A quasi-static finite element approach for seismic analysis of tunnels considering tunnel excavation and P-waves

  • The quasi-static finite element (FE) approaches are widely used for the seismic analysis of tunnels. However, the conventional quasi-static approaches may cause significant deviations when the tunnel excavation process is simulated prior to the quasi-static analysis. In addition, they cannot account for vertical excitations. Therefore, this paper first highlights the limitations of conventional approaches. A hybrid quasi-static FE approach is subsequently proposed and extensively validated for various conditions. The hybrid approach is simple and not time consuming, and it can be used for the preliminary seismic design of tunnels, especially when the tunnel excavation and vertically propagating P-waves are considered.

싱잉볼 힐링이 자율신경계 반응과 뇌파에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Singing Bowl Healing on the Autonomic Nervous System and Brainwaves)

  • 이 연구는 지속적인 싱잉볼 힐링이 뇌파와 자율신경계 반응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 5주 동안 8명의 피실험자에게 싱잉볼 힐링을 받은 전,후 뇌파의 변화를 알아보기 위하여, 45분 동안의 싱잉볼 힐링 받기 전, 후 뇌파의 변화를 측정하였다. 뇌파측정은 바이오브레인 BIOS-S8로의 F3, F4, T3, T4, P3, P4 총 6체널에 부착하였고, 심전도 측정을 위하여 표준사지 유도방식에 Lead I에 전극을 부착하여 측정하였다. 수집된 뇌파자료를 통하여 5주간의 싱잉볼 힐링 전,후 뇌파의 변화를 지켜보았으며, 베타파, 알파파, SMR는 낮아지고, 세타와 델타파, HRV 항목 중 SDNN이 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과 5주 동안의 지속적인 싱잉볼 힐링은 뇌파를 안정시키고, 자율신경계를 활성화 시키며, 부교감신경을 증가시키는 이완유도 효과를 지속, 증대 시킬 수 있다는 점을 확인하였다.

불규칙파(不規則波)의 특성(特性)에 관한(關) 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Characteristic of Sea Wave)

  • The remarkable economic growth achived during 1960-1980 in Korea inevitablely demanded the expansion and maintenance of the harbors and their auxiliary seashore facilities. One of the most important elements in the basic besign for the expasion of a harbor and its auxiliary facilities is, of course, the proper determination of the design wave which reflects the major characteristics of the seashore under consideration. In this study, the parameters of significant waves for the industrial harbors on East Coast, Muck-Ho and Po-Hang, are first computed by means of computer programming using S.M.B and P.N.J methods, respectively. Then the design waves with the return periods of 5-200 years were estimated by frequency analysis of the significant waves. A comparison of the design waves with the observed wave data during the past 10 years made it possible to determine the optimum value of design wave at the two harbors. The important results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1) It seems appropriate to take the design wave hieghts with the return period of 50 years at Muck-Ho and Po-Hang as 6.9 and 5.8 meters respectively. 2) It was found that for the determination of design waves on East Coast of Korean Peninsula P.N.J method works better than S.M.B method in predicting the significant wave, and the Log-Normal distribution fits best to the wave data which were put to frequency analysis.

  • 본 논문에서는 파중에서 조종운동을 하는 선박에 작용하는 유체력에 대한 수학적 모델을 확립하고, 이에 대한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 파중에서 운항하는 선박은 입사파의 주파수에 의존하는 고주파수 운동과 선박의 조종운동에 따른 저주파수 운동을 하게되므로, two time scale expansion 방법을 적용하여 속도포텐셜에 대한 선형경계치 문제를 정립하였으며, 선박의 조종운동에 미치는 파의 영향은 2차차수 저주파수 표류력만을 조종운동방정식에 포함시켜 고려하였다. 속도포텐셜에 대한 적분방정식의 해는 3차원 파넬방법을 사용하여 구하였으며, 선박에 작용하는 힘은 직접적분법을 사용하여 계산하였다.

Propagation of plane waves in an orthotropic magneto-thermodiffusive rotating half-space

  • The present article is aimed at studying the reflection phenomena of plane waves in a homogeneous, orthotropic, initially stressed magneto-thermoelastic rotating medium with diffusion. The enuciation is applied to generalized thermoelasticity based on Lord-Shulman theory. There exist four coupled waves, namely, quasi-longitudinal P-wave (qP), quasi-longitudinal thermal wave (qT), quasi-longitudinal mass diffusive wave (qMD) and quasi-transverse wave (qSV) in the medium. The amplitude and energy ratios for these reflected waves are derived and the numerical computations have been carried out with the help of MATLAB programming. The effects of rotation, initial stress, magnetic and diffusion parameters on the amplitude ratios are depicted graphically. The expressions of energy ratios have also been obtained in explicit form and are shown graphically as functions of angle of incidence. It has been verified that during reflection phenomena, the sum of energy ratios is equal to unity at each angle of incidence. Effect of anisotropy is also depicted on velocities of various reflected waves.

  • This paper describes an algorithm of P-wave detection by significant point extraction method with digital differentiation. P-waves are detected by pattern matching algorithm with significant points. By means of defecting onset and offset points of P-waves, this algorithm can measure the PR intervals exactly which is important to diagnosis the atrial arrhythmia. Because P-wave duration is changed according to heart-rates, we calculate the R-R interval prior to the determination of P-wave duration threshold values in order to actively adapt to the change of P duration The results obtained from the proposed algorithm have defected successfully P-wave almost more than 90%.

