  • Unbalanced source voltages due to unbalanced loads in the 3-phase power system is decomposed into positive, negative and zero sequence components. Also, assuming there is no neutural path in the system, the zero sequence component is not shown. Therefore, it is possible to compensate unbalanced source voltage by canceling the negative sequency component of the voltages of the source. In this paper, an algorithm compensating unbalanced source voltages by canceling the negative sequence component is presented and analysis of instantaneous voltage compensator using 3-phase PWM inverter is carried out through computer simulation.

  • A consecutive k out of n failure lines with sink-source parts is a system of components in sequence such that the system fails whether some k consecutive components are all fail. Some object, be it a flow, is to be relayed from a source to a sink through a sequence of intermediate stations(components). Now care should be taken as to if the source and the sink are also considered components of the systems, i. e. , whether they serve the same function as the intermediate components (stations). Such systems are different from ordinary consecutive k- out of n failure lines by adding the on source and sink pole[6]. The main properties of the reliability by the optimal redundancy of consecutive k out of n failure lines are presented under this modification.

  • This paper describes a new method for separation of the Volterra kernels which are identified by use of M-sequence. One of the authors has proposed a method for identification of Volterra kernels of nonlinear systems using M-sequence and correlation technique. When M-sequence are applied to a nonlinear systems, the cross-correlation function between the input and the output of the nonlinear systems includes cross-sections of high-order Volterra kernels. However, if various order Volterra kernels exixt on the obtained cross-correlation function, it is difficult to separate the Volterra kernels. In this paper, the authors show that the magnitude of Volterra kernels is maginified by the amplitude of M-sequence according to the order of Volterra kernels. By use of this property, each order Volterra kernels is obtained by solving linear equations. Simulations are carried out for some nonlinear systems. The results show that Volterra kernels can be separated in each order successfully by the proposed method.

  • Panfacial bone fracture is challenging. Even experienced surgeons find restoration of original facial architecture difficult because of the severe degree of fragmentation and loss of reference segments that could guide the start of facial reconstruction. To restore the facial contour, surgeons usually follow a general sequence for panfacial bone reduction. Among the sequences, the bottom-to-top and outside-in sequence is reported to be the most widely used in recent publications. However, a single sequence cannot be applied to all cases of panfacial fractures because of the variations in panfacial bone fracture patterns. In this article, we intend to find the reference and discuss the efficacy of inside-out sequence in facial bone fracture reconstruction.

  • An application of the genetic algorithm(GA) to the loading sequencing problem in port container terminals is presented in this paper. The efficiency of loading operations in port container terminals is highly dependent on the loading sequence of export containers. In order to sequence the loading operation, we hove to determine the route of each container handling equipment (transfer crane or straddle carried in the yard during the loading operation. The route of a container handling equipment is determined in a way of minimizing the total container handling time. An encoding method is developed which keeps intermediate solutions feasible and speeds up the evolution process. We determine the sequence of each individual container which the container handling equipment picks up at each yard-bay as well as the visiting sequence of yard-bays of the equipment during the loading operation. A numerical experiment is carried out to evaluate the performance of the algorithm developed.

Sequence Analysis and Potential Action of Eukaryotic Type Protein Kinase from Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)

  • Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of kinases involved in the transduction of cellular signals that promote lipid hydrolysis. PKC plays a pivotal role in mediating cellular responses to extracellular stimuli involved in proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Comparative analysis of the PKC-${\alpha},{\beta},{\varepsilon}$ isozymes of 200 recently sequenced microbial genomes was carried out using variety of bioinformatics tools. Diversity and evolution of PKC was determined by sequence alignment. The ser/thr protein kinases of Streptomyces coelicolor A3 (2), is the only bacteria to show sequence alignment score greater than 30% with all the three PKC isotypes in the sequence alignment. S.coelicolor is the subject of our interest because it is notable for the production of pharmaceutically useful compounds including anti-tumor agents, immunosupressants and over two-thirds of all natural antibiotics currently available. The comparative analysis of three human isotypes of PKC and Serine/threonine protein kinase of S.coelicolor was carried out and possible mechanism of action of PKC was derived. Our analysis indicates that Serine/ threonine protein kinase from S. coelicolor can be a good candidate for potent anti-tumor agent. The presence of three representative isotypes of the PKC super family in this organism helps us to understand the mechanism of PKC from evolutionary perspective.

