  • Kato[6] and Torres[9] characterized the Weierstrass semigroup of ramification points on h-hyperelliptic curves. Also they showed the converse results that if the Weierstrass semigroup of a point P on a curve C satisfies certain numerical condition then C can be a double cover of some curve and P is a ramification point of that double covering map. In this paper we expand their results on the Weierstrass semigroup of a ramification point of a double covering map to the Weierstrass semigroup of a pair (P, Q). We characterized the Weierstrass semigroup of a pair (P, Q) which lie on the same fiber of a double covering map to a curve with relatively small genus. Also we proved the converse: if the Weierstrass semigroup of a pair (P, Q) satisfies certain numerical condition then C can be a double cover of some curve and P, Q map to the same point under that double covering map.

  • In order to analyze the effect of the cyclic lateral loading on the response of a pile-soil system, a full-scale single steel pile was subjected to one-way cyclic loading. The test pile was driven into a bi-layered soil consisting of a normally consolidated saturated clay overlying a silty sandy layer, the site being submerged by water up to one meter above the mudline in order to reproduce the conditions of an offshore pile foundation. The aim of this paper is to present the main results of interpretation of the cyclic lateral tests in terms of pile deflections, bending moment, and cyclic P-Y curves. From these latter an absolute secant reaction modulus EAS,N was derived and a simple calculation model of the test single pile is proposed based on this modulus. Two applications of the proposed model are carried out, one with a 2D finite element modelling, and the second with a load transfer curves-based method.

  • This paper presents experimental results of a series of 1-g shaking table model tests performed on end-bearing single piles and pile groups to investigate the effect of particle size on the dynamic behavior of soil-pile systems. Two soil-pile models consisting of a single-pile and a $4{\times}2$-pile group were tested twice; first using Jumoonjin sand, and second using Australian Fine sand, which has a smaller particle size. In the case of single-pile models, the lateral displacement was almost within 1% of pile diameter which corresponds to the elastic range of the pile. The back-calculated p-y curves show that the subgrade reaction of the Jumoonjin-sand-model ground was larger than that of the Australian Fine-sand-model ground at the same displacement. This phenomenon means that the stress-strain behavior of Jumoonjin sand was initially stiffer than that of Australian Fine sand. This difference was also confirmed by resonant column tests and compression triaxial tests. And the single pile p-y backbone curves of the Australian fine sand were constructed and compared with those of the Jumoonjin sand. As a result, the stiffness of the p-y backbone curves of Jumunjin sand was larger than those of Australian fine sand. Therefore, using the same p-y curves regardless of particle size can lead to inaccurate results when evaluating dynamic behavior of soil-pile system. In the case of the group-pile models, the lateral displacement was much larger than the elastic range of pile movement at the same test conditions in the single-pile models. The back-calculated p-y curves in the case of group pile models were very similar in both sands because the stiffness difference between the Jumoonjin-sand-model ground and the Australian Fine-sand-model ground was not significantly large at a large strain level, where both sands showed non-linear behavior. According to a series of single pile and group pile test results, the evaluation group pile effect using the p-multiplier can lead to inaccurate results on dynamic behavior of soil-pile system.

  • In this work, we studied the degree of hydrolysis of ion exchanger in $NH_4OH$ solution and sorption characteristics of $NH_3$ by potentiometric titration curves with using carboxylic acid ion exchanger Fiban K-4. We knew that the theoretical pH values agreed with the experimental pH values on the $NH_4OH$ concentrations in various concentrations of supporting electrolyte $(NH_4)_2SO_4$. The sorption values of $NH_3$ using the ion exchanger can be calculated from equivalent sorption curves for various pH. Also, the degree of hydrolysis increased with decreasing concentration of supporting electrolyte and pH. In order to obtain the mono ion form below 0.01 M as the decreasing concentration of supporting electrolyte, the pH values should be increased. From these results, therefore, the concentrations of supporting electrolyte and pH values were determined.

