  • MnPSO-34 and Mn-impregnated SAPO-34 (Mn-SAPO-34) sample were prepared with various manganese contents and studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) and electron spin-echo modulation (ESEM). Electron spin-echo modulation analysis of 0.07mol % Mn(relative to p) in MnAPSO-34 with adsorbed D$_2$O shows two deuteriums at 0.25 nm and two at 0.36 nm from Mn. This suggests that two waters hydrate an MnO4 configuration with a D-O bond orientation for the waters as expect for a negatively charged site at low manganese content (0.07 mol%), the ESR spectra of MnAPSO-34 and MnH-SAPO-34 exhibit the same parameters (g 2.02 and A 87 G), but the spectra obtained from MnAPSO-34 samples are better resolved. TGA of as-synthesized MnAPSO-34 shows that the decomposition temperature in the range 200-$600^{\circ}C$ of the morpholine is 12$^{\circ}C$ higher than that in as-synthesized MnH-SAPO-34. Infrared spectra shows that the position of a band at about 15 cm-1 toward higher energy in MnAPSO-34 versus MnH-SAPO-34. The modulation depth of the two-pulse ESE of MnAPSO-34 with absorbed D$_2$O is deeper than that of MnH-SAPO-34 with absorbed D$_2$O. Three-pulse ESEM of MnAPSO-34 and MnH-SAPO-34 with absorbed deuterium oxide shows that the local environments of manganese in the hydrated samples are different, suggesting that Mn(II) is framework substituted in MnAPSO-34 since it obviously occupies an extra-framework position in MnH-SAPO-34

  • The purpose of the study was to develop and test the model for the quality of life in mothers of children with nephrotic syndrome. A hypothetical model was constructed on the basis of previous studies and a review of literature. The conceptual framework was built around ten constructs. Exogenous variables included in this model were mother's health, father's health, marital intimacy, mother's attitude on children, economic state, side effect of steroid, severity of illness and social support. Endogenous variables were mother's burden and quality of life. Empirical data for testing the hypothetical model were collected by using a self-report questionnaire from 152 mothers of children with nephrotic syndrom at the outpatient clinics and in the hospital. The data was collected from May, 1999 to August, 1999.Reliability of the seven instruments was tested with Cronbach's alpha which ranged from 0.71 - 0.92.For the data analysis, SPSS 8.0 WIN program and LISREL 8.20 WIN program were used for descriptive statistics and covariance structural analysis. The results of covariance structural analysis were as follow :1. The hypothetical model showed a good fit with the empirical data. [x2 = .56, df = 3, p = .90(p>.05 ), GFI = .99, AGFI = .99, RMSR = .005.] 2. For the parsimony of model, a modified model was constructed by deleting 1 variable and excluding 2 paths according to the criteria of statistical significance and meaning.3. The modified model also showed a good fit with the data[x2 = 2.83, df = 7, p = .90( p>.05 ), GFI = 1.00, AGFI = .97, RMSR = .011].The result of the testing of the hypothesis were as follows : 1. Mother's health(γ21 = .26, t = 4.16), father's health(γ22 = .19, t = 2.92), marital intimacy(γ23 = .26, t = 4.13) and social support(γ28 = .12, t = 2.03) had a significant direct effect on the quality of life.2. Mother's burden(β21 = -.20, t = -3.10) had a significant negative direct effect on the quality of life.3. Mother's attitude on children(γ14 = -.34, t = .-4.57), mother's health(γ11 = -.22, t = -2.96) and side effect of steroid (γ16 = -.23, t = .-2.69) had a significant direct negative effect on the burden. The result of this study showed that mother's health, marital intimacy, mother's burden, father's health, and social support had a significant direct effect on the quality of life. Mother's attitude on children, mother's health, and side effect of steroid had a significant direct effect on mother's burden. These six variables, mother's health, marital intimacy, father's health, social support, mother's attitude on children and side effect of steroid were identified as relatively important variables. The results of this study suggest, it needed to determine the nursing intervention will alleviate mother's burden and promote a greater quality of life in mothers of children with nephrotic syndrom.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a program for the history of science and technology in order for the technical high school students to understand the nature of science (NOS). The program was composed of the six topics based on the textbooks such as convergence science and physics I, and was taught to 290 10th graders at a technical high school located in the metropolitan area. The questionnaire about NOS was asked the students before and after the instruction, so as to investigate the effect of the program on improving their understandings of NOS. The analysis followed t-test and ANOVA using SPSS 23.0 for Windows program. The questionnaire based on the conceptual framework of the four themes of the NOS (Lee, 2014). The research findings were as follows. First, the program was effective in improving their understanding of NOS since the t-test result was significant statistically for the overall domains of NOS (p<.01). Second, there was no significant gender differences in the understanding of NOS among technical high school students (p<.05), neither did their majors (p<.05). Third, all domains in NOS were statistically correlated (p<.01), and in a particular, each domain was consistently correlated with the aspect of the nature of the interactions among science, technology, and society. Hence, the further studies should be conducted to examine how the history of science and technology effects the understanding of the NOS and how the domains in NOS affected each other.

