The authors' previous study found an interannual covariability between actual evapotranspiration (ET) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) over northern Asia. This result suggested that vegetation controls interannual variation in ET. In this prior study, NDVI data from the Pathfinder AVHRR Land (PAL) dataset were analyzed. However, studies of NDVI interannual change are subject to uncertainty, because NDVI data often contain errors associated with sensor- and atmosphere-related effects. This study is aimed toward reducing this uncertainty by employing NDVI dataset, from the Global Inventory Monitoring and Modeling Studies (GIMMS) group, in addition to PAL. The analysis was carried out for the northern Asia region from 1982 to 2000. 19-year interannual change in PAL-NDVI and GIMMS-NDVI were both compared with interannual change in model-assimilated ET. Although the correlation coefficient between GIMMS-NDVI and ET is slightly less than for PAL-NDVI and ET, for both NDVI datasets the annual maximum correlation with ET occurs in June, which is near the central period of the growing season. A significant positive correlation between GIMMS-NDVI and ET was observed over most of the vegetated land area in June as well as PAL-NDVI and ET. These results reinforce the authors' prior research that indicates the control of interannual change in ET is dominated by interannual change in vegetation activity.

The sensitivity analysis is a method to quantify to what extent the output of a model changes with the values of input parameters. This will lead to increase model accuracy through measurement validation. Three line source air quality models, HIWAY 2, PAL, and CALINE 3 were selected for this study. The input parameters analysed included wind speed, wind direction, stability, emission rate, mixing height, receptor distance, initial dispersion coefficient, surface roughness, and averaging time. It turned out that PAL model generally showed higher concentration than other two models, and that between CALINE 3 and HIWAY 2, CALINE 3 showed higher concentration than HIWAY 2 model near the line sources, but beyond a certain downwind distances HIWAY 2 model showed higher concentration. The modesl were very sensitive to wind speed especially in the range of 0 $\sim$ 1 m/s and to wind direction near the parallel wind to streets. In case of emission rate, the output concentration was directly proportional to these input parameters. And the sensitivity of the input parameters such as stability, mixing height, initial dispersion coefficient, surface roughness, and averaging time were not very significant.
To improve phenylalanine ammonia lyase (E.C.4.3.1.5-PAL) activity in recombinant Escherichia coli, Some approaches for improving phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) activity in recombinant E. coli were developed following preliminary studies by means of response surface method. The results shown that permeabilization with combination of Triton X-100, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), and acetone enriched cellular recombinant PAL activity significantly, which improved over 10-fold as compared with the control (untreat cell), as high as 181.37 U/g. The optimum values for the tested variables were Triton X-100 0.108 g/L, CTAB 0.15 g/L, and acetone 45.2%(v/v). Furthermore, a second-order model equation was suggested and then validated experimentally. It was indicated that addition of surfactants and organic solvents made the cells more permeable and therefore allowed easier access of the substrate to the enzyme and excretion of the product, which increased the rate of transport of L-phenylalanine and trans-cinnamic acids. These improved methods of PAL activity enrichment could serve as a rich enzyme source, especially in the biosynthesis of L-phenylalanine.
These days, interest and demand on smart learning has rapidly increased. Video English and mobile system based English speaking service have become popular. This study gave prototype of application to give and take voice message with world people and to give new concept of voice pen-pal beyond exchange of text messages. In modern society having rapidly increasing demand on smart learning, you can study foreign language by smart phone and communicate with foreigners by voice anytime and anywhere. The app allows global exchange to learn conversation. Recruitment of initial users and profit model have problems. We shall develop to improve problems and to solve difficulty.
Applications of liposomes as a drug carrier for the oral delivery of poorly-absorbable macromolecular drugs have been limited, because of their instability in gastrointestinal environments including pH, bile salts, and digestive enzymes. Two polysaccharides, dextran(DX) and pullulan(PL), were introduced to the preformed liposomes in order to enhance the stability. Palmitoyl derivatives of polysaccharides, palmitoyldextran(PalDX) and palmitoylpullulan(PalPL), were synthesizd and introduced to the liposomes during preparation for the same purpose of stability. The effects of these polysaccharides coating were evaluated basically by physical properties of particle size distribution and optical microscopy, then compared with uncoated liposomes by the observations of both in vitro stability and in vovo absorption characteristics. The geometric mean diameters of polysaccharide-coated liposomes were greater than that of uncoated liposome, showing the outermost polysaccharide-coated layer under the optical microscopy. In vitro stabilities of uncoated or polysaccharides-coated liposomes were measured by turbidity changes in various pH buffer solutions containing sodium choleate as bile salts. While uncoated liposome was very sensitive to bile salts, polysaccharides-coated liposomes were stable in relatively higher concentrations of sodium choleate, giving the results of better stability of PalDX- and PalPL-coated liposomes than that of DX- and PL-coated liposomes. After liposomal encapsulation of acyclovir(ACV), an antiviral agent as a model drug, it has been administered orally to rats as dose of ACV 40 mg/kg. Plasma concentrations of ACV were assayed by HPLC and analyzed by model-independent pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetic parameters of Cmax, tmax, and [AUC] have been compared.
The present paper deals with an economic order quan-tity model for items deteriorating at some constant rate with demand changing at a known and at a random point of time in the fixed pro-duction cycle.