PVDHMM을 이용한 음소열 기반의 SDR 응용 (Spoken Document Retrieval Based on Phone Sequence Strings Decoded by PVDHMM)

  • In this paper, we introduce a phone vector discrete HMM(PVDHMM) that decodes a phone sequence string, and demonstrates the applicability to spoken document retrieval. The PVDHMM treats a phone recognizer or large vocabulary continuous speech recognizer (LVCSR) as a vector quantizer whose codebook size is equal to the size of its phone set. We apply the PVDHMM to decode the phone sequence strings and compare the outputs with those of a continuous speech recognizer(CSR). Also we carry out spoken document retrieval experiment through PVDHMM word spotter on the phone sequence strings which are generated by phone recognizer or LVCSR and compare its results with those of retrieval through the phone-based vector space model.

  • A reliable fault type identification (phase selection) plays a very important role in transmission line protection, particularly in Extra High Voltage(EHV) networks. The conventional fault type identification algorithm used the phase difference between positive and negative sequence current excluding load current. But, it is difficult to pick out only fault current since we can not know when a fault occurs and identify the fault type in weak-infeed conditions that dominate zero-sequence current in phase current. The proposed algorithm can identify the accurately fault type using the sum of unit vectors which are calculated by positive-sequence votage and negative-sequence voltage.

복잡한 지질구조 지역에서의 3차원 탄성파 Attribute를 이용한 층서해석 사례 (3-Dimensional Sequence Interpretation of Seismic Attributes in the Structurally Complex Area)

  • 본 연구는 한국석유공사가 셸사(화란)와 공동탐사를 하고있는 남콘손분지에 대한 3차원 탐사작업의 일환으로 실시되었으며 구조가 매우 복잡한 동지역에서의 탄성파층서 해석 사례를 소개하고자 한다. 지질구조가 복잡한 지역에서는 탄성파상이나 시퀀스 경계면 형태(lap-out pattern)가 탄성파 자료상에 잘 나타나지 않으므로 Exxon Group(Vail et at., 1977)등이 개발한 탄성파 층서 분석법의 한계점이 있다. 이러한 지역에서는 시추공의 층서분석 결과와 탄성파 Attribute 및 등층후도 등을 이용하여 탄성파 층서 분석을 실시할 수 있다. 연구결과 탄성파 Attribute는 시퀀스 및 시스템트랙면의 고퇴적 환경과 암상변화와 대비가 되며 등층후도 및 구조도를 사용하여 시스템트랙 내부의 층서변화와 대비가 가능하였다. 또한 Azimuth Attribute를 사용하여 탄화수소의 이동경로 등을 예측할 수 있었다. 이러한 층서분석 결과를 종합하여 저류암, 덮개암, 구조형성시기, 및 탄화수소의 이동경로 등에 대한 리스크를 계산하는데 이용하였다.

  • 화력발전소를 기동하기 위해서는 수많은 기기조작들이 수동 및 자동으로 또한 순차적 및 병렬로 정확하게 진행되어야 한다. 따라서 발전소의 기동 중 긴박하게 이루어지는 수많은 기기 조작들이 모두 제대로 진행되고 있는지의 여부를 실시간으로 감시하는 일은 매우 복잡하고 긴장을 요하는 임무(task)이다. 본 논문에서는 화력 발전소의 기동시퀀스의 정상 진행 여부를 효과적으로 감시하기 위하여 Event Sequence Monitoring Graph(ESMG)라는 자료구조(Data Structure)를 제안하고 그 구현 기법에 대하여 논하고자 한다. 제안하된 ESMG는 용량 500MW 급의 국내 전형적인 표준형 화력발전소의 주 급수펌프 시스템의 기동 시퀀스의 진행 감시에 적용하기 위한 예를 들었으며 향후 유용하게 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 보였다.
