Nonlinear absorption in charge transfer films

  • Nonlinear optical absorption in solid films of poly(3-octyl thiophene) (P3OT) sensitized with methanofullerene was inverstigated for wacelengths from 620 to 960nm. The nonlinear absorption is ehnanced over that in either of the component materials by more than two orders orders of magitude at 760nm. The large nonlinearity results from effient photoinduced interm olecular charge transfer from P3OT to methanofullerene, followed by absorption in the charge separated excited state. P3OT/fullerene films are promising as reverse saturable absorbers and the optical limiting performance is demonstrated at 760nm.

Effects of Gestational Status on Apparent Absorption and Retention of Copper and Zinc in Mature Angus Cows and Suffolk Ewes

  • Six mature purebred Angus cows ($3.5{\pm}1.5$ years of age, $631.36{\pm}8.63kg$), three pregnant ($250{\pm}7$ days pregnant) and three non-pregnant and eight mature Suffolk ewes ($5{\pm}1.2$ years of age, $68.18{\pm}2.3kg$) four pregnant $115{\pm}5$ days pregnant) and four nonpregnant were utilized in a five-day metabolic trial to determine the effects of gestational status (pregnant vs. non-pregnant) on apparent absorption and retention of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn). Animals were selected based on body weight, age, and gestational status, and randomly assigned to metabolic crates for total fecal and urine collection. Animals were allowed to acclimate to their new environment for seven days. Pregnant and non-pregnant cows and ewes were then paired (within a species) by body weight and pair-fed throughout the 5 day collection period. Copper and Zn intakes were similar for pregnant and non-pregnant animals within a species. Apparent absorption of Cu (p<0.06) and Zn (p<0.04) were higher in pregnant cows relative to non-pregnant cows. Pregnant cows also had a higher apparent retention of Cu (p<0.05) and Zn (p<0.06) relative to non-pregnant cows. Pregnant ewes had a higher (p<0.01) apparent absorption and retention of Zn compared to non-pregnant ewes. However, apparent absorption and retention of Cu were similar for pregnant and non-pregnant ewes. These data indicate that certain physiological and/or metabolic parameters are altered in pregnant cows and ewes consuming an alfalfa-based diet that enhance the apparent absorption and retention of certain trace minerals.

식이내 단백질의 수준과 종류가 흰쥐의 Cadmium중독에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dietary Protein Level and Source on Cadmium Intoxicification in Rats)

  • This study was performed to invstigate the effect of dietary protein level and source on cadmium intoxicification in rats. Forty-eight male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain weighing 171$\pm$3g were blocked into 8 groups of 6 animals according to body weigth, and were raised for 30days. Eight experimental diets different with cadmium(0ppm, 400ppm)and protein(15%, 40%) levels and protein source[casien, I.S.P.(isolated soy protein)] were given to animals for 30days. Food intake, weight gain, food efficiency ratio, liver weight, kidney weight and femur weight were lower in cadmium added group, and higher in high protein groups(40% protein) than medium protein groups(15% protein). But, dietary protein source had no influence on them. Cadmium concerntration of liver was higher in rats fed casein than I.S.P. groups, and cadmium concentration in intestine was higher in high protein groups. In femur both high protein and I.S.P.diets increased cadmium concentrations. MT concdentrations in liver, kidney and intestine were higher in cadmium added group, and kidney intestine MT concentration were higher in high protein group. Absorption and retention rates of cadmium were lower in rat fed I.S.P. than animal fed casein among medium protein groups and cadmium concentration in blood and liver of I.S.P groups were lower than casein groups. But absorption and retention rates of cadmium were similar in high casein and I.S.P. groups. Renal damage by cadmium administration was not seen in all groups. Absorption rates of zinc and copper competing with cadmium in absorption process were lower in high protein groups than medium protein groups and lower in rats fed I.S.P. than casein. In conclusion, weight gain, F.E.R, and MT concentraion of high protein groups were higher than those of medium protein groups and absorption and retention rates of cadmium were lower in high protein groups. From these results, it was shown that cadmium toxicity was alleviated by high dietary protein. Meanwhile, the effect of dietary source on the cadmium toxicity was different with protein level. In medium protein groups absorption and retention rates of cadmium were much lower in rats fed I.S.P. than casein. In high protein groups, cadmium toxicity was not influenced by protein source and absorption and retention rates of cadmium were not different between casein and I.S.P. groups.

