가변길이 다중비트 코딩을 이용한 DCT/IDCT의 설계 (Variable Radix-Two Multibit Coding and Its VLSI Implementation of DCT/IDCT)

  • 본 논문은 가변길이 다중비트 코딩 알고리듬을 제안하고 DCT/IDCT(이산여현변환/역이산여현변환)설계에의 적용 과정을 제시한다 가변길이 다중 비트 코딩은 일반적인 Booth's알고리듬과 같이 중첩에 의한 다중비트 코딩을 가변적인 방법을 사용하여 그 중 2의 멱승이 되는 부분 즉 2k의 SD(Signed Digit)을 생성하는 방법이다. 이렇게 발생된 SD는 곱셈에 있어서 2k의 부분적(Partial Product)을 생성하게 되고 이로 인해 필요한 하드웨어는 단순한 덧셈기와 쉬프트 연산에 필요한 플립플롭만 필요하게 되므로 설계과정에 있어서 칩의 면적과 속도 면에서 효율적인 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 이 알고리듬의 정의 및 증명과정과 실제 알고리듬 적용을 위한 DCT/IDCT의 설계방법을 논의하고 제작한 IDCT의 결과에 대해 논의한다. 설계된 IDCT칩은 병렬 고속 처리를 위한 8개의 PE(Processing Element)와 하나의 전치 메모리를 사용한 방법으로 54MHz에서 400Mpixels/sec의 동작속도를 가지며 HDTV 및 MPEG 디코더에 적용하여 동작을 검증하였다.

Optical Sensitivity of TL Glow Peaks Separated Using Computerized Glow Curve Deconvolution for RTL Quartz

  • Background: The retrospective dosimetry using RTL quartz can be improved by information for an optical sensitivity of sample connected with the equivalent dose determination. Materials and Methods: The quartz sample from a volcanic rock of Japan was used. After correcting the thermal quenching effect, RTL peaks of quartz were separated by the CGCD method cooperated with the general order kinetics. The number of overlapped glow peaks were ascertained by the $T_m-T_{stop}$ method. The optical sensitivity was examined by comparing the change of intensity on RTL glow peaks measured after exposure to light from a solar simulator with various illumination times. Results and Discussion: Seven glow peaks appeared to be overlapped on the RTL glow curve. The general order kinetics model was appropriate to separate glow peaks. After exposure to light from a solar simulator from a few minutes to 416 hr, the signals for peaks P4 and P5 decayed following the form of $f(t)=a_1e^{-{\lambda}1t}$, while the signals for peaks P6 and P7 decayed by the form of $f(t) = a_1e^{-{\lambda}1t}+a_2e^{-{\lambda}2t}+a_3e^{-{\lambda}3t}$. Conclusion: For dosimetric peaks, the times taken to reduce the RTL signal to half of its initial value were 70 sec for the peak P4, 54 s for the peak P5, 9,840 sec for the peak P6 and 26,580 sec for the peak P7, respectively. We conclude that the optical sensitivity of peaks P4, and P5 gives much higher than that of peaks P6 and P7.

Identification of the Marker Genes Related With Chronic Mitral Valve Disease in Dogs

  • We aimed to identify genomic variations as well as the marker genes related with chronic mitral valve disease (CMVD) in Canis lupus familiaris using whole genome resequencing, which provides valuable resources for further study. Two ten-year old female Canis lupus familiaris English cocker spaniels were used for this study, one control and one who had been diagnosed as CMVD. For the whole genome resequencing, muscles from the left ventricular wall were collected from each dog. With the HiSeq DNA Shotgun library and $HiSeq^{TM}$ 2000 platform, whole genome resequencing was performed. From the results, we identified 5 million and 6 million variants in gene expression in the control and CMVD-diagnosed subject, respectively. We then selected the top 1,000 genes from the SNP, INS, and DEL mutation and 675 genes among them were overlapped for every mutation between the control and CMVD-diagnosed patient. Interestingly, in both groups, the intron variant (91.16 and 91.18%) and upstream variant (3.10 and 3.08%) are most highly related. Among the overlapped 675 genes, gene ontology for intracellular signal transduction is highly counted in INS, and DEL, and SNPs (35, 33, 31, respectively). In this study, we found that the COL and CDH gene families could be key molecules in identifying the difference in gene expression between control and CMVD-diagnosed dogs. We believe further studies will prove the importance of variants in key molecule expression and that these data will serve as a valuable foundation stone the study of canine CMVD.

