  • Eumyang-ohaeng[陰陽五行-Eumyang and five phases], as a standing rule that establishes the theory of Oriental medicine and origin of the oriental philosophy, it provides the perspective of the oriental medicine's outlook of the world. Without knowing the Eumyang-ohaeng, we cannot discuss Oriental medicine, nor can we understand the oriental way of thinking. Time and Space is what the human being created in order to explain the existence and change of matters. There is a common denominator between this universal concept of time and space and the theory of Eumyang-ohaeng. Consequently this paper investigates how characteristics of Eumyang-ohaeng and that of time and space matches Eumyang represents all matter and its characteristic, by comparison with each other space, and Ohaeng shows the change of matter with time gradually and sequancely. But this separation is only a separation by words, they really melt into one like two sides of a coin is actually just one coin. After all the theory of Eumyang-ohaeng is a theory that leads us to realize time and space, matter and power are all just one. So consequently, despite the difference in mass or size or longevity of matters, Eumyang-ohaeng pulls all matter into one body. It's why Eumyang-ohaeng is defined as the unified theory of time and space.

  • This thesis aims to provide an analytical basis for existing or new prescriptions based on the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines. To this end, prescriptions presented in the Various Changes in the Dominations of the Six Energies and their Relations with the Diseases of Plain Questions were analyzed based on the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine. This thesis focused on symptoms and prescriptions based on the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines, which were described in the Various Changes in the Dominations of the Six Energies and their Relations with the Diseases of Plain Questions with regard to the year when Taeyang is affecting the earth energy and the cold energy is partially over-abundant. Those symptoms and prescriptions originate from the theory of the five elements and six climates. The symptoms were analyzed from the perspective of physiology. The prescriptions were first analyzed based on the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine. Then, a mix formula of oriental medicines pursuant to those prescriptions was studied. Lastly, established prescriptions, which were in conformity with the above prescriptions, were selected. From the physiological point of view, symptoms with regard to the year when Taeyang is affecting the earth energy and the cold energy is partially over-abundant can be, based on the theory of the five elements and six climates, diagnosed as the symptoms from impaired heart due to excessive cold energy. Established prescriptions pursuant to prescriptions based on the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines can be broken down into the following: Cassia Twig, White Peony and Anemarrhena Decoction (Gyejijakyakjimotang); Rhemannia Bolus with Eight Herbs (Palmijihoanghoan); Back to the Left Pill (Joaguihoan); Bone-Strengthening Pill (Hojamhoan); Major Eum-Replenishing Pill (Daeboeumhoan). Therefore, symptoms of six kinds of weather presented in the Various Changes in the Dominations of the Six Energies and their Relations with the Diseases of Plain Questions can be analyzed from the physiological point of view. As a result, in addition to the methodology that analyzes existing prescriptions within the boundary of the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine, it is expected that a theoretical basis for new prescriptions can be provided by analyzing established prescriptions based on prescriptions from the theory for properties and tastes of Korean oriental herbal medicines.

  • UNGI(運氣) theory is one of the most important theory in Oriental medicine. But it's so difficult to adapt to real medic. Long time ago many Oriental Physicians disscussed this with other physicians, UNGI to Oriental Medicine, and so still now. Remarkably, it is important as a basic theory itself, UNGI exist as a special medic. We can see that in the book of ‘五運六氣韓醫學寶鑑’, ‘運氣演繹方藥篇’ and other such kind of books. The special thing is we can predict each man's disease through the date of his birth. And more, we can make out prescription for each person's health. In addition, by knowing his date of birth, we can calculate his date of pregnancy, and with the same way, we can also predict and prescript that he can be protected from his fateful disease. But, the way like this can make Oriental medic an astrology and a superstition. So I studied on this and concluded as follow, 1. UNGI theory is important in the Oriental Medicine not only in basic but on diagnosis and attendance. 2. Mechanical abuse in the past, make UNGI theory unbelievable. But Liu Ha-gan(劉河間) studied so deeply, and knew the right way to applicate UNGI theory on Oriental medic. 3. It is not logical the pregnant day counted thru birthday, so we have to percept this an abstract idea. And it founded detail way to count the pregnant day. 'UNGI' as a medical system, by knowing his birthday we can predict and prevent his fateful disease. Of course, I cannot find such substances in Neijing, and classic books on Oriental medicine. So queer at a glance, but clinically it has some valuable meanings. However, There's little to prove its foundation. It is similar to astrology, we cannot define its base. The problems we have to trace and find out.

Nutritional therapy in Oriental medicine has done the phase of Bian Zheng by individual characteristics. The theory of Yin-Yang and five elements, Ki-Mi, Sasang Constitution Medicine and Kyi-Kyung were obviously recognized the theory of nutrition therapeutics in Oriental medicine. In Western medicine, dietary treatment supplies individuals with a recipe of calorie and specific nutrients. The Food Exchange System was very convenient way of practice in nutrition therapy. But each of dietary treatment in Oriental and Western nutrition has strong and week points. So we need to study enough materials to treatment of Oriental nutrition and Western nutrition for the improvement of health and chronic diseases therapy.

  • Simpo(心包. Pericardium) was described early in "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)". But there has been a lot of criticisms about this organ. Jinsatak(陳士鐸) is one of famous doctors in Cheong(淸) dynasty. He suggested a creative Oriental medical theory and he did a profound research on Simpo(心包). "Oegyeongmieon(外經微言)" is one of his books recording his oriental medical theory in detail so it is the good documentary record for observing his theory of the Simpo(心包). So we looked into his theory of Simpo(心包) in "Oegyeongmieon(外經微言)" and also referred to his other books. You might be able to get a viewpoint of utilizing Simpo(心包) in several ways through reading this paper.

  • As above, it described Dr.Tanaka's Spiral Balance Theory and studied the theoretical background and the special meridian circulation system, diagnostics and treatments. Though the considered the rule of the tenseness of the body as muscle movement theory, it corresponds with tradtional meridians theory in oriental medicine. If we study and develop the traditional meridians circulaition system more, we can expect clinical development applying to any theories in the field of oriential medicine such as acupuncture therapy, moxa therapy and chiropractc therapy. etc, as well as tapaing therapy, electronic stimulation therapy and exercising therapy.

  • The most fundamental and important medical treatment is science of acupuncture and moxibution, which is based on twelve channels theory. Meridian is a pathway that conveys material and energy in a human body. Twelve channels are divided into channels of hand & foot, channels of yin & yang. Yang channels are divided into taiyang, yangming, shaoyang, yin channels are divided into taiyin, shaoyin, jueyin. These are referred to twelve channels, and this theory is being used for diagnosis and test in oriental medicine. Meridian-doin-tajiquan is born, combining taijiquan which is recently handed down from China and Korean traditional method for health protection and treatment in ancient times and twelve channels, three yin & yang theory. I report this because meridian-doin-tajiquan which is non-medical and non-invasive way can be used in the treatment of disease, just like three yin & yang theory, the heart of the meridian theory, and Gehapchu theory are adjusted in the clinical science of acupuncture and moxibution. And I report this because I could mater the appropriateness of the traditional theory and I believed this corresponded with it, training myself by meridian-din-tajiquan. It is considered that this will be used in the treatment of pain disease of muscles and joints system and the diabetes, hypertension, obesity caused by stress in the near future.