정상지원자에서 Cimetidine과 Cyclosporine의 약물상호작용 (Drug Interaction of Cimetidine and Cyclosporine in Human)

  • The effect of cimetidine administration on the pharmacokinetic parameters of cyclosporine were determined in healthy voluteers. This study was performed in 10 volunteers of age ranged 22-48 years and body weight 48-62 kg. This study was performed with cross-over design. Mono cyclosporine and cyclosporine metabolites was extracted from whole blood analysed by fluororescence polarization immune assay (TDX-FLX, Abbott). After coadministration of cimetidine (300 mg) with cyclosporine (300 mg) orally, maximum concentration of mono cyclosporine was significantly increased $1221{\pm}143\;ng/ml\;to\;1562{\pm}184\;ng/ml$ (P<0.05), area under the time curve of cyclosporine (12 hr) also was significantly increased $7478{\pm}829\;ng/ml{\cdot}hr\;to\;9721{\pm}879\;ng/ml{\cdot}hr$ (P<0.05) and absolute baioavailability of cyclosporine was increased $50\pm5.6\%\;to\;57.6\pm6.1\%\;(P<0.05)$ compared to control group. The blood concentrations of cyclopsorine metabolites were significantly decrased (P<0.05) after coadministration of cimetidine. In cimetidine pretreated group, blood mono cyclosporine concentrations were increased significan시y $1220.0\pm203.00\;ng/ml\;to\;1510.0\pm204.00\;ng/ml$ compared with control group (P<0.05). In the mono cyclosporine pharmacokinetic parameter after oral administration absorption rate and maximum concentration were significantly higher in cimetidine coadministered and pretreated group than control group (P<0.05). The ratio of metabolites and mono cyclosporine concentrations was decreased significantly from $70.8\%\;in\;control\;to\;34.8\%$ in coadministration of cimetidine orally. As matter of facts these reults are considered to inhibition of cyclosporine hepatic metabolism and increasing of cyclosporine absorption rate in gastrointestinal tract because of maintaining cyclosporine stability in elevated gastric pH by cimetidine. We considered, it appeares that cimetidine increase bioavailability of cyclosporine by increasing oral absorption and by decreasing hepatic clearance. But the absorption and clearance of cyclosporine was highly variable individually, and therefore we consider that cyclosporine blood level monitoring would be essential in patients with cimetidine co-administration.

Phytate와 저 Ca 섭취가 흰쥐의 성장기간 동안 Ca, P, Zn 대사에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Phytate and Low Dietary Calcium on Calcium, Phosphate and Zinc Metabolism by Growing Rats)

  • A factorial experiment was conducted to determine the influence of phytate(0 or 10g/kg diet) and calcium (Ca)(3 or 10g/kg diet) intakes on Ca, P and Zn metabolism by growing female rats. Food intake and weight were similar for the all groups, however, phytate ingestion for six weeks depressed femur growth. The low Ca plus phytate group showed the lowest Ca content of total femur and this was related to a significant decrease of Ca retention. Phytate intake depressed zinc(Zn) absorption in the first metabolic collection. This inhibitory effect of phytate on Zn absorption was improved in the low Ca plus phytate group after several weeks. Impared Zn absorption however remained in the high Ca plus phytate group which was reflected in the lowest Zn content of femur, phytate intake with high Ca also depressed phosphorous(P) absorption and serum and urinary P. These adverse effects of phytate on Zn and P absorption when the dietary Ca was high could explain reduced femur weight despite the highest concentration of femur Ca(mg/g ash) in this group. Results suggest that phytate can adversely affect not only Ca metabolism but Zn and P utilization. Thus, for the normal bone growth when phytate intake is high, the ingesion of Ca, P, Zn and other minerals should be enhanced.

Lactobacillus brevis G101 Inhibits the Absorption of Monosodium Glutamate in Mice

  • To evaluate the effect of Lactobacillus brevis G-101 on absorption of monosodium glutamate (MSG), we orally administered MSG with or without G-101 in mice and measured the maximum concentration (Cmax) and blood concentration curve (AUC) of MSG and ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Oral administration of G-101 ($1{\times}10^9CFU/mouse$) potently inhibited Cmax and AUC of MSG by 97.8% and 94.3%, respectively (p < 0.05), but increased those of GABA by 32.1% and 67.7%, respectively (p < 0.05). G-101 inhibited the absorption of MSG. These results suggest that G-101 may reduce the side effect of MSG by inhibiting the absorption of MSG.

광흡수 소자를 이용한 광온도 센서 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of fiber-optic temperature sensor system base on optical absorption device)

  • A fiber-optic temperature sensor utilizing an optical absorption device (InP) was fabricated. The spectrum of transmitted light through an InP device was obtained at the three temperatures(249 K, 369 K). A stabilized LED(light emmiting diode) driver, photoreceiver, and signal proocessing electronics were designed. An intensity referencing technique was adopted in order to minimize the fluctuation of output signal due to external pertubation of the transmitting optical fiber. The optical absorption edge of the InP device moves to longer wavelength at a rate of 0.42 nm / K, and energy gap of InP is 1.35 eV at room temperature. From these results, it is concluded that the InP device has temperature dynamic range of 300 K with LED of center wavelength of 940nm and spectral width of 50nm. The designed fiber-optic temperature sensor system showed good linearity within the temperature range from -30$^{\circ}C$ to + 150$^{\circ}C$.

