Sub-cooling of cryogenic propellant by helium injection is one of the most effective
methods for suppressing bulk boiling and keeping sub-cooled liquid oxygen before
rocket launch. In order to design the cooling system, understanding of the limitations
of heat and mass transfer is required. In this paper, an analytical model for the helium
injection system is presented. This model's main feature is the representation of
bubbling system using finite-rate heat transfer and instantaneous mass transfer concept.
With this simplified approach, the effect of helium injection to liquid oxygen system
under several circumstances is examined. Experimental results along with simulations of
single bubble rising in liquid oxygen and bubbling system are presented with various
helium injection flow rates, and with change of oxygen chamber pressure.

Effects of pressure, temperature, gas velocity, and fuel flow rate on reduction of three oxygen carriers, SDN70, OC-1, OC-2, were measured and investigated in a pressurized bubbling fluidized bed reactor. Among three oxygen carriers OC-2 was selected as the best oxygen carrier in view of fuel conversion and $CO_2$ selectivity. However, all oxygen carriers showed good reactivity even at high pressure conditions. SDN70 particle showed maximum reactivity at $900^{\circ}C$ and low reactivity at $950^{\circ}C$. However, reactivity decay of OC-1 and OC-2 particles at high temperature condition was negligible. The fuel conversion and the $CO_2$ selectivity slightly decreased as the gas velocity increased, whereas they are slightly increased as the fuel concentration increased.
The experimental study was carried out for the diffusion flame characteristics of second stage combustor with the variations of temperature and supplying rate of hot exhaust gas from first stage combustor. It also examined the flame structure and NOx formation of the second stage combustor in which the fuel(natural gas) is supplying into the mixture of oxygen hot exhaust gas from first stage combustor. The results show that the increasement of temperature and flow rate of exhaust gas lead to increase the NOx up to 30ppm with 19% $O_2$ condition

A study on the modeling of the methane Chemical Looping Reforming system was carried out. It is aimed to predict the temperature and concentration behavior of the product through modeling of oxygen carrier fixed bed reactors composed of multiple stacks. In order to design the reaction system, first of all, the flow rate of the hydrogen to be produced was calculated. The flow rate ratio of the oxidation/reduction reactor was calculated considering the heat of reaction between adjacent reactors. Finally, in this paper, kinetic model including empirical coefficients was suggested.

This study evaluated the effects of PKC activation using phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and PKC inhibition using the isoquinoline sulfomide derivative H-7 on hemodynamics and glucoregulation in the isolated perfused rat liver. Livers were isolated from fed male Holtzman rats and perfused with Krebs Ringer bicarbonate solution under a constant flow of 50 ml/min at $35^{\circ}C.$ Portal vein pressure, glucose and lactate concentrations in the medium and oxygen consumption rates were continuously monitored by a Grass polygraph, YSI glucose and lactate monitors, and a YSI oxygen monitor, respectively. PMA at concentration of 2 to 200 nM increased the portal vein pressure, glucose and lactate production, but decreased oxygen consumption rate in a dose-dependent fashion. H-7 $(200\;{\mu}M)$ attenuated PMA (50 nM)-induced vasoconstriction $(15.1{\pm}1.36\;vs\;10.56{\pm}1.17\;mmHg),$ glucose production rate $(91.3{\pm}6.15\;vs\;71.8{\pm}2.50\;{\mu}moles/g/hr),$ lactate production rate $(72.4{\pm}6.82\;vs\;53.6{\pm}4.82\;{\mu}moles/g/hr)$ and oxygen consumption rate $(33.7{\pm}1.41\;vs\;27.9{\pm}1.75\;{\mu}l/g/min).$ The effects of PMA were blocked either by addition of verapamil $(9\;{\mu}M)$ or perfusion with $Ca^{2+}-free$ KRB. These results suggest that the hemodynamic and glucoregulatory changes in the perfused rat liver are mediated by protein kinase C activation and require $Ca^{2+}$ influx from the extracellular fluid.
A MILD(Moderate and Intense Low oxygen Dilution) combustion, which is effective in the reduction of NOx, is considerably affected by the recirculation flow rate of hot exhaust gas to the combustion furnace. The present study used a coanda nozzle for the exhaust gas recirculation in a MILD combustor. A numerical analysis was accomplished to elucidate the effect of exhaust gas entrainment toward the furnace with or without a coaxial contractor. The result of the present CFD analysis showed that the entrainment mass flow rate without a coaxial contractor had 18% larger than that with a coaxial contractor when the mixed gas outlet pressure was ambient pressure. On the other hand, if the outlet pressure increased, the mass flow rate with a contractor was larger than that without a contractor. It could be analysed by the entrainment driving force composed with the nozzle throat pressure, inlet and outlet pressures and flow cross sectional area.
Methane reforming processes to obtain hydrogen were investigated experimentally by using atmospheric plasma source. Among possible reforming processes, such as a $CO_2$ reforming(dry reforming), a partial oxidation (POx), a steam reforming(SR), and a steam reforming with oxygen(SRO or auto-thermal reforming), partial oxidation and the steam reforming with oxygen were considered. We choose a rotating arc plasma as an atmospheric plasma source, since it shows the best performances in our preliminary tests in terms of a methane conversion, a hydrogen production, and a power consumption. Then, the effects of a feeding flow-rate, an electrical power input to a plasma reaction, an $O_2/C$ ratio and a steam to carbon ratio in the case of SRO on the reforming characteristics were observed systematically. As results, at a certain condition almost 100% of methane conversion was obtained and we could achieve the same hydrogen production rate by consuming a half of electrical power which was used by the best results for other researchers.

