Analysis of Cone and Seed Characteristics from Different Mating Design Strategies of Pinus densiflora for. multicaulis

  • This study aimed to enhance seed productivity and secure genetic resources for Pinus densiflora for. multicaulis. We analyzed the characteristics of cone and seed generated by control pollination between Pinus densiflora (PD) and Pinus densiflora for. multicaulis (PDM). The highest number of cone scales (63.0) was obtained from the self-pollinated (sp) PDM clone B (PDM-sp-B), whereas the lowest number of cone scales (44.7) was obtained from two combinations designated as PDM-A×PD-075 and PDM-A×PD-0111. Both female parents of the hybrids were PDM-A. The highest seed production capacity (80.8) was obtained from the open-pollinated (op) PDM clone B (PDM-op-B). The seed potentials of PDM-B×PD-0111, PDM-op-A, and PDM-sp-B were 67.4, 66.5, and 63.1, respectively. The highest number of fertile scales (41.5) was obtained from PDM-op-B, and the lowest number of fertile scales (28.8) was obtained from PDM-A×PD-075. The total number of aborted ovules and 1st aborted ovules was not statistically significant in the mating design. The cross combination of PDM-B×PD-0111 had the highest number (34.8) of filled seeds and the lowest number of 2nd aborted ovules (5.2) and empty seeds (9). PDM-op-B had the highest number of developed seeds (47.6), although the number of empty seeds was the highest (41.2). Therefore, we conclude that the mating design of PDM-B×PD-0111 is useful for future breeding programs to improve seed yield of PDM. Our results showed that there was a strong correlation between the following two parameter pairs: number of scales and number of fertile scales, and the number of fertility scales and seeds potential (r=0.89 and r=0.84, respectively; both p<0.01).

  • PDM(Product Data Management)은 제품의 개념정의에서부터 연구개발, 생산, 서비스에 이르는 전 과정에 걸쳐 관련된 모든 제품 정보를 협업을 통해 생성, 관리, 사용하도록 지원하는 일련의 프로세스를 의미한다. PDM 시스템 구축의 일차적 목적은 제품 관련 데이터의 정합성을 확보하여 데이터 관리의 효율성을 제고하고, 업무프로세스의 개선 및 표준화로 부가가치 창출에 기여하는 것이다. 특히 제품의 연구 개발 프로세스 전반에 걸친 제품정보의 공유를 통해 연구개발 부서와 기타 업무부서간 협업적 업무 프로세스의 구축을 촉진함으로써 R&D 경쟁력 확보에 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 의료기기 제조업체의 PDM 구축사례를 소개함으로써 R&D 경쟁력 확보를 위한 PDM의 효용성에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 본 연구의 사례에서는 PDM 시스템 구축을 통해 BOM 관리, 도면 및 설계변경 관리, 문서 관리 등에 소요되는 시간의 $30\sim70%$ 가량을 단축하였으며, 연간 $3\sim5%$ 가량의 재료비 절감이라는 효과를 거두었다. 본 사례연구의 결과가 PDM 도입 시 실질적인 지침을 수립하는데 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라 효과적인 PDM 구축절차 수립에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

  • The typical characteristic of PDM(Product Data Management) System seperates the databases to store the meta data and applications. Therefore, meta data contains the information for the location of file, user profiles, relationships between the files, and process. PDM utilizes these information efficiently and does file management, configuration management, and process management. In this view, the integration strategy of PDM is to merge data and process. In the view of architecture, the interface between data and application and the actions of each application execute seamlessly. This architecture is viewed as integrated data and process among enterprises and implemented with client/server technology in distributed process environment that interfaced with open object-oriented technology which is developed with business object in the object-oriented infrastructure. In this paper, we studied the definition, function, and scope of PDM and researched the core technologies to implement the PDM integration environment. We also researched the PDM utilization in distributed enterprise environment and implementation of PDM integration environment with this technical background.

  • The concept of integrated product information has been universalized so that many manufacturing industries have applied the concept to their production system. The field of PDM (Product Data Management), which is one of the core components of the integrated product information, is not an exception. Therefore, various PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software providers are in process of suggesting the PDM solutions. As the PDM solution is widely adopted in the manufacturing industries, the successful application of the solution has been gathering more strength in manipulation of the product information. However, the standardized implementation methodology is stuck in the basic level contrast with the enhanced PDM's functionality and capability. Present study refers to the application of UML (Unified Modeling Language), which is an object oriented modeling description, to PDM system development procedure. The advantage of UML is its efficiency and effectiveness in handling complex requirement often found in PDM implementation works. This paper shows the integration of PDM and UML proposes a philosophy for the support of requirement analysis throughout the full implementation of PDM system.