무기담채를 이용한 폐수처리

  • 황토볼을 이용하여 폐수처리를 한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 보였다. 흐름도 A에서는 T-P 0.5ppm이하, T-N 1.0 ppm이하, COD 10ppm 이하였으며, 흐름도 B에서는 T-P 0.3ppm이하, T-N 5.0 ppm이하, COD 15 ppm 이하의 결과를 보여 주었다. 흐름도 C에서는 T-P 0.6ppm이하, T-N 10 ppm이하, COD 15 ppm 이하였으며, 흐름도 D에서는 T-P 1 ppm, T-N 8 ppm이하, COD 20ppm 이하의 결과를 보여 주었다. BOD는 각 흐름도 A, B, C, D에서 COD보다 높은 경우에는 6 ppm, 낮은 경우에는 3 ppm 정도의 차이를 보였다. SS는 각 공정에 따라 그다지 큰 차이를 보이고 있지 않으며, 1.0 처리 용량 Ton/day으로 계산 할 경우에 5 - 20 g/day 정도를 보이고 있다. 이러한 결과치는 하수종말처리장(특별대책지역 및 잠실수중보권지역)의 2 ppm 및 폐수처리시설(농공단지, 오${\cdot}$폐수처리시설 포함)의 T-P 8 ppm, T-N 질소성분 60 ppm이내의 탄소원 COD 40 ppm 이내의 기준에 해당하는 수치의 좋은 결과로 황토볼을 이용한 폐수처리 시스템의 가능성을 보여주고 있다.

Commonly Used Surfactant, Tween 80, Improves Absorption of P-Glycoprotein Substrate, Digoxin, in Rats

  • Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) is a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant commonly used as an ingredient in dosing vehicles for pre-clinical in vivo studies (e.g., pharmacokinetic studies, etc.). Tween 80 increased apical to basolateral permeability of digoxin in Caco-2 cells suggesting that Tween 80 is an in vitro inhibitor of P-gp. The overall objective of the present study was to investigate whether an inhibition of P-gp by Tween 80 can potentially influence in vivo absorption of P-gp substrates by evaluating the effect of Tween 80 on the disposition of digoxin (a model P-gp substrate with minimum metabolism) after oral administration in rats. Rats were dosed orally with digoxin (0.2 mg/kg) formulated in ethanol (40%, v/v) and saline mixture with and without Tween 80 (1 or 10%, v/v). Digoxin oral AUC increased 30 and 61% when dosed in 1 % and 10% Tween 80, respectively, compared to control (P<0.05). To further examine whether the increase in digoxin AUC after oral administration of Tween 80 is due, in part, to a systemic inhibition of digoxin excretion in addition to an inhibition of P-gp in the GI tract, a separate group of rats received digoxin intravenously (0.2 mg/kg) and Tween 80 (10% v/v) orally. No significant changes in digoxin IV AUC was noted when Tween 80 was administered orally. In conclusion, Tween 80 significantly increased digoxin AUC and Cmax after oral administration, and the increased AUC is likely to be due to an inhibition of P-gp in the gut (i.e., improved absorption). Therefore, Tween 80 is likely to improve systemic exposure of P-gp substrates after oral administration. Comparing AUC after oral administration with and without Tween 80 may be a viable strategy in evaluating whether oral absorption of P-gp substrates is potentially limited by P-gp in the gut.

특급 호텔 조리직 종사원의 직무 태도와 조직 몰입이 직무 만족에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Job Attitude and Organization Absorption of theCooks in Special Grade Hotels on Their Job satisfaction)

  • This study was conducted to investigate how job attitude and organization absorption of hotel employees influence their job satisfaction and present a plan for development to the high level based on the result. It carried out the survey with 289 cooks of special grade hotels in Seoul area. According to the result, organization absorption raised by .677 when emphasizing job roles and it raised .141 when stressing the organization behavior. Furthermore, it revealed that job roles and the factor of organization behavior influenced(p<05) job satisfaction, while job roles affected job achievement(p<05). What is more, it appeared that the factors of organization absorption significantly affected satisfaction and achievement each in statistics. Considering such results, it can be presented that job attitude of cooks in special grade hotels who have optimistic mind meaningfully influenced organization absorption and job satisfaction. It showed that even though the job imposed on the cooks of special grade hotels are relatively high, organization absorption goes up as job attitude is positive, which means high productivity connecting with job satisfaction in the end.