Toxic air pollutants are investigated in a petrochemical industrial park in Taiwan by using a movable open path FTIR. The results show the qualitative and quantitative analysis of emission gases from plants, and also provide the emission rate of different compounds. More than twenty compounds under usual operation are found from this industrial park. The concentration variation with time can be correlated exactly with wind direction. It means that by changing the measuring points, the source of emission can be unambiguously identified. An EPA proved PAL model is applied to estimate the emission rate of either a point or an area source. Local atmospheric stability is determined by releasing the $SF_6$ tracer. The origins of errors come mainly from the uncertainty of source's configuration and the variation of meteorological condition. Through the continuous measurement (half an hour base in this study) of OP-FTIR sensor, the maximum value of emission rate and the annual amount of emission can be derived. The emission rate of the measured toxic gases are derived by the model technique and the results show that the emission amount are in the order of ten to hundred tons per year.
Information on forest volume, forest coverage and biomass are important for developing global perspectives about CO$_{2}$ concentration changes. Forest biomass cannot be directly measured from space yet, but remotely sensed greenness can be used to estimate biomass on decadal and longer time scales in regions of distinct seasonality, as in the north. Hence, in this research, numerical methods were used to estimate forest biomass in higher northern regions. A regression model linking Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI), to forest biomass extracted from SPOT/4 VEGETATION data and PAL 8km data in regional and continental area (N40-N70) respectively. Statistical tests indicated that the regression model can be used to represent the changes of forest biomass carbon pools and sinks at high latitude regions over years 1982-2000. This study suggests that the implementation of estimation of biomass based on 8-km resolution NOAA/AVHRR PAL and SPOT-4/VEGETATION data could be detected over a range of land cover change processes of interest for global biomass change studies.

Recently we extended the fuzzy model for rule based systems incorporating an importance factor for each rule. The model permits for both unrestricted as well as non-negative importance factors. We use this extended model to design a fuzzy rule based classifier system which uses both the firing strength of the rule and the importance factor to decide the class label. The effectiveness of the scheme is established using several data sets.

This paper suggests the development of dynamic forecasting model for short-term power demand based on Radial Basis Function Network and Pal's GLVQ algorithm. Radial Basis Function methods are often compared with the backpropagation training, feed-forward network, which is the most widely used neural network paradigm. The Radial Basis Function Network is a single hidden layer feed-forward neural network. Each node of the hidden layer has a parameter vector called center. This center is determined by clustering algorithm. Theatments of classical approached to clustering methods include theories by Hartigan(K-means algorithm), Kohonen(Self Organized Feature Maps %3A SOFM and Learning Vector Quantization %3A LVQ model), Carpenter and Grossberg(ART-2 model). In this model, the first approach organizes the load pattern into two clusters by Pal's GLVQ clustering algorithm. The reason of using GLVQ algorithm in this model is that GLVQ algorithm can classify the patterns better than other algorithms. And the second approach forecasts hourly load patterns by radial basis function network which has been constructed two hidden nodes. These nodes are determined from the cluster centers of the GLVQ in first step. This model was applied to forecast the hourly loads on Mar. $4^{th},\;Jun.\;4^{th},\;Jul.\;4^{th},\;Sep.\;4^{th},\;Nov.\;4^{th},$ 1995, after having trained the data for the days from Mar. $1^{th}\;to\;3^{th},\;from\;Jun.\;1^{th}\;to\;3^{th},\;from\;Jul.\;1^{th}\;to\;3^{th},\;from\;Sep.\;1^{th}\;to\;3^{th},\;and\;from\;Nov.\;1^{th}\;to\;3^{th},$ 1995, respectively. In the experiments, the average absolute errors of one-hour ahead forecasts on utility actual data are shown to be 1.3795%.