  • A total of 618 photoelectric observations (302 in yellow and 316 in bule) is made in 1982 at the Yonsei University Observatory. Except that of the secondary eclipse the homogeneous coverage of observations successfully secured B, V, and B-V light curves. Enhanced distortions in the light curves are appeared at the phases aroung $0.^P1$, which supports the wave-like migration period of 9.7 years(Rodono 1981). One epoch time of the primary minimum was made by combining the observations in three nights. This minimum time shows that the O-C values are still decreasing and there seems to indication of increasing. B and V light curves of the primary minimum are in strong asymmetry which show less luminous in the third and fourth contacts compared to those of the first and second ones. This asymmetry may be as a result of the reflection of the wave minimum at $0.^P1$, and B-V curve also shows asymmetry, redder at the third contact than the second one by about $0.^m04$. This color difference apperature distribution on the surface of cooler, larger component(KO IV star).

  • This paper reports the studies of the inversion layer mobility in p-channel Si MOSFET's under hot-carrier degradated condition. The validity of relationship of hot carrier degradations between the surface effective mobility and field effect mobility and are examined. The effective mobility(${\mu}$$\_$eff/) is derived from the channel conductances, while the field-effect mobility(${\mu}$$\_$FE/) is obtained from the transconductance. The characteristics of mobility curves can be divided into the 3 parts of curves. It was reported that the mobility degradation is due to phonon scattering, coulombic scattering and surface roughness. We are measured the mobility slope in curves with DC-stress [V$\_$g/=-3.1v]. It was found that the mobility(${\mu}$$\_$eff/ and ${\mu}$$\_$FE/) of p-MOSFET's was increased by increasing stress time and decreasing channel length. Because of the increasing stress time and increasing V$\_$g/ is changed oxide reliability and increased vertical field.

  • This study involves a series of experiments on the buckling strength of eccentrically compressed cold-formed stainless steel square hollow-section columns. The principal parameters in this study are slenderness ratios ($L_k/r$ = 30, 50, 70) and magnitude of eccentricity e (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 mm) on the symmetrical end-moment. The objectives of this paper are to obtain the buckling loads by conducting a series of experiments and to compare the behavior of the eccentrically compressed cold-formed stainless steel square hollow-section columns with the results of the analysis. The ultimate buckling strength of the square-section members were determined with the use of a numerical method in accordance with the bending moment-axial force (M-P) interaction curves. The behavior of each specimen was displayed in the form of a moment-radian (M-${\theta}$) relationship. The numerically obtained ultimate-buckling interaction curves of the beam columns coincided with the results of the experiments.

  • This paper presents results from a series of model tests on laterally loaded single piles with both free-head and free-tip conditions. Model tests, using a centrifuge apparatus (middie size, Mark II in 7.1.7.) were carried out in sand based on the variation of different gravity acceleration and flexural stiffness of the pile and relative density of the soil. The aims of this study are to estimate the effect of gravity acceleratioil, flexordis stiffness, and relative density on the behavior of the pile embedded in Toyoura sand and to evaluate the applicability of a family of the p-y curves which was presented by several reseachers(Mur chison & O'Neill, neese et n., scott, Det worske veritas, nondner). The Program is deviloped by using p-y curves, and it can be used for the calculation of the displacement distri bution, bending moment distribution, and soil reaction distribution. By comparing meas ured responses with predicted one it is shown that the results of the p-y curve equation presented by Murchison & O'Neill and Kondner agreed with the general trend observed by the centrifuge tests much better than the numerical solutions predicted by the other sets of p -y curves.

  • A new model which requires one branch of main curves for the model calibration is developed based on the assumption that the weighting factor accounting for the pore blockage effect against air entry, $P_a({\theta})$, in Mualem's Model III-1 has a linear relation to the dimensionless pore radius r. The proposed model simulates experimental data more accurately than existing models which require one branch of main curves for the model calibration. Previous study showed that Model III-1 is the most appropriate model among domain models which require two branches of main curves for the model calibration. In comparison of the proposed model with Model III-1, both simulate hysteresis curves with almost the same accuracy. The proposed model can be applied efficiently in analyzing the unsaturated flow.
