Because of overload working condition of sintering cooler, the cooler fan often suffers the break or damage of rotor blade and fixing shaft. Therefore, internal flow characteristics of a steelworks sintering cooler fan by the duct shape of the cooler fan outlet, such as duct outlet opening ratio, duct height and dividing wall shape on the duct outlet flow pattern are examined in detail. The results show that relatively short duct wall height and attachment of dividing wall shape improves flow patterns considerably.
In the present study, the heat and flow characteristics of a parallel-flow heat exchanger are numerically analyzed by using three-dimensional turbulent modeling. Heat transfer rate and pressure drop are evaluated using the concept of the efficiency index by varying the locations, the shapes and angles of inlet/outlet, and the protrusion height of flat tube. It is found that negative angle of the inlet improves the heat transfer rate and pressure drop. Results show that the locations of the inlet and outlet should be toward the right side and the left side to the reference model, respectively, in order to enhance the heat transfer rate and pressure drop. Increasing the height of the lower header causes pressure drop to decrease and yields the good flow characteristics. The lower protrusion height of flat tube shows the improvement of the heat transfer rate and pressure drop. The heat transfer rate is greatly affected by the parameters of outlet side such as the location and angle of the outlet. However, the pressure drop is influenced by the parameters of inlet side such as the location and angle of inlet and the height of the header.
When a molten corium is relocated in a lower head of a reactor vessel, the ERVC (External Reactor Vessel Cooling) system is actuated as coolant is supplied into a reactor cavity to remove a decay heat from the molten corium during a severe accident. To achieve this severe accident mitigation strategy, the two-phase natural circulation flow in the annular gap between the external reactor vessel and the insulation should be formed sufficiently by designing the coolant inlet/outlet area and gap size adequately on the insulation device. For this reason, one-dimensional natural circulation flow tests were conducted to estimate the natural circulation flow under the ERVC condition of APR1400. The experimental facility is one-dimensional and scaled-down as the half height and 1/238 rectangular channel area of the APR1400 reactor vessel. As the water inlet area increased, the natural circulation mass flow rate asymptotically increased, that is, it converged at a specific value. And the circulation mass flow rate also increased as the outlet area, injected air flow rate, and outlet height increased. But the circulation mass flow rate was not changed along with the external water level variation if the water level was higher than the outlet height.
In this study, the large-scale hydraulic model test was performed to investigate the hydraulic characteristics for development of the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system at the dike gate. The outlet height, outflow number, outflow discharge, and outflow cycle were compared and analyzed. The non-power soil cleaning and keeping system was most effective at 11.2 mm in the outlet height. And then the mean outflow cycle was 1.09 sec, and the mean outflow discharge was $0.00164m^3/s$. The total outflow number increased gradually as the water level of a water tank increased, and the outlet height decreased. As a level of water tank decreased, the mean outflow cycle was lengthened, and the unit outflow discharge increased. This result showed this system was most effective. To remove the silty clay deposited in facilities, the methods of excavation, dredging, high pressure washing, etc have been applied to the tidal facilities such as land reclamation, a small size fishing port, and a harbor for maintenance. However, this is extremely cost-ineffective, whereas the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system will bring about an enormously positive economic effect. In addition, when the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system is applied to the dike gate of land reclamation, a thorough examination of the local tidal data and the careful system planning are required to prevent the disaster damage caused by flooding.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the harvesting performance of a prototype small combine for buckwheat and adlay. Methods: The prototype small combine was designed and constructed. Its ratio of grain loss, ratio of output components in the grain outlet, and field capacity for harvesting buckwheat and adlay were analyzed through field tests. Results: The prototype small combine required a working width of about 0.6 to 0.7 m to harvest buckwheat. The maximum travel speed was about 0.36 m/. The total ratio of grain loss was about 21.6%, which consisted of 8.8% at the header and 12.8% at the dust outlet. The grain and the material other than grain (MOG) ratios at the grain outlet were 94.1% and 5.9% respectively. In the case of adlay harvest, the maximum working width was about 1.2 m, that is, two rows. The range of maximum travel speed was about 0.45 to 0.46 m/s. When adlay was harvested in one row, the total ratio of grain loss ranged from 36.3 to 42.8% according to the cutting height. The cutting height of 30 cm resulted in a higher total ratio of grain loss than 60 cm and 90 cm. When the cutting height was 60 cm, there was no significant change in the total ratio of grain loss according to the number of working rows and the stage of the primary transmission shift. The total ratio of grain loss ranged from 35.2 to 37.7%. The grain and the MOG ratios at the grain outlet ranged from 93.1 to 95.8% and from 4.2 to 6.9%, respectively. No significant difference was observed in relation to cutting height, number of working rows, and the stage of the primary transmission shift. Conclusions: The prototype small combine for harvesting miscellaneous cereal crops showed good potential for the efficient harvesting of buckwheat and adlay. However, to improve the harvesting performance, there seems to be a need to develop new crop varieties suitable for machine-based harvesting and improve the transmissions, reels, separation/cleaning systems.
