  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the degree of depression, cognitive function, communication ability, and the quantitative electroencephalogram (EEG) in elderly individuals with hearing loss and to investigate their inter-relationship. Hearing-impaired elderly participants, aged 60 years or older (37 men and 26 women) who visited the S Hearing Rehabilitation Center in Y City from June 20, 2020, to September 3, 2020, participated voluntarily after a recruitment announcement. The participants' overall characteristics, depression, and cognitive functions were evaluated with a structured questionnaire. The Word Recognition Score (WRS) was evaluated with an audiometer using the Korean Standard Monosyllabic Word Lists for Adults (KS-MWL-A). The quantitative EEG was measured with dry electrodes using a 2-channel EEG on the frontal lobes Fp1 and Fp2. The results are summarized as follows: Communication ability showed a positive correlation with the left-right symmetry of the frontal lobes (**p<.01) and a negative correlation with right-brain mental distraction and stress (*p<.05). In the difference WRS test for each group, the left-right symmetry of the frontal lobes (**p<.01) showed the greatest correlation with communication ability. Our results suggest that the left-right symmetry of the frontal lobes can be a biomarker indicative of the communication ability of older people with hearing impairments.

  • SIn this paper, we introduce our experience for designing and implementing new concept of a global XML-based Peer-to-Peer (P2P) engine to support various P2P applications, and interconnection among PC, Web and mobile computing environments. The proposed P2P engine can support to heterogeneous data exchanges and web interconnection by facilitating with the text-base XML while message exchange are necessary. It is also to provide multi-level security functions as well as to apply different types of security algorithms. The system consist of four modules; a message dispatcher to scheduling and filtering the message, a SecureNet to providing security services and data transmission, a Discovery Manager to constructing peer-to-peer networking, and a Repository Manager to processing data management including XML documents. As a feasibility test, we implement various P2P services such as chatting as a communication service, white-board as an authoring tool set during collaborative working, and a file system as a file sharing service. We also compared the proposed system to a Gnutella in order to measure performance of the systems.

  • Recently, the small sized wireless terminals have problems of processing of large sized file because of the trends of a small sized terminals and a large sized files. Moreover, the web servers or the file servers have problems of the overload because of the concentration with many number of files to the them. Also, There is a security vulnerability of the data processing caused by the processing with a unit of the independent file. To resolve the problems, this paper proposes a new scheme of fat splining distribution using the P2P networks with the mesh topology. The proposed scheme is to distribute blocks of file into any peer of P2P networks. It can do that the small sized wireless terminals can process the large size file, the overload problems of a web or file servers can solve because of the decentralized files, and, the security vulnerability of the data processing is mitigated because of the distributed processing with a unit of the blocks to the peers.

  • Recently, there are many researches for P2P network. P2P network technologies are a good solution about making a wide spread distributed computing in the internet environment. The recent algorithms developed by several research groups for the lookup problem present a simple and general interface, a distributed hash table (DHT). In this paper, we also introduce new schemes that enhance the available rate of an object in the MagicSquare network. Replication scheme is to replicate an object with many replicas and save them to several nodes. Fragmentation scheme is to divide an object into several fragments and save them to several nodes. Replicated Fragmentation scheme is to mix replication scheme and fragmentation scheme. We will show result of simulation for our the proposed scheme.

  • When the public key e and the composite number n=pq are disclosed but not the private key d in an asymmetric-key RSA, message decryption is carried out by obtaining ${\phi}(n)=(p-1)(q-1)=n+1-(p+q)$ and subsequently computing $d=e^{-1}(mod{\phi}(n))$. The most commonly used decryption algorithm is integer factorization of n/p=q or $a^2{\equiv}b^2$(mod n), a=(p+q)/2, b=(q-p)/2. But many of the RSA numbers remain unfactorable. This paper therefore applies baby-step giant-step discrete logarithm and $2^k$-ary modular exponentiation to directly obtain ${\phi}(n)$. The proposed algorithm performs a reverse baby-step and $2^k$-ary adult-step. As a results, it reduces the execution time of basic adult-step to $1/2^k$ times and the memory $m={\lceil}\sqrt{n}{\rceil}$ to l, $a^l$ > n, hence obtaining ${\phi}(n)$ by executing within l times.

  • Background: As the public interest in chemical substances found in daily life has increased, environmental health education content has been developed and related studies have been conducted. However, there is still insufficient research on methodologies for environmental health education. Objectives: This study aimed to explore risk communication strategies by focusing on N-nitrosamines in rubber balloons. Methods: In this study, two different health messages were composed: a gain-framed message emphasizing the advantages of practicing the health behavior and a loss-framed message emphasizing the negative consequences of not practicing the health behavior. The effect of the message containing risk information was evaluated by measuring the health beliefs and health behavior potential for female caregivers. As the Environmental Health Act defines a child as "a person under the age of 13," a total of 131 women with children under the age of 13 were studied. Results: The age, awareness, and interest of the participants in the gain frame group and these in the loss frame group were similar. In terms of message framing effect, the gain-framed message was more effective in terms of health belief and potential health behavior than was the loss-framed message. As a result of an independent t-test, among the six variables of health belief model the message effect was statistically significant at the level of p<0.05 in three variables: perceived severity (t=2.287, df=129, p=0.024), self-efficacy (t=2.123, df=129, p=0.036), and health behavior potential (t=2.094, df=129, p=0.038). Conclusions: This study presented a direction for effective environmental health education by studying the effects of risk communication messages based on scientific evidence. It is necessary to extend the scope of environmental health education research by expanding research into various household products.
