Vowel Variation in PC Communication Language and Phonetic Similarity (통신언어의 모음변이와 음성학적 유사성)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide deeper understanding of how it is possible for people to understand PC communication language they have never seen or heard before without any problem. In order to answer this question, we focused on the vowel variation through which new variants are created (for PC communication), and hypothesized that there is a phonetic constraint which requires the vowel of the variant to be phonetically similar (to the maximum) to the vowel of the original word. Through the corpus analysis of the dictionary of PC communication language, we show that our hypothesis is justified by the fact that most of the variants we collected from the dictionary, that is, 90% of them, conformed to the phonetic constraint we postulated.

Inhibition of Dopamine Biosynthesis by Coralyne in PC12 Cells (Coralyne에 의한 PC12 세포중의 도파민 생합성 저해작용)

  • The effects of coralyne, a protoberberine isoquinoline compound, on dopamine biosynthesis in PC12 cells were investigated. Coralyne decreased the dopamine content dose-dependently $(46.3%\;inhibition\;at\;20\;{\mu}M\;for\;24 hr).$ Dopamine content was lowered at 6 hr and reached minimal level at 24 hr after exposure to coralyne at $20\;{\mu}M.$ The decreased dopamine level was maintained up to 48 hr and recovered to the control level at about 72 hr. Tyrosine hydroxylase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the catecholamine biosynthesis, was also inhibited at $20\;{\mu}M\;of\;coralyne$ by 16.1% relative to control. These results suggest that the inhibition of tyrosine hydroxylase by coralyne with a single treatment might be partially contributed to the decrease in dopamine content in PC12 cells.

  • In this study, an integrated GMS(Geostationary Meteorological Satellite) receiving ground system, which includes the real-time reception and image processing of WEFAX data, has been developed. The demodulator, PC demodulator, PC interface and application softwares of the system were made and integrated with the commercially available antenna and receiver. Hardwars of the system were described in this part. This system operates at IBM PC/AT or above. It can be used for students at school and for application research in the fields of meteorology, oceanography, hydrology and astronomy.

Comparison of Construction Cost Applied by RC and PC Construction Method for Apartment House and Establishment of OSC Economic Analysis Framework (공동주택 RC 및 PC공법 적용 공사비 비교 및 OSC의 포괄적 경제성 분석 프레임워크 구축)

  • OSC is a type of supply chain and value chain that spans the entire process of construction production (planning, design, construction, maintenance, etc.). It is a method of producing the final object by manufacturing it in a factory, transporting it to the site, installing and construction. This research as is the construction cost was compared for each case A, which applied the PC method, and case B, which applied the RC method. In the case of applying the PC method (excluding the PC design cost), compared to the case where only the RC method was applied, the frame construction cost per unit quantity (m3) increased by about 70% (50% based on the total RC construction type). Of the total frame construction cost of PC method application, PC accounted for 90.2%, 'PC manufacturing cost' 54.8%, 'PC assembly cost' 28.5%, and 'transportation cost' accounted for 6.89%. Also a decision-making framework that can consider both costs and benefits was established. In the case of benefits, the construction period, defect repair, disaster occurrence, energy efficiency, noise/dust/waste, and greenhouse gas emission indicators reflecting OSC technical advantages were presented. It can contribute to providing a basis for helping decision-making on the introduction of PC apartment houses using OSC.

Effect of cryotherapy duration on experimentally induced connective tissue inflammation in vivo

