  • Numerical computations are carried out to analyze the characteristics of flow fields around Air Supported Ships. The computations are performed in a rectangular grid system based on MAC(Marker And Cell) method. The governing equations are represented in finite difference forms by forward differencing in time and centered differencing in space except for its convection terms. For the certification of this numerical analysis method, the computations of flow fields around a Catamaran, an ACV(Air Cushion Vehicle) modeled with pressure distribution on free surface and two SES(Surface Effect Ship)'s are carried out, The results of the present computations are compared with the previously presented computational and experimental results in the same condition.

  • A numerical computation is carried out to analyse characteristics of flow fields around Air Supported Ships having arbitrary form. The computations are performed in a rectangular grid system with MAC(Marker And Cell) method. The governing equations are represented in a Finite Difference form by forward differencing in time and centered differencing in space except for convection terms. For validation of this numerical analysis method, the computation of flow fields around Catamaran and ACV(Air Cushion Vehicle) with pressure distribution on free surface are done, and that around Surface Effect Ship is also carried out. The results of the computations are compared with the those of existed numerical computation and experimental results with the same condition.

  • This paper presents on EMQ model which determines an optimal production run length in a deteriorating machine. It is assumed that a machine is subject to a random deterioration from an in-control state to an out-of-control state with on arbitrary distribution and thus producing some proportion of defective items. An optimal production run length and a minimum average cost are derived in each of three deteriorating processes; constant, linearly increasing, and exponentially increasing. The model with repair cost is also analyzed. Several mistakes in previous research are found and discussed. Numerical experiments are carried out to see the behavior of the proposed model depending on the cost factors as well as machine parameters, and some interesting behaviors are observed.

  • The formation and evolution of galaxies is known to be fundamentally linked to the local environment in which they reside. In the highest-density cluster environments, galaxies tend to be more massive, have lower star formation rates and dust content, and a higher fraction have elliptical morphologies. The stellar populations of these cluster galaxies are older implying that they formed the bulk of their stars much earlier and have since evolved passively. Quantifying the specific environmental factors that contribute to shaping cluster galaxies over the Hubble time and measuring their early evolution can only be accomplished by directly tracing the galaxy growth in young clusters and forming porto-clusters. In this talk, I will present a novel technique designed to map out the total dust obscured star formation relative to where existing stars lie. I will demonstrate that this technique can be used 1) to determine if/where/when the activity is heightened or suppressed in dense cluster environment; 2) to measure the total mass and spatial distribution of stellar populations; and 3) to better inform theoretical models. Our ongoing work to extend this analysis out to protoclusters (z~2-4) will be discussed.

  • In medical selection of Daehan Education Insurance, for 6 months from June 1st, 1984 to November 30th, 1984 we examined 2523 persons, who were supposed to receive general test and Normal subject test Then we did syphilis test by selecting the way of R.P.R. card test and repeatedly confirming the examination serologically. The results are as follows: 1) As results of R.P.R. card test, 30 out of 1592 males are positive(1.89%) and 10 out of 931 females are positive(1.1%). 40 out of total 2523 persons are positive(1.6%). 2) As results of T.P.H.A, 28 out of 1592 males are positive(1.76%) and 9 out of 931 females are positive. 37 out of total 2523 persons are positive(1.47%). 3) When R.P.R. card test is compared with T.P.H.A test, 40 persons by R.P.R. showed that 2 males and female are negative and only 37 persons are positive in T.P.H.A test. And so the result agreement rate of R.P.R. card test and T.P.H.A test showed 92.5%. 4) In the age-distribution males have high positive rates in 30's and 40's and females have high positive rates in 20's and 40's when the subjects are normal.

Newly recorded diatom species in marine and fresh water of Korea

  • A study on indigenous diatoms was carried out at 71 sites during the period from April 1999 to August 2014 in marine and fresh water in Korea. Forty species of diatoms are new to Korea and they are divided into three classes, six subclasses, 13 orders, 19 families, and 28 genera. The nomenclatures, references, dimensions, specimens examined, local habitat, distribution in Korea, and photograph are reported here. The 40 species found in marine and fresh water showed speciesspecific habitats.

  • In this paper, some of the critical factors in Necking-In process are investigated using a numerical analysis. The optimal processing parameters are established and applied to the actual processes. FEM analysis is carried out based on elastic-plastic work hardening model using ABAQUS/Standard. The results obtained from the commercially available code ABAQUS/Standard are compared with the experimental data and shows a good agreement with experimental data. The purpose of this paper is to search for the relations among the roller angle, feed length, and working force. Stress, strain distribution, displacement and increase in the length of the workpiece are also investigated.

  • Adaptive analysis of multilayered composite and sandwich plates is carried out. The adaptive analysis is based on a finite element error form, which measures the difference between the through-the-thickness distribution of finite element displacement and the actual displacement. The region where the error-measure exceeds the prescribed admitted error value, the finite element mesh locally refined in the thickness direction using the mesh superposition technique. Several numerical tests are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the current approach for adaptive analysis of laminated plates.

  • A stress-strength model is formulated for s out of k system of identical components. We consider the estimation of system reliability from survival count data from a Bayesian viewpoint. We assume a quadratic loss and a Dirichlet prior distribution. It is shown that a Bayes sequential procedure can be established. The Bayes estimator is compared with the UMVUE obtained by Bhattacharyya and with an estimator based on Mann-Whitney statistic.

  • In this study, the drawing characteristics of circular drawbead are examined with the plane strain elastic-plastic FE Method by varying the process variables such as friction coefficient, drawbead radius, and closing depth. Numerical analysis are carried out by 2-D elastic-plastic F.E.M. The results are compared with the existing experimental results about the drawing force, the die clamping force, and the strain distribution of upper and lower sheet faces
