The safety of ships is one of the most important concerns in terms of the environment and human life. A ship in bad condition is likely to be subject to accidents, such as collision and grounding. When a ship has minor collision damages in the form of circle or ellipse, its ultimate strength will be reduced. It is important to evaluate the reduction ratio of a ship's ultimate strength that results from damages. The strength reduction of a plate with a cutout in the form of hole has been treated by many researchers. A closed-form formula for the reduction of ultimate strength of a plate, considering the effect of several forms of cutout, has been suggested. However, the structure of ships is composed of plates and stiffeners so-called stiffened plates and it is likely that plates and stiffeners will be damaged together in collisions. This paper investigates the effect of minor collision damages on the ultimate strength of a stiffened plate by using numerical analysis. For this study, the deformed shape of minor collision damages on a stiffened plate was made by using a contact algorithm and was used as the initial shape for ultimate stress analysis. Then, a series of nonlinear FE analyses was conducted to investigate the reduction effects on the ultimate strength of the stiffened plate. The boundary conditions were simply supported at all boundaries, and the tripping of stiffener was neglected. The results are presented in the form of reduction ratio between the ultimate strength of an original, intact stiffened plate and that of a damaged stiffened plate.
The recent works of architecture and interior design take on too various aspects to be classified as a trend or tendency. Many subjects, seeking the superiority between form and function in space which was the issue of Modernism, got to face the works which transcend the limitation of architecture due to the development of a variety of media and technology these days. In result, we could see the works which are to be Included into the category of art rather than architecture. This study starts from the thought that the common aspects of these works are based on the strangeness to pursue uniqueness, peculiarities or novelty. 'The subject of this study, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$, creates a new relation, disconnected from customs, to an architecture which became familiar through defragment, fixation and abstraction by the habitual relation and makes it reborn as an architecture which gives us a fantasy and a pleasure, by converting into the shape and image which are different from its original shape when a stimulus is given to an architecture. This study starts from the artistic aspect which has a close correlation with the architecture. The subject, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$ could be historically considered in two aspects - $D\acute{e}paysement$ of Surrealism which developed in paintings and Defamiliarization of Russian Formalism in the area of literature. This study is carried in a category of $D\acute{e}paysement$, focusing on the visual aspect of the architecture. This study is composed as follows: In chapter 2, a theoretical research is performed according to the definition and meaning of the $D\acute{e}paysement$ expression techniques, its origination and evolution, and type classification by the features of expression techniques in the era of Surrealism when $D\acute{e}paysement$ developed most vigorously in the area of art. In chapter 3, the system which formalizes the expression method of the techniques is presented, focusing on the case analysis of the artistic works according to the types of $D\acute{e}paysement$. In chapter 4, the application of the expression techniques of $D\acute{e}paysement$ is discussed by conducting cases analysis of the modern interior design.
Generally beam design depends on the yielding and maximum strength of each member varying with its section shape. Web plate of H-shape beam has not been substituted with glass plate, because it is known that its strength and heat properties are different and it is limited to substitute the existing steel web with glass element. Ceiling height of each room should be decreased with more than 60-80cm due to the beam. Differently from this condition, glass web beam has a good point to see through it and sunshine can be penetrate into the other size especially when it is installed as of outside wall. And also, it can be safer due to controlling room inside easier, if the strength is applicate. This study is to show some applicability after finding out the properties using the test. The test members with a size of $1,600{\times}200{\times}300{\times}9mm$ being SS41 rolled steel having THK 9mm flange while having 8,10mm and reinforced glass 12mm thickness is bonded with epoxy bond under the condition of temperature $28^{\circ}C$, humidity 50%, bonding power 24Mpa. It is show reinforced glass has 5 times of fracture stress more than the common glass but $50{\sim}150%$ difference between these 2 kinds of glass was shown. Reinforce glass did not support the original upper flange after fracture but the common glass did the upper flange after unloading. Generally reinforced glass is stronger than the common one but the common glass having a part of crack on it, compared with reinforced glass having the overall fracture could be more useful in case of needing ductility.
The modeling methods of routing region used in the automatic placement/routing system are a grid and non-grid. Because the gird method is curbed by its size and a board if the electrical and physical elements on PCB are of small quantity, it has many memories. Therefore, it has demerit which decreases the speed of automatic placement/routing. The Shape-based type, non-grid method, makes the shapes exist as an in dividual element in a memory by using a region-processing method. Each individual element needs very small memory since it has its unique data size. Therefore, this paper aimed to develope the automatic placement/routing system which can automatically place and route the PCB without dissipation of memory at a high speed. To this aim, the auction algorithm method was applied which can make the memories be most rapidly reached from the original point to various destinations. Also, this system was developed by the Visual C++ in the Widows environment of IBM Pentium computer in order to use it in an individual PC system.
In order to estimate the combustion characteristics and the gas interchangeability for natural gas with various compositions per each production area, equivalent gas are using to replace natural gas. It is known that an equivalent gas has the same the heating value, the compression factor, the relative density, CO emission and the burning velocity as the original natural gas. However, it is not reported that the flame shape and thermal efficiency and NOx emission by real gas appliance. In this study, equivalent gas was examined the validation to replace natural gas. The CO emission the burning velocity and the flame temperature were reconfirmed, and the flame shape, the NOx emission and the thermal efficiency were numerically and experimentally investigated. As results, there was not a large difference between natural gas and equivalent gas. This result demonstrated that there was no problem using equivalent gas to replace natural gas.

