  • In order to develop an optimum formulation for iontophoretic delivery of vitamine C-2-phosphate (VCP) from Carbopol hydrogel, we have investigated various factors which can affect the iontophoretic flux through skin. Such factors as drug concentration, current density, current profile, current duration, ionic strength, pH and percutaneous enhancers (ethanol, glycerine, propylene glycerol, sorbitol, urea) were studied. Compared to the flux by passive or anodal delivery, the flux by cathodal delivery increased markedly, and thus, only cathodal delivery was used in the rest of the flux experiments. Flux increased linearly as the drug concentration and current density increased. As the duration of current application increased from 30 min to 120 min, flux increased linearly, however the AUC was not directly proportional to the applied amount of current. Flux also increased as the pH increased, possibly due to the increase in ionization of phosphate group. As the ionic strength increased, flux decreased. No significant increase in flux was observed after enhancer application, indicating that the effect of current on flux is dominating over the effect of percutaneous enhancers (P>0.05). These results provide important informations that are needed for optimal formulation of iontophortic delivery for VCP.

  • Poly-Si TFT's(Polysilicon thin filmtransistors) have been actively studied due to their applications in active matrix liquid crystal displays and active pull-up devices of CMOS SRAM's. For such applications, the leakage current has to be in the range of sub-picoampere. However, poly-Si TFT's suffer from anomalous high leakage currents, which is attributed to the emission of the traps present at gain boundaries in the drain junction. The leakage current has been analyzed by the field emission via grain-boundary traps and thermionic field emission over potential barrier located at the grain boundary. We found that the models proposed before are not consistent with the experimental results at far as drain-offset poly-Si TFT's we fabricated concern. In this paper, leakage current of drain-offset poly-Si TFT's with different offset lengths was studied. A conduction model based on the thermionic emission of the tunneling electrons is developed to identify the leakage mechanism. It was found that the effective grain size of the drain-offset region is important factor in the leakage current. A good agreement between experimental and simulated results of the leakage current is obtained.

  • Orthogonal fluxgate sensor was fabricated with cylinder-shaped NiZn ferrite core, Cu wire through the core and pickup coil wound on the core, and the bias current effect on the output sensitivity of it was investigated. The output ($$\sim_\sim$$ sensitivity) of the sensor was largely dependent on the operation frequency, and the tendency of sensor output was similar to that of the impedance of pickup coil. The maximum output was obtained by adding the DC bias current of which value was over 50% of the excitation current. The output was saturated when the DC bias current was larger than 50% of the excitation current.

  • The most common structure of the current transformer (CT) consists of a length of wire wrapped many times around a silicon steel ring passed over the circuit being measured. Therefore, the primary circuit of CT consists of a single turn of the conductor, with a secondary circuit of many tens or hundreds of turns. The primary winding may be a permanent part of the current transformer, with a heavy copper bar to carry the current through the magnetic core. However, when the large current flows into a wire, it is difficult to measure its magnitude of current because the core is saturated and the core shows magnetic nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, we proposed a newly designed CT which has an air gap in the core to decrease the generated magnetic flux. Adding the air gap in the magnetic path increases the total magnetic reluctance against the same magnetic motive force (MMF). Using a ferrite core instead of steel also causes the generation of low magnetic flux. These features can protect the magnetic saturation of the CT core compared with the steel core. This technique can help the design of the CT to obtain a special shape and size.

  • An efficiency improving method for Uninterruptible Power Supply System(UPS) was developed by using OP-AMP based application circuits such as voltage detection device, current detection device and static switch control device. The efficiency improving algorithm was made by mixing the operating concepts of On-Line type UPS with the operating concepts of Off-Line type UPS. The UPS' inverter does not work if the UPS' output load current is not higher than the low load operating current which is about 0-30(%) of the UPS' output load capacity. The low load operating current is adjustable within the half of the UPS' output load capacity. If the UPS' output load current is rising over than the low load operating current, the UPS' inverter starts working and the inverter output power feeds to the loads of UPS. If UPS' input power breaks out while UPS' inverter does not operate because the load current is low, the inverter starts working within 4(ms) with excessive output voltage which is ${\pm}$8(%) of normal UPS' output voltage. Like these. UPS can continuously feeds power to it's load device and reduce power consumptions.

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications. • This paper proposes a 250 mV supply voltage digital low-dropout (LDO) regulator. The proposed LDO regulator reduces the supply voltage to 250 mV by implementing with all digital circuits in a$0.11{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The fast current tracking scheme achieves the fast settling time of the output voltage by eliminating the ringing problem. The over-voltage and under-voltage detection circuits decrease the overshoot and undershoot voltages by changing the switch array current rapidly. The switch bias circuit reduces the size of the current switch array to 1/3, which applies a forward body bias voltage at low supply voltage. The fabricated LDO regulator worked at 0.25 V to 1.2 V supply voltage. It achieved 250 mV supply voltage and 220 mV output voltage with 99.5% current efficiency and 8 mV ripple voltage at $20{\mu}A$ to $200{\mu}A$ load current.

  • This paper introduces a new current sharing technique to Interleaved Boost Converter (IBC) using carrier slope control. The IBC is able to boost the input voltage and operates at higher current levels and has various advantages over a single power module. However, how to balance the current each module is still important problem. To solve this problem, the proposed technique can distribute the power and load current equally based on master-slave current sharing method. Unlike a conventional approach, this technique can be extended even though the current stress of switching components at slave modules is significantly smaller than that of the master module. The simulation and the experimental results are presented to show the validity.

  • Surface wind field over an ocean plays a very important role not only to generate wind-driven current, but also to control heat exchange between ocean and atmosphere. However, the surface wind-field used for the ocean circulation and heat exchange is usually estimated by indirect methods because of lack of observed wind data and incomplete spatial coverage.