  • This paper presents a novel active noise control (ANC) system using least mean square (LMS) algorithm and neural network approach for decreasing acoustic noise signals inside high-speed trains. We construct a LMS framework as a nominal ANC system and additionally design an artificial single-layered perceptron model as an auxiliary ANC which is aimed to reduce real-time residuary noise due to its nonstationary and uncertain nature. Parameter vector of the hybrid ANC is determined through online estimation to realize an adaptive ANC configuration by means of the steepest descent algorithm. We achieve simulation experiment to demonstrate the proposed ANC system employing realistic acoustic noise signals measured in Korea Train eXpress (KTX).

  • Laryngeal framework surgery to improve change the voice is a challenging development in phoniatric surgery. Basically two categories can be distinguished : (1) attempted medialization of the vocal fold, as for the treatment of paralytic dysphonias (2) adjustment of the vocal fold's tension of transsexuals or mutational dysphonia. Vocal pitch can be elevated by various surgical technique 1) cricothyroid approximation 2) A-P expansion of the thyroid ala 3) longitudinal incision in the cords 4) intrachondral injection of the steroid, and 5) evaporation of the cords by $CO_2$ laser. We have experienced a case of pitch elevation procedure after transsexual operation. After transsexual operation, he had received anterior commissure laryngoplasty modified from Le Jeune with no change in voice pitch(Fo=110Hz). 8 monthes later, he had received cricothyroid approximation resulting in pitch elevation(Fo=160Hz).

  • Process mining aims at mining valuable information from process execution results (called "event logs"). Even though process mining techniques have proven to be a valuable tool, the mining results from real process logs are usually too complex to interpret. The main cause that leads to complex models is the diversity of process logs. To address this issue, this paper proposes a trace clustering approach that splits a process log into homogeneous subsets and applies existing process mining techniques to each subset. Based on log profiles from a process log, the approach uses existing clustering techniques to derive clusters. Our approach are implemented in ProM framework. To illustrate this, a real-life case study is also presented.

  • Mobile operators in saturated markets increasingly favor mobile network sharing (MNS) over facility-based competition. Previous research examining MNS primarily focused on its positive effects, while the negative effects were largely overlooked. This study proposes a decision-making model using an analytic hierarchy process technique to evaluate decision-making criteria among various types of MNS policies. The decision-making model was applied to Wireless Broadband services in Korea to determine the relative importance of both positive and negative evaluation criteria and preference among multiple types of MNS policies. Positive evaluation criteria (that is, efficiency) were far greater in importance than negative evaluation criteria (that is, competition harm). The preference for adopting MNS among five alternative approaches was also revealed. The study findings offer immediate policy insights in Korea and provide a decision-making framework for policy makers in other countries to utilize.
