Doherty Amplifier Design Using a Compact Slow-Wave Microstrip Branch-Line coupler for Linearity Improvement (Compact Slow-Wave Microstrip Branch-Line Coupler를 이용한 도허티 증폭기의 선형성 개선)

  • In this paper, the linearity of Doherty amplifier has been improved by applying a compact slow-wave microstrip branch-line coupler on the output of Doherty amplifier. The proposed branch coupler has four microstrip high-low impedance resonant cells periodically placed inside the branch-line coupler to result in high slow-wave effect. The new coupler not only effectively reduces the occupied area to 30% of the conventional branch-line coupler at 1.8GHz, but also has high second harmonic suppression performance. We obtained the 3rd-order intermodulation distortion ($IMD_3$) of -31.16 dBc for CDMA applications with that of maintaining the constant power added efficiency (PAE). The IMD3 performance is improved as much as -7 dBc compared with a Doherty amplifier.

  • Among various water contaminents, organic compounds like phenol are difficult to be removed or destroyed by conventional methods under the unusual discharge conditions. The separation of phenol from aqueous solution has been carried out by several methods recently: absorption by an activated carbon, solvent extraction and liquid membrane technology. The liquid membrane based on water-oil emulsification has been tested as an alternative technology of the conventional technology. In this work, tri-n-butyl phosphate(TBP) and liquid polymers were examined as a liquid membrane in the supported liquid membrane(SLM). The feed concentration of phenol was varied and various types of liquid membranes were used to examine their effects on separation of phenol. It was found that TBP, polypropylene glycol 4000(PPG 4000) and polybutytene glycol 500(PBG 500) were proper carriers because mass transfer rates through them were much higher than or similar to that through methyl isobutyl ketone(MIBK) which was used as a conventional solvent in a solvent extraction process.

  • ABA type block copolymers composed of poly($\gamma-benzyl$ L-glutamate) (PBLG) as the A component and poly (ethylene glycol) as the B component were obtained by polymerization of $\gamma-benzyl$ L-gletamate N -carboxyanhydride, initiated by amino groups at both ends of poly(ethylene glycol) . From circular dichroism measurements in ethylene dichloride solution as well as from infrared spectTa measurements in solid state, it was found that the polypep- tide block exists in the a-helical conformation, as in PBLG homopolymer. $Poly-N^5$ (3-hydroxypropyl glutamine) (PHPG)/poly(ethylene glycol)block copolymer hydrogel was obtained by the treatment of PBLG/PBG block copolymer with the mixture of 3-ammine-1-propanol and diamlnooctane. The water content of PHPG/PEG block copolymer hydrogel was about 80wt% when the concentration of crosslinking agent was below 5 mole % per polymer.

  • 이동체 탑재형 안테나는 특성상 소형화 및 신호 추적 시간 단축이 중요한 요소이다. 이러한 특성은 위상변위기를 이용한 전자적인 빔 조향 방식으로 한층 더 보완할 수 있다. 현재 이동체에서 주로 사용되고 있는 DBS (Direct Broadcasting Satellite) 수신용 안테나는 패치 및 슬롯 형태의 안테나 소자를 배열하여 사용한다. 하지만 이러한 안테나 소자는 전방위각에 대해 인공위성 방향(앙각 45도)에서 이득 손실이 있기 때문에 위상변위기를 이용한 빔 조향 방식에서 사용하기에는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 모든 방위각에 대해 앙각 45도에서 최대 이득 특성을 갖는 안테나 소자를 이용해 이득 손실을 줄이는 것은 큰 의미가 있다. 본 논문에서는 monopole 주변에 PBG(Photonic Band Gap) 구조를 구현함으로써 표면파를 억제하여 앙각 45도 방향에서 최대 이득 특성을 보이는 안테나 소자를 제안한다.

