실증시험선로를 이용한 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 이온류 특성 평가 (Ion Effects of HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole Overhead Transmission Line with Metallic Return Conductor Using Full-scale Test Line)

  • 국내에 향후 건설 예정인 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 최적선로 형상을 설계하고 송전선로에서 발생되는 전기환경장해를 검증하기 위해 실증시험장을 구축하여 1년간 전기환경장해 평가시험을 수행하였다. 또한, HVDC Double Bipole 실선로에서 인체의 지표면 전계인지도 평가시험을 통해 HVDC 실규모 실증선로 직하에서 인체가 직류 전계를 감지하는 임계값을 조사하여 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로의 직류전계 설계기준안의 타당성을 검증하였다. HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 시험선로의 극형상은 전기환경장해와 운영관점에서 동일한 극성을 대각으로 배치하였으며, 국내 가공송전선로의 전기환경장해의 사회적인 수용성을 고려하여 선로에서 코로나방전이 거의 발생되지 않도록 소도체 방식은 6 도체를 선정하였다. 도체귀로형 HVDC ±500 kV Double Bipole 가공송전선로 방식인 Cardinal×6B를 적용한 실증시험결과, 선로 도체에서 코로나 방전이 거의 발생되지 않았으며, 따라서 지표면 전계와 이온전류밀도는 모두 국내 가공송전선로 설계 기준값을 만족하였다. 또한 선로직하에서 피조사자들에 대한 전계 인지도 평가결과, 피조사자들의 70%는 23 kV/m에 노출되어도 직류전계를 인지하지 못하는 결과를 나타냈다.

Lifetime estimation of a covered overhead line conductor

  • The paper presents results of studies concerning wind-induced aeolian vibration and fatigue of a 110 kV covered conductor overhead line. Self-damping measurement techniques are discussed: power method is found to be the most reliable technique. A method for compensating tension variations during the self-damping test is presented. Generally used empirical self-damping power models are enhanced and the different models are compared with each other. The Energy Balance Analysis (EBR) is used to calculate the aeolian vibration amplitudes, which thereafter are converted to bending stress for the calculation of conductor lifetime estimate. The results of EBA are compared with field measurements, Results indicate that adequate lifetime estimates are produced by EBA as well as field measurements. Generally the EBA gives more conservative lifetime expectancy. This is believed to result from the additional damping existing in true suspension structures not taken into account by EBA. Finally, the correctness of the line design is verified using Cigre's safe design tension approach.

  • A low-power ECC check bit generator is presented with competent DRAM implementation with minimal speed loss, area overhead and power consumption. The ECC used in the proposed scheme is a variant form of the minimum weight column code. The spatial and temporal correlations of input data are analyzed and the input paths of the check bit generator are ordered for the on-line adaptable power savings up to 24.4% in the benchmarked cases. The chip size overhead is estimated to be under 0.3% for a 80nm 1Gb DRAM implementation.

New Experimental Investigation of Magnetic and Electric Fields in the Vicinity of High-Voltage Power Lines

  • In this paper, the theoretical and experimental characteristics of magnetic and electric fields in the vicinity of high voltage lines are investigated. To realize these measurements and calculations, we have developed some equations for two overhead power line configurations of 150 kV (single circuit, double circuit), based on Biot-savart law, image and Maxwell theories, in order to calculate the magnetic and electric fields. The measurements were done to a maximum distance from the tower of 50 m, at a height of 1m from the ground. These experiments take into consideration the real situations of the power lines and associated equipment. The experimental results obtained are near to that of the Biot-Savart theoretical results for a far distance from the tower; and for a distance close to the power line, the results from the image theory are in good agreement with the experimental results.

전력선통신을 위한 고압 배전선로의 임피던스 특성 (Impedance Characteristics of Overhead Medium-Voltage Power lines for Power Line Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 전력선 통신(PLC) 시스템에 사용되는 고압 배전선로의 임피던스 특성을 해석하였다. 해석을 위해 전력선 통신 네트워크의 2포트 등가모델을 구현하였다. 등가모델 및 기본적인 전송선로 이론을 적용하여 전력선 통신 입력 단에서의 임피던스를 계산하였다. 또한 고압 커플러, 동축케이블 등의 특성을 제거한 전력선 자체의 입력임피던스를 계산하였다. 계산결과의 검증을 위해 고압 실증시험장에서 측정을 하였다. 측정결과 전력선 자체의 입력 임피던스는 $200\~300\;{\Omega}$의 값을 가졌으며, 주파수가 증가할수록 전력선 특성임피던스의 절반에 수렴하였다. 또한 측정치와 계산치가 매우 유사하였다.

