The inky cap, Coprinellus congregatus, produces several laccase isozymes during its life cycle: both hyphal tip laccase and sclerotial laccase are involved in the fungal development. When this fungus was transferred to an acid liquid medium (pH 4.0-4.5), a new laccase was synthesized and secreted into the culture supernatant. In order to examine its regulation by external pH, green fluorescent protein gene was ligated at the downstream of the promoters having different lengths. These expression vectors having different promoter lengths were inserted into the fungal transformation vector, pBARGEM7-1. These expression vectors were introduced to the mating type a1 and a2 monokaryons, and the transformants were selected by the phosphinothricin resistance. Transformant a1 (a1TF) and transformant a2 (a2TF) were mated with each other to generate homozygotic dikaryon transformants. All these transformants were grown in neutral liquid medium for 5 days, and then the whole cell homogenates were transferred to the acidic liquid medium (pH 4.1). After 36 h incubation at $25^{\circ}C$, cells were harvested for the analysis of GFP expression. GFP expression was detected in the transformant having full-length promoter (2.0 kb), but other transformants having shorter length promoter (shorter than 1.29 kb) failed to show the fluorescence. Therefore, the acid-responsive element in the laccase promoter should be localized between -2.0 kb ~ -1.29 kb region.
This note contains the following results for a ring A : (1) A is simple Artinian if and only if A is a prime right YJ-injective, right and left V-ring with a maximal right annihilator ; (2) if A is a left quasi-duo ring with Jacobson radical J such that $_{A}$A/J is p-injective, then the ring A/J is strongly regular ; (3) A is von Neumann regular with non-zero socle if and only if A is a left p.p.ring containing a finitely generated p-injective maximal left ideal satisfying the following condition : if e is an idempotent in A, then eA is a minimal right ideal if and only if Ae is a minimal left ideal ; (4) If A is left non-singular, left YJ-injective such that each maximal left ideal of A is either injective or a two-sided ideal of A, then A is either left self-injective regular or strongly regular : (5) A is left continuous regular if and only if A is right p-injective such that for every cyclic left A-module M, $_{A}$M/Z(M) is projective. ((5) remains valid if 《continuous》 is replaced by 《self-injective》 and 《cyclic》 is replaced by 《finitely generated》. Finally, we have the following two equivalent properties for A to be von Neumann regula. : (a) A is left non-singular such that every finitely generated left ideal is the left annihilator of an element of A and every principal right ideal of A is the right annihilator of an element of A ; (b) Change 《left non-singular》 into 《right non-singular》in (a).(a).
Analysis of genetic structure in Kimpo natural population of Drosophila was carried out by utilizing the deleterious gene on the second chromosome of Drosophila melanogaster. Male flies tested were continuously collected for eight years; in late September 1974 and 1981-1987. The frequency of deleterious gene (lethal plus semilethal) ranged from 27.02% in 1983 to 41.48% in 1987, and the values estimated from the eight years samples are highly signihcent from each other with a homogenety test (X$^2$=52.0157, d.f.=28, P<0.005). Allelic rates ranged from 1.30% in 1981 to 5.03% in 1974. And the effective population size by using the rate of allelism was estimated average at 3, 300 pairs. Elimination rate by homozygous of lethal gene ranged from 0.0004 in 1984 to 0.0019 in 1974, and that is for smaller than mutation rate(0.005) at second chromosome. We suppose that stable frequency (about 20%) lethal genes of D. melanogaster in Kimpo natual population are maintained by invade of P-type mutator factor (P element) versus eliminated in heterozygous and homozygous condition of lethal gene.
we consider the hp-version to solve non-constant coefficients elliptic equations $-div(a{\nabla}u)=f$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded polygonal domain $\Omega$ in $R^2$. In [6], M. Suri obtained an optimal error-estimate for the hp-version: ${\parallel}u-u^h_p{\parallel}_{1,\Omega}{\leq}Cp^{(\sigma-1)}h^{min(p,\sigma-1)}{\parallel}u{\parallel}_{\sigma,\Omega}$. This optimal result follows under the assumption that all integrations are performed exactly. In practice, the integrals are seldom computed exactly. The numerical quadrature rule scheme is needed to compute the integrals in the variational formulation of the discrete problem. In this paper we consider a family $G_p=\{I_m\}$ of numerical quadrature rules satisfying certain properties, which can be used for calculating the integrals. Under the numerical quadrature rules we will give the variational form of our non-constant coefficients elliptic problem and derive an error estimate of ${\parallel}u-\tilde{u}^h_p{\parallel}_{1,\Omega}$.
Xenobiotics and their reactive intermediates bind to cellular macromolecules and/or generate oxidative stress. which provoke deleterious effects on the cell function. Induction of xenobiotic-biotrans-forming enzymes and antioxidant molecules is an important defense mechanism against such insults. A group of genes involved in the defense mechanism. e.g. genes encoding glutathione S-transferases. NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase, UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UDP-GT) and ${\gamma}$-glutamylcysteine synthetase (GGCS). have a common regulatory sequence, Antioxidant or Electrophile Responsive Element (ARE/EpRE). Recently. Nrf2. discovered as a homologue of erythroid transcription factor p45 NF-E2, was shown to bind ARE/EpRE and induce the expression of these defense genes. Mice that lack Nrf2 show low basal levels of expression and/or impaired induction of these genes. which makes the animals highly sensitive to xenobiotic toxicity. Indeed. we show here that nrf2-deficient mice had a higher mortality than did the wild-type mice when exposed to acetaminophen (APAP). Detailed analyses of APAP hepatotoxicity in the nrf2 knockout mice indicate that a large amount of reactive APAP metabolites was generated in the livers due to the impaired basal expression of two detoxifying enzyme genes, UDP-GT (Ugt1a6) and GGCS. while the cytochrome P450 content was unchanged. Thus. the studies using the nrf2 knockout mice clearly demonstrate significance of the expression of Nrf2-regulated enzymes in protection against xenobiotic toxicity.