  • A feasibility study for the fabrication of master replication with nanostructures by Nanoimprint Lithography (NIL) was investigated for application of polymer Photonic Bandgap (PBG) devices used in photonic IC. Large area gratings of $9{\times}15(mm^2)$ with p = 400 nm was successfully embossed on PMMA on silicon wafer and the embossing parameters (temperature, pressure, time) were established. A precise control of $O_2$ plasma Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) process time allowed window opening over the whole area despite the presence of wafer bending. Master replication with aspect ratio 1 was successfully fabricated, but master replication with aspect ratio 3 needs to optimize parameters. All replications were done in a NIL process.

Comparison of Methods for Stable Simultaneous Expression of Various Heterologous Genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (출아효모에서 다양한 이종 유전자의 안정적 동시발현을 위한 방법의 비교)

  • We compared two integration systems for stable expression of heterologous genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A Candida glabrata-derived gene was used as the selective marker for the Cre/loxP system, and XYLP, XYLB, GRE3, and XYL2 genes were used as model heterologous genes and ligated into the universal pRS-CMT vector. The resulting pRS-XylP, pRS-XylB, pRS-Gre3, and pRS-Xyl2 plasmids were sequentially integrated into yeast chromosome VII by four integration processes (marker rescue and gene integration). The four introduced genes were successfully expressed. Further, the pRS-PBG2 plasmid harboring expression cassettes for the four genes was constructed for one-step integration. The four genes that were introduced were stably maintained as a gene cluster and were simultaneously expressed. The one-step integration was more effective for the simultaneous integration and expression of the four genes related to xylan/xylose metabolism. This method will enable the generation of a useful biosystem through appropriate use of gene integration methods.

Development and Validation of the Post-bereavement Growth Inventory in Later Life (노년기 사별 후 성장척도의 개발 및 타당화)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the Post-bereavement Growth Inventory(PBGI) for the elderly and to evaluate its validity. The items for developing PBGI were compiled from a literature search, content validity review, and a preliminary survey. A main survey of 308 widowed persons(aged 60+) was conducted. The results were as follows. First, an exploratory factor analysis revealed six factors of the PBGI. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis supported a five-factor structure for the final 24 scale items of scale. Second, in terms of concurrent validity, the PGBI compared favorably with the "Personal Growth" scale from The Hogan Grief Reaction Checklist (HGRC: Hogan and Schimdt, 2001). Third, the results of contrast group validity tests demonstrated that the group scoring in the upper 30% on the scales of Psychological Well-being (PWB, Ryff and Keyes, 1995) and the Grief Reaction Inventory (GRI: Remondet and Hansson, 1987) showed a significantly higher degree of post-bereavement growth (PBG) than the group scoring in the lower 30%. Fourth, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ values for the five factors were between .649-.856 and .907 overall, indicating high internal consistency. Finally, education had the most significant influence on PBG. All results indicated the high validity of the PBGI. The findings from this study could provide the rationale for practical interventions from a growth-oriented perspective for widowed persons, as well as an objective assessment tool for practitioners in clinical areas.

Ku-Band Sub-Harmonically Pumped Single Balanced Resistive Mixers with a Low Pass Filter Using Photonic Band Gap

  • In this paper, sub-harmonically pumped single balanced resistive mixers are presented . Frequency bandwidth is selected for a Ku-band, which is 11.75-12.25GHz for RF, 5.375∼5.625 GHz for LO, and 1 GHz for IF signals. A rat-race hybrid is designed for the accomplishment of single balanced type. A low pass filter (LPF) with photonic band gap(PBG) structure is used for good conversion loss and unwanted harmonics suppression. Two types of mixers are suggested, which are one with no gate bias for no DC power consumption and the other with the IF amplifier for conversion gain. When a LO signal with the power of 6 dBm at 5.5 GHz is injected, a conversion loss of 12.17dB and a conversion gain of 7.83 dB are obtained for each mixer. For the both mixers , LO to RF isolation of 20 dB and LO to IF isolation of 60dB are obtained. With the RF power of -30dBm to -3dBm, the mixer shows linear characteristics region of IF. this mixer can be applied for Ku-band and other microwave communication systems.