The behaviour of large school of sardine Sardinops melanosticta in and around the set-net were analyzed from sonar image recordings. The survey was conducted at Kishihata set-net in Japan from January 29th to February 22th 1992. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. When large schools of sardine moved along the outside of the set-net. the shape of the school gradually changed, that was the front part extended forward in the direction of movement and the rear part concentrated in the same direction such that the school retained its original shape. 2. When large school of sardine entered the main-net of the set-net. the school was decentralized directly to the slope-net. to the central part. and to the opposite side, and then the fish school was concentrated as it moved directly to the slope-net. 3. When the size of the front part of the fish school enlarged. the maximum recorded moving speeds were 176cm/sec and 277cm/sec for schools inside and outside the set-net, respectively.
Differential equations and its numerical solution program using Turbo-C were formulated to describe the radical distribution and average displacement amplitude of vibrating dehydrated contact lens(HEMA) driven by sinusoidal or rectangular pressure. The natural resonant frequency of the lens diaphram(thickness 0.08mm, diameter 14mm, curvature radius 8mm) was measured to be 5730 Hz from the extrapolation of frequency vs addedmass to the diaphram curve. The Young's modulus of the lens was measured to be $4{\times}10^9$ Pa with altering the original shape. The effect of parameters such as thickness, effective radius, damping coeff., amplitude of driving pressure on the vibration characteristics was illustrated by the computer simulation of the derived program. When the frequency of driving pressure coincides with the integral multiple of fundamental resonance frequency of the lens the wave pattern changes from arc to bell-shape along the radial position of the diaphram. If this happens to the contact lens on the cornea in vivo, it might create the feel of pull of the lens due to the increased rise of central part of the lens.
Background: Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures. Most Asians desire elevation of their relatively flat nasal dorsum and tip to make them appear more prominent. This study introduces a simple method of nasal tip plasty using three-dimensional (3D)-printed polycaprolactone (PCL) (Smart Ball®), which provides the required length and volume for this purpose and enables the creation of a nasal tip of the desired shape in a safe and simple manner. Methods: Between September 2014 and May 2017, 22 patients participated in a survey to assess postoperative satisfaction levels. Additionally, three plastic surgeons compared patients' pre- and 1-year postoperative photographs to evaluate the results. All patients underwent 2- to 4-year postoperative follow-up. Results: Levels of subjective satisfaction among patients were 3.59, 3.50, 3.82, 3.73, 3.55, and 3.82 for each of the 6 categories evaluated, with a mean of 3.67/4 points, indicating high satisfaction levels. The mean plastic surgeon-reported score for the 22 patients was 4.47/5 points, which also indicates highly successful outcomes. Postoperative nasal tip rotation and tip projection were ideal in most patients. Conclusion: Our novel method using 3D-printed PCL (Smart Ball®) provides the optimal length and volume required for nasal tip plasty and enables the creation of a nasal tip of the desired shape, in a safe and simple manner. An advantage of our method is that it retains the original nasal structure in contrast to structural changes observed with the use of conventional methods.
We investigate an optical technique for beam shaping and optical amplification of a pulsed laser diode without variation of its original properties, such as repetition rate and pulse duration. The horizontal and longitudinal sizes of the pulsed laser diode are 300 and $2{\mu}m$, respectively, and its output power is $1.1mW/cm^2$. The multimodal and elliptical pulse shape of the laser diode is converted to the single-modal and Gaussian pulse shape by using a lensed optical fiber. Since the single-modal lensed fiber coupling from the multimodal pulsed laser diode degrades the output power severely, the output power of the pulsed laser diode is dramatically enhanced by using an optical amplification method based on master oscillated power amplification (MOPA). The pulse qualities of the laser diode are not changed after amplifying the pulse power and the output power was finally measured to be $29mW/cm^2$.

Using a laser sheet beam projector combined with a CCD-Camera, an efficient technique to recognize complex surface of curvature and lane has been demonstrated for the purpose of mobile robot navigation. In general, obstacles of indoor environments in the field of SLIT-RAY plane are captured as segments of an elliptical arc and a line in the camera image. The robot has been capable of moving along around the obstacle in front of it, by recognizing the original shape of each segment with the differential coefficient by means of least squares method. In this technique, the imaged pixels of each segment, particularly elliptical arc, have been converted into a corresponding circular arc in the real-world coordinates so as to make more feasible the image processing for the position and radius measurement than conventional way based on direct elliptical are analyses. Advantages over direct elliptical cases include 1) higher measurement accuracy and shorter processing time because the circular arc process can reduce the shape-specifying parameters, 2) no complicated factor such as the tilt of elliptical arc axis in the image plane, which produces the capability to find column position and radiua regardless of the camera location . These are essentially required for a mobile robot application. This technique yields an accuracy less than 2cm for a 28.5cm radius column located in the range of 70-250cm distance from the robot. The accuracy obtained in this study is sufficient enough to navigate a cleaning robot which operates in indoor environments.