  • Today's manufacturing environment is becoming a distributed manufacturing process in which a unique and specialized technological background is required in specific domains rather than having a single company execute all the manufacturing processes. This phenomenon is especially true in the automotive industry, where the sharing of product data between companies is rampant; however, this kind of interoperability causes many problems. When each company has its own method of managing product data, the sharing of product data in a distributed environment is a major problem. A data translator module or a data mapping module had to be developed for the exchange of data in heterogeneous systems of product data management (PDM); moreover, this type of module must be continually changed and improved due to the fact that PDM systems change for many reasons. In addition, the growth in corporate partnerships deepens the burden of developing and maintaining this module and creates further data exchange problems due to the increasing complexity of the system. This paper introduces a way of exchanging product data among heterogeneous PDM systems through the use of OpenPDM, which is a kind of virtual data warehouse. The implementation of a PDM integrating system is also discussed with respect to the requirement for a logical integration of product data which are physically distributed.

  • The product data exchange between heterogeneous CAB and PDM systems is a crucial issue for the integration of product development systems. STEP offers an efficient mechanism of product data exchange between heterogeneous systems. This paper introduces a UML-based mapping methodology for the product data models. The suggested mapping method has been applied to exchange the product structure data between CAD and PDM systems. Based on the STEP methods, we developed an interface module between a CAD system and a PDM system.

  • This paper proposes a Product Data Management (PDM) system architecture that supports end-user computing for small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Korea to build and maintain efficient and sustainable information systems for their product development. Its open database with relational tables enables existing common application programs such as Microsoft office suites to access product data in PDM systems. In addition, the interactive query processor provided by database management systems helps design engineers to build ad hoc queries in standard SQL database language to response different data requirements during their product development. The PDM architecture with the open database allows design engineers or technical staffs in SMBs to build and maintain their application programs for product development by themselves. To show the feasibility of the proposed architecture, this study implemented a prototype PDM system based on the architecture and database, and represents real-world product data with the implemented PDM system.

  • 현재 건설사업 실무에 활용되는 대부분의 공정관리 소프트웨어들은 PDM(Precedence Diagramming Method) 기법을 적용하고 있는데 이는 작업 간 중복표시가 가능하기 때문이다. 그러나 기존 PDM방식의 작업 간 중복관계는 선 후행 작업간 착수 및 종료시점을 연결하는 네 가지 조합으로 표시되는데, 실제 건설 사업에서 선 후행 작업 간 중복관계는 작업의 중간시점 어디에서라도 상호 연관관계를 가질 수 있지만 PDM기법은 이를 효율적으로 표현하지 못한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 작업 간 중복관계를 표시할 때, 작업의 착수와 종료시점에만 국한되지 않고, 작업의 중간 어느 시점에서도 작업 간 상호관계를 연계시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 복수의 중복관계도 표시 할 수 있는 새로운 공정관리 기법인 BDM(Beeline Diagramming Method)기법으로 기존 PDM기법의 네 가지 표현방법을 전환시키는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 통해 기존의 PDM기법으로 작성된 CPM공정계획이 BDM기법의 CPM(Critical Path Method) 공정계획으로 전환이 가능하게 되며, BDM기법의 장점을 활용하여 공정관리의 효율성을 향상시키며 궁극적으로 공정관리의 발전에 기여하고자 한다.

  • System Intergration (SI) has resently been conceived as one df the most important tools for enforciong and reinforcing the competitiveness of an enterprise. A major concern of SI lies in sharing many types of information, such as engineering, production, finance, marketing, and so on. Product Data Management (PDM) systems are mainly concerned with product- related information, and also support a large portion of the Commerce At Light Speed (CALS) straitegy. PDM systems receive a great amount df attention form industry, A variety of PDM solutions have been introduced for the last few years, and its market has expanded very fast with an annual growth of 30%. However, in general, it is not an easy task to choose a right PDM solution for a particular company. A major purpose of this paper is to provide essential factors in evaluating PDM systems. While developing the factors. we consider the expected future trend of PDM technologies and three types of PDM-based intergration (frontward, rearward, and sideward integrations). We Propose to carry out the evaluation process in two fold. An overall evaluation is performed first to narrow down many alternatives into a few candidate systems, and then a detailed technical evaluation step follows to determine the final solution. A number of influencing factors are categorized and described in each of these steps.
