary MOSFETs and the secondary diodes have low voltage stresses clamped to input and the output voltage, respectively. Therefore, the proposed converter shows the high efficiency due to the minimized switching and conduction losses. In addition, by employing the transformer, which has the two and more secondary side, the proposed converter can have multiple outputs and they show the great cross-regulation characteristics. As a result, the proposed converter can be implemented with low cost and compact size. The 500W prototype is implemented, which integrates the sustaining and addressing power supplies of PDP power module. The maximum efficiency is 96.8% and the respective output voltages are well regulated. Therefore, the proposed converter is suitable for high efficiency and low cost PDP power module.

  • PDP(Plasma Display Panel)의 투명 유전체에 적용 가능한 저융점 유리 중에서 납성분이 포함 되어 있지 않는 Bi계 유리의 연구를 행하였다. 기판과의 일체화를 위한 유리의 응용으로, 소자와의 반응 억제와 열응력 완화를 위해 유리의 저융점화 및 열팽창 계수를 제어하였다. 본 연구에서 제조된 Bi계 유리는 DTA와 TMA의 열분석을 통해 50$0^{\circ}C$부근에서 연화점이 있고, 7.31~10.02$\times$$10^{-6}$$^{\circ}C$, 비유전을 11.1~13.3, 광투과도가 80%이상으로 PDP 투명유전체에 적용 가능한 Bi계 유리를 얻을 수 있었다.

Ion Induced Secondary Electron Emission of MgO with Patterned Gold Line Charge Neutralization

  • Ion induced secondary electron emission coefficients γ of protecting layers of an AC plasma display panel(AC-PDP) have been measured. In order to solve the surface charging effect during the measurement at insulating samples like MgO, a new method with the patterned gold line charge neutralization has been introduced. The measurement was performed at the samples, MgO and MgO+MgF$_2$, which showed a great difference in the firing voltage between the two protecting layers. The γ value has been compared with the firing voltage Vf of the AC-PDP with the same protecting layer. Correct relationship between γ and Vf has been observed. Thus, the patterned gold line method has been proven to be successful for the measurement of the secondary electron emission yield at insulator sample surfaces.

  • In this paper, we analyze on the discharge characteristics through 1-D simulations in an at plasma display panel discharge cell. The model is based on a Poisson' equation, continuity and drift-diffusion equation. Results are presented in a 95% neon, 5% xenon gas mixture, for a gap length of 100us and a gas pressure of 400Torr at ambient temperature. Results for other gap length are also discussed. As a result, an increase of the gap cause increase of luminous efficiency but with larger sustaining voltage.

  • Recently, miniaturization and mass production are the main trends in manufacturing fields. Therefore, ultraprecision machining and MEMS technology have been taken more and more important position in machining of microparts. Micro endmilling is one of the prominent technology that has wide spectrum of application field ranging from macro parts to micro products, such as PDP and IT components, in precision products manufacturing. However, the deburring is significant problem in making smooth and precise parts in micro endmilling. This paper shows removal characteristics of burr generated by micro endmilling process. Additionally, it is necessary to understand the formation mechanism of burr of micro barrier ribs to find proper deburring method.