This paper deals with the classifying spaces of finite groups. To any finite group G we associate a space BG with the property that .pi.$_{1}$(BG)=G, .pi.$_{i}$ (BG)=0 for i>1. BG is called the classifying space of G. Consider the problem of finding a stable splitting BG= $X_{1}$$^{V}$$X_{1}$$^{V}$..$^{V}$$X_{n}$ localized at pp. Ideally the $X_{i}$ 's are indecomposable, thus displaying the homotopy type of BG in the simplest terms. Such a decomposition naturally splits $H^{*}$(BG). The main purpose of this paper is to give the classification theorem in stable homotopy theory for groups with periodic cohomology i.e. cyclic Sylow p-subgroups for p an odd prime and to calculate some universal stable element. In this paper, all cohomology groups are with Z/p-coefficients and p is an odd prime.prime.
Laboratory leaching experiment study carried out to estimate a extent of heavy metals that could be leached out when acid rain(pH 5.0-3.0) and strong acidic solution(pH 2.5-1.0) reacted with tailings and contaminated soils from abandoned metal mines. In slightly to moderately acid conditions(pH 5.0-3.0), As, Pb and Zn dissolutions became significantly increased with decreased pH in tailing, while dissolution of these elements was very limited in contaminated soil. These results suggested that moderately acid rainwater leaches Pb, As and Zn from the tailings, while these elements would remain fixed in contaminated soil. In the pH range of 2.5-1.0(strongly acid condition), Zn, Cd and Cu concentrations of leachate rapidly increased with decreased pH in contaminated soil, while Pb, As and Co dissolutions became importantly increased in tailings. The experimental solubility of Zn. Cd and Cu was very low even at very low pH values(up to pH 1), except for CY4(Cheongyang mine). These can result from an incomplete dissolution or the presence of less soluble mineral phases. So, the solubility of heavy metals depends not only on the pH values of leachate but also on the speciation of metals associated with contaminated soils and tailings. The relative mobility of each element within failings at the pH 5.0-3.0 of the reaction solution was in the order of Pb>Zn>Cd>Co=Cu>As. In case of pH 2.5-1.0 of the reaction solution, the relative mobility of each element within contaminated soils and tailings were in the order of Zn>Cd>Cu>Co>Pb=As for contaminated soils, and Pb>Zn>Cd>hs>Co>Cu for tailings. The obtained results could be useful for assessing the environmental effects and setting up the restoration plan in the areas.
By screening a subtracted cDNA library constructed with mRNA obtained from the longissimus dorsi muscles of F1 hybrids Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire and their Yorkshire female parents, we isolated two partial sequences coding for the H3-K4-specific methyltransferase (KIAA1717) and skeletal muscle myosin regulatory light chain (HUMMLC2B) genes. In the present work we investigated two SNPs, one (C1354T) at the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of KIAA1717 and one (A345G) at the SINE (PRE-1) element of HUMMLC2B, in a resource population derived from crossing Chinese Meishan and Large White pig. The selected pigs were genotyped by means of a PCR-RFLP protocol. Significant associations were observed for the KIAA1717 C1354T polymorphic site with thorax-waist backfat thickness (p<0.05), buttock backfat thickness (p<0.05), average backfat thickness (p<0.05), loin eye height (p<0.05), loin eye area (p<0.05), carcass length to 1$^{st}$ spondyle (p<0.01) and carcass length to 1st rib (p<0.01). HUMMLC2B A345G were significantly associated with loin eye width (p<0.05), loin eye area (p<0.05). Further studies are needed to confirm these preliminary results.

This paper describes a MEMS-based micro-fluxgate magnetic sensing element using Ni$\_$0.8/Fe$\_$0.2/ film formed by electroplating. The micro-fluxgate magnetic sensor composed of a thin film magnetic core and micro-structure solenoids for the pick-up and the excitation coils, is developed by using MEMS technologies in order to take advantage of low-cost, small size and lower power consumption in the fabrication. A copper with 20${\mu}$m width and 3${\mu}$m thickness is electroplated on Cr (300${\AA}$) / Au (1500${\AA}$) films for the pick-up (42turn) and the excitation (24turn) coils. In order to improve the sensitivity of the sensing element, we designed the magnetic core into a rectangular-ring shape to reduce the magnetic flux leakage. An electroplated permalloy film with the thickness of 3${\mu}$m is obtained under 2000 gauss to induce magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic core has the high DC effective permeability of ~1,100 and coercive field of ~0.1 Oe. The fabricated sensing element using rectangular-ring shaped magnetic film has the sensitivity of about 150 V/T at the excitation frequency of 2 MHz and the excitation voltage of 4.4 V$\_$p p/. The power consumption is estimated to be 50mW.
