  • An upper bound elemental technique (UBET) program has been developed to analyze forging load, die-cavity filling and effective strain distribution for flash and flashless forgings. The simulation for flash and flashless forgings are applied axisy mmetric and plane-strain closed-die forging with rib-web type cavity. Inverse triangular and inverse trapezoidal elements are used to analyze flashless forging. The analysis is described for merit of flashless precision forging. Experiments have been carried out with pure plasticine billets at room temperature. Theoretical predictions of the forging load and the flow pattern are in good agreement with experimental results.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the distribution of Legionella spp and microbe from cooling towers water of Public establishments in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do. As results of this study, the cooling tower 132 sites were detecting L. pneumophila in order to July(12%) > August (14%) > June, September no-detected. The public establishments were detecting L. pneumophila in order to Department store(27.3%) > Hospital(8.7%) > Office(5.9%) > Big Mart(5.0%) > Hotel, Subway no-detected. The correlation coefficient pH and L.pneumophila showed 0.62(p=0.05), 0.27(p=0.45) in temperature and L.pheumophila, 0.40(p=0.25) in turbidity and L.pneumophila.

  • Finite element analysis was carried out using wafer-scale and particle-scale models to understand the mechanism of the fast removal rate(edge effect) at wafer edges in the chemical-mechanical polishing process. This is the first to report that a particle-scale model can explain the edge effect well in terms of stress distribution and magnitude. The results also revealed that the mechanism could not be fully understood by using the wafer-scale model, which has been used in many previous studies. The wafer-scale model neither gives the stress magnitude that is sufficient to remove material nor indicates the coincidence between the stress distribution and the removal rate along a wafer surface.

  • Membrane structures are widely used for LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) storage tanks. This study presents a membrane structure based on the Mark-III type. For its development, a series of numerical simulation was conducted using ABAQUS and experimental investigation was carried out. The manufacturing process of the membrane was simulated. The thickness distribution predicted by the numerical approach agreed well with the experimental results.

  • Fluid model based numerical simulation was carried out for an inductively coupled plasma assisted sputter deposition system. Power absorption, electron temperature and density distribution was modeled with drift diffusion approximation. Effect of an electrically conducting substrate was analyzed and showed confined plasma below the substrate. Part of the plasma was leaked around the substrate edge. Comparison between the quasi-neutrality based compact model and Poisson equation resolved model showed more broadened profile in inductively coupled plasma power absorption than quasi-neutrality case, but very similar Ar ion number density profile. Electric potential was calculated to be in the range of 50 V between a Cr rod source and a conductive substrate. A new model including Cr sputtering by Ar+was developed and used in simulating Cr deposition process. Cr was modeled to be ionized by direct electron impact and showed narrower distribution than Ar ions.

  • It is often needed to generate random numbers from truncated t-distributions to carry out Bayesian inferences, especially in Monte Carlo integration for estimation of posterior densities of constrained parameters. However, when the restricted area is an extreme tail area with a small probability most existing random generation methods are not efficient. In this paper, we propose an efficient acceptance-rejection method to generate random numbers from extreme tail areas of a t-distribution. Using some simulation results, we compare the proposed algorithm with other popular methods.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the ratio of the scale parameters in the inverted exponential distributions. The first and second order matching priors, the reference prior and Jeffreys prior are developed. It turns out that the second order matching prior matches the alternative coverage probabilities, is a cumulative distribution function matching prior and is a highest posterior density matching prior. In addition, the reference prior and Jeffreys' prior are the second order matching prior. We show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through a simulation study as well as provide an example based on real data is given.

  • In this paper, reliability software model considering fault detection rate based on observations from the process of software product testing was studied. Adding new fault probability using the S-shaped distribution model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. When correcting or modifying the software, finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model was used. In a software failure data analysis considering the time-dependent fault detection rate, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation of failure time data and reliability make out.

  • Finite failure NHPP models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault (intensity function). In this paper, intensity function of Goel-Okumoto model was reviewed, proposes Kappa (2) and the Burr distribution, which maked out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method. For model determination and selection, explored goodness of fit (the error sum of squares) The methodology developed in this paper is exemplified with a software reliability real data set introduced by NTDS (Naval Tactical Data System)