  • Objectives: This study tested the hypothesis that cryotherapy duration influences lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in a rat model. Materials and Methods: Six Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus) were used. Five sites were selected per animal and divided into 5 groups: a negative control group (NC), 2 positive control groups (PC1 and PC2), and 2 experimental groups (E1 and E2). Cryotherapy was applied for 1 minute (E1) or 5 minutes (E2). An acute inflammatory response was induced in the PC and E groups via subcutaneous administration of 0.5 mL/kg. In the PC2 group, a catheter was inserted without additional treatment. For the E1 and E2 groups, 2.5℃ saline solution was administered through the implanted catheters for 1 and 5 minutes, respectively. The rats were sacrificed, and samples were obtained and processed for histological analysis, specifically examining the presence of polymorphonuclear neutrophils and hemorrhage. The χ2 test was used to compare the presence of acute inflammation across groups. Dependent variables were compared using the linear-by-linear association test. Results: Inflammation and hemorrhage varied significantly among the groups (p = 0.001). A significantly higher degree of acute inflammation was detected (p = 0.0002) in the PC and E1 samples than in the E2 group, in which cryotherapy was administered for 5 minutes. The PC and E1 groups also exhibited significantly greater numbers of neutrophils (p = 0.007), which were essentially absent in both the NC and E2 groups. Conclusions: Cryotherapy administration for 5 minutes reduced the acute inflammation associated with LPS and catheter implantation.

Nucleotide Sequences and Expression of cDNA Clones Encoding Uricase II in Canavalia lineata (해녀콩 Uricase II의 cDNA 염기서열과 발현)

  • 대두의 uricase II cDNA를 탐침으로 plaque 혼성화 방법에 의해 해녀콩의 뿌리를 cDNA library로부터의 두 개의 phage 클론(λCINUO-01, λCINUO-02)을 선별하였다. 두 phage 클론은 약 1.6 kb와 1.0 kb의 insert를 갖고 있었으며 이들의 염기서열을 결정하기 위하여 pUC19과 pBSKS vector에 subcloing(pcCLNUO-01, pcCLNUO-02)하였다. Sanger법에 의해 염기서열을 결정한 결과, 두 클론은 각각 1,611 bp와 1,024 bp로 이루어져 있었으며 pcCINUO-01은 308개의 아미노산, pcCINUO-02는 301개의 아미노산을 암호화하는 open reading frame(ORF)을 갖고 있었다. 두 클론의 ORF의 염기서열은 대두의 uricase II와 각각 88.9%, 89.3%의 상동성을 보여주었으며, 아미노산 서열은 84.1%, 85.4%의 상동성을 보여주었다. pcCINUO-01의 경우, 종결코돈으로부터 313 NT 하류쪽에 진핵생물의 poly(A) 첨가신호인 AATAAA 서열이 존재하였으며 이로부터 21 NT 하류쪽에 17 잔기의 poly(A)가 존재하였다. 두 클론의 염기서열에서 추정된 아미노산 서열의 카르복시 말단에는 세포질에서 합성된 몇몇 단백질들이 peroxisome으로 수송되는데 필요한 신호서열인 Ser-Lys-Leu-COOH 서열이 존재하고 있었다. 두 클론의 염기서열을 토대로 아미노산 조성을 살펴본 결과, 염기성 아미노산(Arg, His, Lys)과 산성 아미노산(Asp, Glu)이 각각 46 대 35, 47 대 35의 비를 보여주었는데 이는 uricase II 단백질의 염기성 성질을 보여주는 결과로 추정된다. Northern 혼성화 결과 해녀콩에서 uricase II는 뿌리혹에서만 특이적으로 발현됨을 알 수 있었고 게놈 혼성화 반응 결과는 uricase II 유전자가 해녀콩 게놈상에 유전자 가족으로는 존재할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

Analysis of Internal Quality and Magnetic Resonance Characteristics of Red Ginseng Using PCA (주성분 분석을 이용한 홍삼의 내부품질과 자기공명특성 분석)

  • Ten MHz pulsed NMR spectrometer was used to measure the magnetic resonance characteristics of Korean red ginseng. The difference in the internal structures of good and bad red ginsengs was examined by their NMR characteristics. Average values of $T_1$ and free induction decay(FID) ratios of under grade Korean red ginseng were the highest among the three groups categorized as normal, medium and under grades Korean red ginseng and average values of $T_2$ and $T_2$$^{*}$ of them were the lowest among the three groups. Principal component analysis(PCA) was used to observe the contribution of measured NMR values to the grade of Korean red ginseng. The measured $T_1$, $T_2$, $T_2$$^{*}$ and FID ratio of 79 Korean red ginsengs classified as normal grade, medium grade and under grade were examined using PCA analysis. Cumulative variance of PC1 through PC3 occupied more than 90% of total variance at first and second NMR measurement. Plots of PC scores for the most important PCs showed that normal red ginseng samples were distributed around the left region of PC1 axis and most of the undergrade red ginseng samples were scattered around the right region of PC1 axis.