This paper presents the hydraulic analysis of the air entrainment by the weir types. For the weir types, the stepped weir, the labyrinth weir and the gate underflow weir were selected, and the oxygen transfer efficiency was estimated by the site investigation and the hydraulic model tests. The most effective type for the oxygen transfer was stepped weir The more steps the stepped weir had, the higher efficiency it revealed. Oxygen transfer was proportional to the flow velocity, the Froude number, and the flow discharge in order. Hydraulic model tests showed that a nappe flow occurred at small flow rates. The concurrent condition of a nappe flow and a skimming flow occurred as flow rate increases, nappe flow at the upper part and skimming flow at the lower part. In the region of nappe flow, air inception occurred from the step edges due to flow separation, and air entrainment was made through a free-falling nappe, an air pocket, a nappe impact and a subsequent hydraulic jump. In the region of skimming flow, air entrainment occurred by the variation of water surface over the steps, but it was relatively small compared with nappe flow.
Extracorporeal circulation by hemodilution technique has been currently used with its clinical safety and good peripheral tissue perfusion in open heart surgery. There is no doubt that $O_{2}$ carrying capacity of the blood is disturbed by decreased hemoglobin level resulting from hemodilution of the circulating blood. From the view point of the blood gas exchange, these experimental studies were undertaken to determined the sate limit of hemodilution in the condition of cardiopulmonary bypass with a constant perfusion flow rate. Twelve adult mongrel dogs weighing 10 to 13 Kg. were anesthetized with pentobarbital and then respiration was controlled with Harvard volume respirator using room air. The cardiopulmonary by pass was performed by use of Sarns heart lung machine (console 5000, 5 head and 2 roller pumps) and Travenol pediatric bubble oxygenator. The perfusion rate during bypass was maintained at a constant rate of 80 ml/min/Kg of body weight. The ratio of oxygen gas flow to blood flow was kept in 3 to 1 constantly. International hemodilution was attained by serial blood withdrawals and immediate infusion of equal volumes of diluants composed of Ringer's lactate, 5% dextrose in water and 25% mannitol solution, proportionally 60%, 30%, and 10%. Arterial and venous blood samples were obtained between 15 and 20 minutes following each hemodilution. Hematocrits and hemoglobin values, $PO_{2}$, $PCO_{2}$ and pH were measured. Oxygen and carbon dioxide contents oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide elimination were calculated groups according to different hematocrit values and the correlations were evaluated. Result were as follows. 1. the arterial $O_{2}$ tension and $O_{2}$ saturation were maintained at the physiological level irrespective of the hematocrit value. 2. The venous $O_{2}$ tension and $O_{2}$ saturation showed a tendency to decline with the decrease in hematocrit value and positive correlation between them (r = +0.49, r = +0.76), The mean values of venous $O_{2}$ tension and $O_{2}$ saturation, however, were not decreased when the hematocrit levels were lower than 20%. 3. The arterial $O_{2}$ content declined lineally in proportion to the fall of hematocrit level with a positive correlation between them (r = +0.95). 4. The venous $O_{2}$ contents were decreased gradually as the hematocrit value decreased with positive correlation between them ( r =+0.89). The trend of diminution of venous $O_{2}$ content, however, was became low according to progressive decrease of hematocrit level. 5. Systemic oxygen consumption was in higher range than $O_{2}$ requirement of basal metabolism when the hematocrit value was above 20%, but abruptly decreased when the hematocrit value became to below 20%. 6. The arterial $CO_{2}$ tension and $CO_{2}$ content showed trend of increasing with progressive decrease of hematocrit value but exhibited a rather broad range and there was no relationship between those value and the hematocrit value. 7. The venous $CO_{2}$ tension and $CO_{2}$ content have also no correlation with change of Ht. value but related directly to those value of arterial blood with positive correlation between them (r = +0.78, r = +0.95_. 8. A-V difference of $CO_{2}$ content and $CO_{2}$ elimination wasnot significantly influenced by Ht. value. From the results, we obtained that feasible limit in inteneional hemodilution is above the hematocrit value of 20% under the given experimental condition.

Tin dioxide, $SnO_2$, is applied as an anode material in Li-ion batteries and a gas sensing materials, which shows changes in resistance in the presence of gas molecules, such as $H_2$, NO, $NO_2$ etc. Considerable research has been done on the synthesis of $SnO_2$ nanostructures. Nanomaterials exhibit a high surface to volume ratio, which means it has an advantage in sensing gas molecules and improving the specific capacity of Li-ion batteries. In this study, $SnO_2$ nanostructures were grown on a Si substrate using a thermal CVD process with the vapor transport method. The carrier gas was mixed with high purity Ar gas and oxygen gas. The crystalline phase of the as-grown tin oxide nanostructures was affected by the oxygen gas flow rate. The crystallographic property of the as-grown tin oxide nanostructures were investigated by Raman spectroscopy and XRD. The morphology of the as-grown tin oxide nanostructures was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. As a result, the $SnO_2$ nanostructures were grown directly on Si wafers with moderate thickness and a nanodot surface morphology for a carrier gas mixture ratio of Ar gas 1000 SCCM : $O_2$ gas 10 SCCM.
