The Token Bucket Scheme to solve Buffer Overflow of Video Streaming in Wireless Network (무선 네트워크에서 비디오 스트리밍의 버퍼 오버플로우를 해결하기 위한 토큰버킷 기법)

  • In wireless network, the amount of video streaming packet information in receiver replay buffer can be varied according tothe wireless network condition. By the effect, unforeseeable delay and jitter are generated and then busty video traffics can be made. If the amount of buffer information coming in receiver replay buffer is larger than the amount of a specific buffer information, buffer overflow is generated. Such a problem makes the image skip effect and packet loss, and then causes the quality degradation and replay discontinuity of the video streaming service in destination receiver. To solve the buffer overflow problem, this paper applies the token bucket for the busty traffic to the receiver terminal and analyzes the effect of the token bucket. The simulation result using NS-2 and JSVM shows that the proposed scheme with the token bucket has significantly better performance than the conventional scheme without the token bucket in terms of overflow generation number, packet loss rate and PSNR.

Effect of infiltration/inflow by rainfall for sewerage facilities in the area with partially separate sewer system (불완전 분류식 하수처리구역의 강우에 의한 하수도시설의 침입수/유입수 영향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of sewerage facilities through I/I analysis by rainfall by selecting areas where storm overflow diverging chamber is remained due to the non-maintenance drainage equipment when the sewerage system was reconstructed as a separate sewer system. Research has shown that wet weather flow(WWF) increased from 106.2% to 154.8% compared to dry weather flow(DWF) in intercepting sewers, and that the WWF increased from 122.4% to 257.6% in comparison to DWF in storm overflow diverging chamber. As a result, owing to storm overflow diverging chamber of partially separate sewer system with untreated tributary of sewage treatment plant, rainfall-derived infiltration/inflow(RDII) has been analyzed 2.7 times higher than the areas without storm overflow diverging chamber. Meanwhile, infiltration quantity of this study area was relatively higher than that of other study areas. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce infiltration quantity through sewer pipe maintenance nearby river. Drainage equipment maintenance should be performed not to operate storm overflow diverging chamber in order to handle the appropriate sewage treatment plant capacity for rainfall because it is also expected that RDII due to rain will occur after maintenance. In conclusion, it is necessary to recognize aRDII(allowance of rainfall-derived infiltration/inflow) and to be reflected it on sewage treatment plant capacity because aRDII can occur even after maintenance to the complete separate sewer system.

  • Recently, due to global warming and urbanization due to the influence of abnormal weather, weather changes are increasing worldwide. Various measures have been proposed to reduce flood damage as flood volume increases due to problems such as an increase in impermeable area due to urbanization and reckless development. In this study, flow characteristics and overflow volume were analyzed using FLOW-3D, a three-dimensional CFD model, in accordance with changes in the cross-flow weir inlet angle installed in the meandering river section, and a basic study was conducted to evaluate the overflow capacity and calculate the flow coefficient. As a result of the analysis, the smaller the inflow angle of the transverse overflow, the lower the water level and flow rate of the main water flow after passing the transverse overflow, and the higher the inflow angle, the higher the water level and the flow rate. In addition, it was confirmed that the direct downstream flow rate decreased compared to the upstream flow rate when the inflow angle of the transverse overflow was 40° or higher.

Combination of Token Bucket and AMP Schemes to Solve Buffer Underflow and Overflow of Video Streaming in Wireless Communication (무선통신 환경에서 비디오 스트리밍의 버퍼 언더플로우와 오버플로우를 해결하기 위한 토큰버킷과 AMP 기법의 결합)

  • In wireless communication network, the amount of packet data for the video streaming in the playout buffer of the receiver is changed with time according to network condition. If the amount of packet data is less than a specific buffer amount, the buffer underflow problem is generated. On the contrary, if the amount of packet data is more than a given buffer amount, the buffer overflow problem is occurred. When the playout of the video streaming is processed, these buffer underflow and overflow problems cause stop and skip phenomenons and then provide the discontinuity of playout. Therefore, to solve the buffer underflow and overflow problems of the video streaming in wireless communication network, This paper analyzes the combined effect of Token Bucket scheme, which controls the bursty traffic, and AMP(Adaptive Media Playout) scheme, which adaptively changes the playout speed of receiver. Through simulation, we found that the combination of Token Bucket and AMP schemes provides the superiority in terms of the occurrence number of buffer underflow and overflow, the stop duration time and the number of removed frames generated by underflow and overflow, and PSNR.