  • This paper performed P wave detection algorithm for diagnosis in according to method of cardiologist's P wave detection. We used correlation pattern matching for prominent P waves and P-P interval estimation for ambiguous P waves. Results of this study indicate that this algorithm has potential for improving P wave detection performance.

적출한 고양이 위(胃) 평활근 절편의 전기적 및 기계적 활동에 미치는 Bombesin의 영향과 그 작용기전 (Effects of Bombesin on Electrical and Mechanical Activities of Gastric Smooth Muscle Strips of Cats)

  • bombesin의 생물학적 활성중 하나는 위장관의 평활근을 수축시키는 작용이다. 그러므로, 본 실험에서는 bombesin이 위장관의 운동성과 관계가 깊은 평활근의 전기적 활동에 미치는 영향과 신경기전을 밝히고자 하였다. 고양이 60마리로부터 urethane마취하에 위를 적출한 다음 대만 쪽에서 체부와 유문부가 포함된 평활근 절편을 얻었으며 또한 체부에서 윤상근 절편을 얻었다. 평활근 절편을 Krebs-Ringer 용액으로 채워진 기록용기에 넣고 Ag-AgCl전극을 사용하여 체부와 유문부에서 서파를 기록하는 한편 윤상근 절편의 자발적 수축을 기록하였다. 기록용기 속의 용액에는 5% $Co_{2}$를 내포한 $O_{2}$를 계속 공급하였으며, 용액의 온도는 $36^{\circ}C$가 유지되도록 하였다. 기록용기 속에서 1시간 동안 안정시킨 다음 서파빈도와 수축빈도가 일정하여지면 bombesin과 그 유도체, substance P와 그 유도체 그리고 몇가지 종류의 신경차단제를 각각 투여하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) bombesin은 $10^{-9}\;M$에서부터 $3\;{\times}\;10^{-8}\;M$ 사이의 농도에서 서파빈도와 수축빈도를 농도-의존적으로 증가시켰다. 2) bombesin 유도체인 $D-leu^{13}-{\psi}\;(CH_{2}NH)-D-leu^{14}-bombesin$은 서파빈도를 증가시키는 bombesin의 작용을 억제하였다. 3) 서파빈도를 증가시키는 bombesin의 작용에 대하여 tetrodotoxin과 hexamethonium은 억제적으로 작용하였으나 atropine, phentolamine 그리고 propranolol은 이렇다할 영향을 비치지 않았다. 4) 서파빈도를 증가시키는 bombesin의 작용에 대하여 substance P 유도체인 $D-pro^{2}-D-trp^{7,9}-substance\;P$는 억제적으로 작용하였다. 5) sunstance P 자체는 서파빈도에는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 보아 (1) bombesin은 적출한 고양이 위 평활근의 서파빈도와 체부 윤상근의 수축빈도를 증가시키며, (2) bombesin은 신경-근 연접에서 acetylcholine이나 noradrenalin을 신경전달물질로 사용하지 않는 내원성 신경을 거쳐 서파빈도를 증가시키는 것으로 생각된다. (3) 그러나, bombesin이 서파의 발생빈도를 증가시키는 과정에 substance P를 신경전달물질로 사용하는 신경이 개재하는 것 같지는 않았다.

인지체조-뉴로피드백을 활용한 통합 간호의 효과 (The Effect of Integrated Nursing using Cognicise and Neurofeedback)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effect of integrated nursing using cognicise and neurofeedback on cognition and α waves among elderly individuals. Methods: This quasi-experimental single group pretest-posttest study included 29 Korean adults aged 65 years or older who participated at a senior welfare center in Y city from February to May 2019. Each integrated nursing session consisted of cognicise (10 minutes) and neurofeedback (20 minutes). Subjects participated twice a week for 10 weeks. Structured questionnaires to assess participants' general characteristics and the Korean version of the Mini-Mental Status Examination for Dementia Screening (K-MMSE-DS) were applied. Alpha waves were measured using BrainMaster. Results: Following the integrated nursing program, alpha waves improved in F3 (t=2.41, p=.023), C3 (t=3.00, p=.006), C4 (t=2.60, p=.015), P3 (t=2.43, p=.022), O1 (t=2.30, p=.029), T3 (t=3.05, p=.005), T4 (t=2.28, p=.030), T5 (t=2.91, p=.007), Fz (t=2.30, p=.029), Cz (t=2.73, p=.011), and Pz (t=2.23, p=.034). Most subjects experienced improvement in concentration after participating in the intervention. Conclusion: This study provides evidence for the use of a neuroscientific approach including brain wave measurement to improve cognitive health among community-living elderly people.

콘크리트 넓은 보의 상태평가를 위한 초음파 속도의 통계학적 분포에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Statistical Distribution of Ultrasonic Velocities for the Condition Evaluation of Concrete Wide Beam)

  • The ultrasonic pulse velocities of pressure, shear, and Rayleigh waves ( P-, S-, and R- waves) have been used for the condition evaluation of various concrete structures, but the statistical distribution according to the wave type has not been studied clearly in view of data reliability and validity. Therefore, this study analyzed the statistical distribution of P-, S-, R-wave velocities in concrete wide beams of $800{\times}3100mm$ (width ${\times}$ length) with a thickness of 300 mm. In addition, we investigated an experimental consistency by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit test. The experimental data showed that the R-, S- and P- wave velocities in order have better statistical stability and reliability for in situ evaluation because R- and S-waves are less sensitive to confinement and boundary conditions. Also, good correlations between wave velocities and strength and modulus of elasticity were found, which indicate them as appropriate techniques for estimating the mechanical properties.