  • This paper, we present the evaluation of outage probability on the SNR under the overlapped carrier allocation scheme in the reverse link with imperfect power control of a cellular CDMA system, which is base on using Gaussian approximation. In numerical results, the band limited pulse generated by square-root of raised consin pulse shaping filters (SRRC) of the transmitted signal is investigated and compared in conventional FD/CDMA and OC-CDMA of the outage probability. It will be also show that the outage probability can be improved by overlapping of carriers. We use error statistics to model the intra-cell interference and evaluate the impact of different mobiles velocity and number of resolvable paths on the system performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 물리적으로 제한된 길이를 갖는 어레이를 확장시키는 어레이 합성기법을 제안한다. 기존의 확장 견인 어레이 측정기법(Extended Towed Array Measurements)에서는, 어레이의 이동에 따라 중첩되는 하이드로폰 사이의 공간적 배치상태가 적절한 위치에서 일치해야 하는 제한을 갖는다. 그러나 어레이를 합성하여 확장하는데 요구되는 위상보정성분은, 협대역 신호의 경우 위치제약에 관계없이 추정할 수 있다. 결과적으로 어레이 합성에 필요한 공간 표본 수를 증가시킬 수 있으며, 이를 통해 일반적으로 SNR이 낮은 수중 환경에서 고해상도의 방향추정 성능을 가지는 어레이 합성기법을 얻게 된다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 이를 검증한 결과 SNR에 따른 방향추정오차가 감소하였다.

MPE-LPC음성합성에서 Maximum- Likelihood Estimation에 의한 Multi-Pulse의 크기와 위치 추정 (Multi-Pulse Amplitude and Location Estimation by Maximum-Likelihood Estimation in MPE-LPC Speech Synthesis)

  • In this paper, we propose a maximum-likelihood estimation(MLE) method to obtain the location and the amplitude of the pulses in MPE( multi-pulse excitation)-LPC speech synthesis using multi-pulses as excitation source. This MLE method computes the value maximizing the likelihood function with respect to unknown parameters(amplitude and position of the pulses) for the observed data sequence. Thus in the case of overlapped pulses, the method is equivalent to Ozawa's crosscorrelation method, resulting in equal amount of computation and sound quality with the cross-correlation method. We show by computer simulation: the multi-pulses obtained by MLE method are(1) pseudo-periodic in pitch in the case of voicde sound, (2) the pulses are random for unvoiced sound, (3) the pulses change from random to periodic in the interval where the original speech signal changes from unvoiced to voiced. Short time power specta of original speech and syunthesized speech obtained by using multi-pulses as excitation source are quite similar to each other at the formants.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선광연결에서 편광판을 이용하여 잡음광을 소거하는 방법에 대하여 소개한다. 잡음광을 소거하기 위한 차동검출기에 편광판을 사용하면 잡음소거능력이 향상된다. 또한 유사한 파장을 가진 두 개의 광신호가 공간에 첩되어 혼싱이 발생하는 경우에는 각각의 수신부에 편광판을 서로 수직으로 부착하면 각각의 광신호를 쉽게 분리 검출할 수 있다. 이 방법은 매우 간단하여 사용하기가 쉽다.하기가 쉽다.

청각장애자를 위한 원격조음훈련시스템의 개발 (Remote Articulation Training System for the Deafs)

  • In this study, remote articulation training system which connects the hearing disabled trainee and the speech therapist via B-ISDN is introduced. The hearing disabled does not have the hearing feedback of his own pronuciation, and the chance of watching his speech organs movement trajectory will offer him the self-training of articulation. So the system has two purposes of self articulation training and trainer's on-line checking in remote place. We estimate the vocal tract articultory movements from the speech signal using inverse modelling and display the movement trajectoy on the sideview of human face graphically. The trajectories of trainees articulation is displayed along with the reference trajectories, so the trainee can control his articulating to make the two trajectories overlapped. For on-line communication and ckecking training record the system has the function of video conferencing and tranferring articulatory data.

포만트 정보의 동적 변화특성 조사에 관한 연구 (Investigation on Dynamic Behavior of Formant Information)

  • This study reports on the effective way of displaying dynamic formant information on F1-F2 space. Conventional ways of F1-F2 space (different name of vowel triangle or vowel rectangle) have been used for investigating vowel characteristics of a speaker or a language based on statistics of the F1 and F2 values, which were computed by spectral envelope search method. Those methods were dealing mainly with the static information of the formants, not the changes of the formant values (i.e. dynamic information). So a better way of investigating dynamic informations from the formant values of speech signal is suggested so that more convenient and detailed investigation of the dynamic changes can be achieved on F1-F2 space. Suggested method used visualization of static and dynamic information in overlapped way to be able to observe the change of the formant information easily. Finally some examples of the implemented display on some cases of the continuous vowels are shown to prove the usefulness of suggested method.

  • 본 논문은 EBME(Extended Bilateral Motion Estimation)알고리듬에서 가중치수를 개선시켜 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리듬은 EBME(Extended Bilateral Motion Estimation) MCI(Motion Compensated Interpolation)에서 고정된 확장블록을 대신하여 확장블록이 주변근처를 이동하면서 SOAD(Sum of Overlapped area Absolute Difference)를 통하여 향상된 가중치수를 찾는 알고리듬이다. 이 논문은 EBME알고리듬에 비해 PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio)이 향상된 성능을 보였다.
