  • The main concern for a displacement measurement is the performance of a sensor such as speed, resolution, accuracy and so on. The mainly used sensors are a linear CCD(charge coupled device) and a PSD(position sensitive detection) as a non-contact type. The output value of a linear CCD is so sensitive to a temperature change that it needs a cooling device. Additionally, because of its structural problem, there are some limits in resolution and speed, and it needs a complex image processing algorithm. Also, PSD has some disadvantages like sensitivity to environmental lights and nonlinearities. Like this, a linear CCD and PSD have their own characteristics and if we know them well, we can choose the one of the two sensors properly in some applications according to purposes. In this paper, I performed which one is superior to the other among the two sensors in terms of accuracy, resolution, measurement speed, signal to noise ratio.

  • In this paper, a numerical methodology for health monitoring of weldment was proposed using finite element method coupled with continuum damage mechanics. The welding-induced residual stress distribution of T-joint weldment was calculated using a commercial finite element package SYSWELD+. The distribution of latent damage was evaluated from the stress and strain components taken as the output of a finite element calculation. Numerical examples were given to demonstrate the usefulness of this so-called "post-processing approach" in the case of welding-induced damage assessment.

  • In this paper, the model for personal navigation system using low-cost inertial sensors and error compensation method with GPS are proposed. Simulation is accomplished for the performance test. WNS(Walking Navigation System) is a kind of personal navigation using the number of a walk, stride and azimuth. Because the accuracy of these variables determines the navigational performance, computational methods have been investigated. The step is detected using the motion pattern by walking motion, stride is determined by neural network and azimuth is calculated with gyro´s output. The neural network filters off unnecessary motions. However, error compensation method is needed, because the error of navigation information increases with time ...

  • A phase-locked Channel-Substrate-Planar(CSP) laser arrays is described. Arrays of emitters with weak coupling are operated in a set of discrete modes determined by the number and spacing of the emitters. The interactions between emitters lead to a splitting of the wave-length and gain which are calculated from the coupling strength. Phase-locked arrays has exhibited to CW output-power as high as 80 m W and the highest order mode will have preferred oscillation. A strong hole burning is occurred at p=30m W. The most stable lasing mode is occurred at element spacing S=3.5\ulcornerm and there is no coupling at S>7 \ulcornerm.

  • In this paper, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with automatic amplitude control is designed using a 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS process. A cross-coupled PMOS pair is used for a negative resistance to compensate for the losses in the LC resonator, and an automatic\ulcorner amplitude control function is adapted to provide constant output power independent of the Q-factor of the LC resonator. The designed VCO operates in the 200MHz to 550MHz frequency range using different external resonators. The simulated phase noise is -128 dBc/Hz at 100KHz offset from the carrier frequency of 260MHz. It dissipates 0.㎽ from a 3V power supply. The area is 300${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ x1201${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.

  • Novel class AB CMOS second-generation current conveyors (CCII) using 0.6.mu.m n-well CMOS process for high-frequency current-mode signal processing were developed. The CCII for low power operation consists of a class AB push-pull stage for the current input, a complementary source follower for the voltage input, and a cascode current mirror for the current output. In this architecture, the two input stages are coupled by current mirrors to reduce the current input impedance. Measurements of the fabricated CCII show that the current input impedance is 875.ohm. and the bandwidth of flat gain when used as a voltage amplifier extends beyond 4MHz. The power dissipation is 1.25mW and the active chip area is 0.2*0.15[mm$\^$2/].

  • Novel class A CMOS second-generation current conveyors (CCII) using 0.6.mu.m n-well standard CMOS process for high-frequency current-mode signal processing were developed. The CCII consists of a regulated current-cell for the voltage input and a cascode current mirror for the current output. In this architecture, the two input stages are coupled by current mirrors to reduce the current input impedance. Measurements of the fabricated cCII show that the current input impedance is 308 .ohm. and the 3-dB cutoff frequency when used as a voltage amplifier extends beyond 10MHz. The linear dynamic ranges of voltage and current are from -0.5V to 1.5V and from -100.mu.A to +120.mu.A for supply voltage V$\_$DD/ = -V$\_$SS/=2.5V, respectively. The power dissipation is 2 mW and the active chip area is 0.2 * 0.2 [mm$\^$2/].

  • In scanning tunneling microscopy, the piezoelectric actuator is popuilarly used in stacked type as it can provide remarkable positioning resolution and stiffness. The actuator, however, exhibits a considerable amount of hystereic nonlinearity, resulting in losses of overall measuring accuracy when a linear model is used for its control and calibration, In this study, a nonlinear model is proposed for predicting the precise relationship between the input connand voltage and the output displacement of the actuator itself, cross-coupled electrical behaviours of the driving circuit with the actuator, and mechanical characteristics of the driven components of the actuator. Finally experimental results prove that the nonlinear model enhances the measuring of scanning tunneling microscopy by an order ten in comparison with a conventional linear model.

  • Recently, the electric device has been launching owing to the development of industry. That development also can maximize the efficiency of generator. The emergency rescue vehicle operation differs from ordinary vehicles in engine life and usage distances. For the application of this system, this research proposes the ways to operate the emergency rescue vehicle operations more efficiently. Currently, many power systems, especially motors, developed with a large output of power. It is possible to produce electricity in the engine room with enough space and to operate all equipment within the rating load capacity.