The present research is based upon the numerical analysis of a car windshield in order to represent the optimum design guide to improve the overall defrosting performance of the system. First, the control factors that highly affect the defrosting performance of a car windshield are chosen and afterwards, the optimum variables of each control factor are extracted out to analyze its performance. The main control factors for this research are respectively, the air injection angle of a defroster nozzle, the height of a nozzle outlet, and the ratio of the width to the height of a nozzle outlet. For such case when the air inlet angle is relatively small, the flow near the vicinity of the inner face of a windshield tends to expand. As a consequence, the heat transfer rate through the windshield decreases. Also, the height of a nozzle outlet is recommended to maintain its size to minimum. However, when the ratio mentioned before is designed less than unity, the defrosting performance decreases.
This paper analyzed the characteristics of heat transfer in quadangle duct with absorber plate by solar radiation. Effects o( Reynolds number on increasing temperature at outlet for variation of absorber plate temperature were analyzed by using numerical analysis technique. And also the effects of turbulent intensity of inlet flow on increasing temperature at outlet for various duct height and effects of inlet aspect ratio of quadrangle duct and position of heating surface on the outlet temperature were analysed. As the results, Outlet temperature was greatly influenced in low Reynolds number. And the highest outlet temperature distribution appeared on the inlet aspect ratio 2 because of the buoyancy effect.
Experimental measurements of the heat flux to a upward impinging water jet on high heated test surface were obtained in the transition and film boiling regimes. Test variables were nozzle outlet velocity, subcooled water temperature and height of supplementary water. Boiling curve of this investigation is similar to a pool boiling curve, but it has one or two cap-shaped peaks in the transition regime. In the film boiling regime, the heat transfer rates are increased along with the increment of nozzle outlet velocity and subcooled temperature. There is optimum height of supplementary water for the augmentation of heat transfer Generalized correlations of boiling heat transfer are presented for maximum heat flux, minimum heat flux and $q_c$ at each supplementary height.

The purpose of this study is to find optimal conditions for various outlet clearances of prototype garlic clove separator with a rotating cone in the constant inlet clearance and cone height. Optimal outlet clearance from medium to small size garlics was 25 mm at the $200{\sim}400rpm$. For large garlic, optimal outlet clearances of Namdo and Uiseong garlic were 34 mm and 37 mm, respectively, in the range of $300{\sim}400rpm$. The proportion of garlic separation was over 95% for all quality of garlics. The proportions of damaged garlics at 25 mm and 28 mm outlet clearances were below 5% and below 10%, respectively. Therefore, in order to maintain high performance of garlic separation for the various varieties and qualities, the rotating cone type separator should be designed with cone speed ranges of $200{\sim}400rpm$ and the outlet clearance ranges of $25{\sim}37 mm$. The outlet clearance of the separator should be easily controlled within those ranges.