  • We consider the probability that the total population of a Jackson network exceeds a given large value. By using the relation to the stationary distribution, we derive upper and lower bounds on this probability. These bounds imply the stronger logarithmic limit than that in Glasserman and Kou(1995) when several nodes have the same maximal load.

  • CDP(handoff Call Dropping Probability) and CBP(new Call Blocking Probability) have been used as two important call level QoS parameters in cellular mobile communications. But, many methods to reduce CDP without considering CBP have been studied, and hand-off call priority scheme has been introduced. But the use of hand-off call priority scheme increases CBP and decreases channel utilization rate depending on the number of reserved channel for priority. In this paper, we propose a CAC(Call Admission Control) algorithm with overflow and preemption to solve the problem caused by considering CDP and CBP in calculation of the number of channel reserved. The problem is the increase of CDP as the traffic load increases. In our CAC algorithm, hand-off call is permitted to use(overflow) unreserved and unused channel if there is no reserved and unused channel, and new call is permitted to use(preemption) the channel overflowed by hand-off call if there is no unreserved and unused channel. This mechanism of calculation of the number of reserved channel and CAC algorithm is expected to increase channel utilization rate, and can be applied to media-based QoS provision in cellular mobile communications.

A Study on the Development of Overflow Cutoff Valve for Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinders (액화석유가스 용기용 과류차단밸브의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This research is about overflow cutoff valve for liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. This valve was developed based on Bernoulli's equation and Newton's equation. The structure of overflow cutoff valve was made by insert module instead of the ordinary valve that is used at present. Recently, the increase in use of gas for fuel in houses has resulted to more frequent occurrences of gas related accidents. In Korea, the government has made a law for the obligatory use of the cutoff valves. This cutoff valve is not ya developed. This research focuses on the use of over flow cutoff valve for LPG cylinders. If this valve is adapted, many accidents can be prevented.

The Estimation of Pollution Loads in First-flush Overflows with Various Rainfall and Regional Characteristics (강우 및 지역특성별 초기우수월류에 의한 오염부하 기여도 평가)

  • The purpose of this research was to find a proper disposal rainfall extent to improve water quality. SWMM was applied to select catchment area and tested first flush load and rainfall extent. BOD 40mg/L was selected to dispose the first flush and sewer overflow with the same as the criteria of Sewerage Act. Design rainfall, BOD load ratio of first flush sewer overflow, and the ratio of disposal flow were analyzed under various rainfall distribution. BOD load and design rainfall to treat overflow in situation of first flush extent with 4.3~17.4% were 56~87% and 3.8~6.8 mm/day, respectively. In urban area, first flush loads were not correspond to land activities, but tend to increase with increasing rainfall amount and drainage area. The more the distribution of rainfall is similar to Huff-frontal or central distribution of rainfall, the more increase the first flush loads.

Eliminating Redundant Alarms of Buffer Overflow Analysis Using Context Refinements (분석 문맥 조절 기법을 이용한 버퍼 오버플로우 분석의 중복 경보 제거)

  • In order to reduce the efforts to inspect the reported alarms from a static buffer overflow analyzer, we present an effective method to filter out redundant alarms. In the static analysis, a sequence of multiple alarms are frequently found due to the same cause in the code. In such a case, it is sufficient and reasonable for programmers to examine the first alarm instead of the entire alarms in the same sequence. Based on this observation, we devise a buffer overflow analysis that filters out redundant alarms with our context refinement technique. Our experiment with several open source programs shows that our method reduces the reported alarms by 23% on average.

Reduction of Birefringence and Weld-Line using Over-Flow in Injection Compression Molding for Optic Lens (광학렌즈의 사출압축성형에서 오버플로우를 이용한 웰드라인과 복굴절 저감)

  • This study has focused on the weld-line and birefringence reduction of a plastic optic lens using over and CAE analysis in injection compression molding. A concave lens, which has a thin thickness in the center and a large difference in thickness between the center and the periphery, often causes weld-line defects during injection molding. CAE analysis has been applied to optimize the overflow design in order to reduce the weld-line defects and the polarization defects. To reduce the weld line and birefringence defects, overflow design and application using CAE analysis show that the measured birefringence values of the specimens before the overflow application were 46.8nm and 36.9nm, and the values after the over-flow application were 13.6nm and 14.0nm. From the experimental results, it is confirmed that birefringence is greatly improved when overflow is applied.