Maintenance Priority Index of Overhead Transmission Lines for Reliability Centered Approach

  • Overhead transmission lines are crucial components in power transmission systems. Well-designed maintenance strategy for overhead lines is required for power utilities to minimize operating costs, while improving the reliability of the power system. This paper presents a maintenance priority index (MPI) of overhead lines for a reliability centered approach. Proposed maintenance strategy is composed of a state index and importance indices, taking into account a transmission condition and importance in system reliability, respectively. The state index is used to determine the condition of overhead lines. On the other hand, the proposed importance indices indicate their criticality analysis in transmission system, by using a load effect index (LEI) and failure effect index (FEI). The proposed maintenance method using the MPI has been tested on an IEEE 9-bus system, and a numerical result demonstrates that our strategy is more cost effective than traditional maintenance strategies.

A Simulator for Calculating Normal Induced Voltage on Communication Line

  • The current flowing through the overhead transmission lines causes induced voltage on the communication lines, which can be prevented by calculating the induced voltage at the planning stage for overhead transmission line installment through an agreement between the communication and electric power companies. The procedures to calculate the induced voltages, however, are complicated due to the variety of parameters and tower types of the overhead transmission lines. The difficulty necessitates the development of a simulator to measure the induced voltage on the communication lines. This paper presents two simulators developed for this purpose; one using the Data Base (DB) index method and the other using the Graphic User Interface (GUI) method. The simulators described in this paper have been implemented by the EMTP (Electromagnetic Transient Program).

Analysis on Ampacity of Overhead Transmission Lines Being Operated

  • Dynamic thermal rating (DTR) system is an effective method to improve the capacity of existing overhead line. According to the methodology based on CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric systems) standard, ampacity values under steady-state heating balance can be calculated from ambient environmental conditions. In this study, simulation analysis of relations between parameters and ampacity is described as functional dependence, which can provide an effective basis for the design and research of overhead transmission lines. The simulation of ampacity variation in different rating scales is described in this paper, which are determined from real-time meteorological data and conductor state parameters. To test the performance of DTR in different rating scales, capacity improvement and risk level are presented. And the experimental results show that the capacity of transmission line by using DTR has significant improvement, with low probability of risk. The information of this study has an important reference value to the operation management of power grid.

전차선로 절연 행거 개발에 대한 안전성 검토 (The review of the safety for the development of insulated hanger in overhead contact line)

  • A subway in Seoul has had a major role of public transportation after the opening of Seoul Subway Line 1 on August 15, 1974 and it has reached 34.7% of the transportation of Seoul citizens. The extended length of the subway system suppled with DC power in Korea is about 500km. In this system, the devices which are proper for regenerative power system are being required because of changeover from old braking and ATS signal system to regenerative braking and ATO signal system. In this paper, we reviewed the safety standards for the insulated hangers in overhead contact line. These hangers which have depended on foreign imports are being developed in Korea considering ease of demand and supply and economic effects.

노후 가공송전선의 수명과 열용량의 평가 (Evaluation for Lifetime and Thermal Ratings for Aged Overhead Transmission Lines)

  • 적절한 송전용량으로 전력공급을 안정하게 유지하기 위하여 노후 가공송전선의 열용량이나 수명 평가가 더욱 중요한 관심사가 되었다. 부하정격과 이도/이격거리 모두는 송전용량을 결정하는 중요한 요소들이다. 국내의 2회선 송전선로에 대한 열용량 및 도체수명을 평가하기 위하여, 전기설비기술기준은 물론 이도 및 지상고에 대한 설계기준들이 검토된다. 상정사고를 가정하여 도체온도와 이도를 계산하고 부하용량을 증대시키기 위한 방안이 모색되었다. 본 논문에서는 노후 도체에 대한 열용량과 한계이도를 적절히 평가함으로써, 기존 전력계통의 신뢰성을 보장하기 위한 개선 방안이 제시되었다.