  • Solar cell's efficiency depends on silicon's characteristic itself, or additional process such as texturing, coating, etc. Using PC1D, by adjusting Texturing, Base Resistivity, Emitter Doping, simulate many situation and observe the result. When texture Angle=$80^{\circ}$, Texture Depth=2um, Base Resistivity = 0.2, Emitter Doping = 8*Exp(19) are set, the solar cell's efficiency si 19.89%, and optimized.

Pc1/EMIC waves observed at subauroral latitude during sudden magnetospheric compressions

  • It is generally accepted that sudden compressions of the magnetosphere cause electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) wave growth by increasing the proton temperature anisotropy. These compression-associated EMIC waves are expected to be on higher latitudes (i.e., higher-L regions close to the magnetopause). In this study we examine Pc1 pulsations, which are believed to be generated by the EMIC instability, observed at subauroral latitude near the nominal plasmapause when the magnetosphere is suddenly compressed by solar wind dynamic pressure variations, using induction magnetometer data obtained from Athabasca, Canada (geomagnetic latitude = 61.7 N, L ~ 4.5). We identified 9 compression-associated Pc1 waves with frequencies of ~0.5-2.0 Hz. The wave activity appears in the horizontal H (positive north) and D (positive eastward) components. All of events show low coherence between H and D components. This indicates that the Pc1 pulsations in H and D oscillate with a different frequency. Thus, we cannot determine the polarization state of the waves. We will discuss the occurrence location of compression-associated Pc1 pulsations, their spectral structure, and wave properties.

The Effects of Dietary Herbal Plant Mixture on Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility, Serological Changes and Carcass Characteristics in Finishing Pigs (비육돈에 있어서 생약제 혼합물의 급여가 성장율, 영양소 소화율, 혈청학적 변화 및 도체특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary herbal extracts mixture on the growth rate. carcass traits and serological changes in finishing pigs. For the Exp 1, eighty Duroc(Yorkshir(Landrace pigs(81.58$\pm$3.20kg average initial body weight) were used in a 45 day experiment. Dietary treatments included 1) NC(negative control; antibiotics-free diet), 2) PC(positive control; NC diet added 0.1% of chlortetracycline), 3) NCM(NC diet added 0.1% of herbal plant mixture) and 4) PCM(PC diet added 0.1% of herbal plant mixture). Through the entire experimental period, ADG of pigs fed NCM and PCM diets was greater(P<0.08) than that of pigs fed NC diet. There was interaction of ADG(P<0.01) in pigs fed NC diet with herbal plant mixture compared to pigs fed PC diet with herbal plant mixture. ADFI and G/F tended to increase in PC and NCM treatments. However, there were not significantly differences among the treatments. Total protein of serum was improved by supplementation of the herbal plant mixture in NC diet(P<0.04). For the Exp 2. one hundred Duroc(Yorkshir(Landrace pigs(77.36$\pm$2.01kg average initial body weight) were used in a 28 day experiment. Dietary treatments included 1) NC(negative control; antibiotics-free diet), 2) PC(positive control; NC diet added 0.1% of chlortetracycline), 3) PM0.1(NC diet added 0.1% of herbal plant mixture) and 4) PM0.2(NC diet added 0.2% of herbal plant mixture). Through the entire experimental period, ADG tended to increase in PC treatment. However, there was not significantly difference among the treatments. Carcass weight in NC was higher than other treatments(P<0.06). Backfat thickness was higher in pigs fed PC than other treatments. However, there was not significantly difference among the treatments. A grade appearances of carcass tended to increase in pigs fed PM(P<0.09). In conclusion, the results of the experiments suggest that pigs fed PM could be a beneficial growth performance and serogical immunity for finishing pigs.
