  • The study relates to achievement and analysis of 3-dimensional spatial pulse wave archived by a spatially arterial pulse diagnostic apparatus (SAPDA), wherein a pulse sensing part array consists of multiple hall devices and is located over a skin contacting part which consists of a magnetic material. When a radially arterial pulse is transferred to the magnetic material, which is contacted skin that results in changes in a magnetic field of the lower part of the pulse sensing part array, the changes in a magnetic field can be detected by the commercial Hall semiconductor device of the pulse sensing part array. Finally, according to development of SAPDA, the 3-dimensionally arterial pulse waveform can be measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field.

  • This study aims to develop a system for diagnosing pulse and disease conditions based on oriental medical classics to collect objective quantitative information in the traditional pulse examination environment that uses fingers. For this purpose, the study suggested a thimble-type sensor unit as the most appropriate pulse analyzer and proposed a traditional method to measure the pulse pressure wave on the spots of cheok, gwan and chon by installing the pulse analyzer on the forefinger, middle finger and medical finger. Then, it was interpretively found that this pulse analyzer enables us to objectively recognize 28 pulses defined in Oriental medical classics including the yukjo pulse, described as the buchimjisak-heosil pulse, and the hong, yoo, hyeok and san pulses. Finally, the study proposed a method to extract key parameters essential to pulse condition diagnosis from the pulse pressure wave measured by this pulse analyzer.

  • Objective : The quantification of pulse diagnosis is an important subject utilizing as a modernization of Oriental medical diagnosis and as a basic data for collaborative access between East and West Medicine. This study was to observe the tendency of pulse diagnosis in atopic dermatitis patients as measured by pulse diagnostic apparatus. Methods : We did pulse diagnostic test about 11 new outpatients who had visited the department of ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology in Kyunghee oriental medical center from March 1, 2007 to October 31, 2007 and had atopic dermatitis. Results : The results were as follows. 1. Among the 11 outpatients, the total number of male patients were 5 and female patients were 6, and the age distribution, the most frequently visited age groups were 10-19 years old and 20-29 years old(each 4 patients). 2. The most common period of onset to first examination were 3 years${\leq}$ (7 patients). 3. There were 8 patients who had emphasized T-wave. 4. There were 7 patients who had repeated pulse wave pattern. Conclusion : In 11 cases who had atopic dermatitis, 8 patients had emphasized T-wave and 7 patients had repeated pulse wave pattern.

  • The electric signals for the voltage as a function of distance between Hall devices and permanent magnets over the radial artery were investigated. The electric sgnals, that means signals of arterial pulse wave, were differentiated by the hardware of circuits and then were changed to differential signals as magnetic field. The 3-D images simulated by the software as function fo the intensity of differential signals were achieved. It shows that these system can apply to pulse diagnostic apparatus of porthble type medical instrument.

  • To get the spatial feature of arterial pulse, we designed spatial pulse diagnostic apparatus (SPDA) using a 2-dimensional magnetoresistive sensor array. The magnetic field distribution fur magnet may was simulated using finite element method. We recognized that the field distribution of parallel magnet mays was more sensitive and uniformed than that of perpendicular one. Also the spatial displacements of magnet array were agreed with the output signal of magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) sensor array.

  • Recently, there are deep and much concerns about the objective assessment of diagnosis in Oriental Medicine. Among them, pulse diagnostics is used for the quantitative device of diagnosis. The objective research of pulse diagnosis were mainly conducted by pulse wave. So it is important to gain multi-information for the quantification of pulse diagnosis. We report the development of pulse diagnostic apparatus enable to gain the multi-information, detect the pressure pulse wave in conku(寸口) area and obtain the gradient curve and original pulse wave simultaneously, and consider the pulse wave with the traditional pulse diagnosis at the same time.

  • A wrist wearable cuffless pulsimeter with a portable and small size apparatus using Hall effect is fabricated. The analysis of the pulse wave measured by the testing product of pulsimeter is done to measure the pulse rate and blood pressure. The blood pressure obtained by the puslimeter is compared with the practical values measured by electronic or mercury liquid blood pressure meters. The detail analysis of a pulse wave measured by a wrist wearable cuffless pulsimeter detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of blood pressure applying for oriental medical apparatus.

  • This study investigated the radial pulse waveform obtained by a medical pulsimeter sensor. A pulse-sensing part array consisting of multiple Hall devices was located over a skin-contacting part with a hard magnetic material. The periodic movement of the magnetic material of the skin-contacting part affected the magnetic field in the pulse-sensing part array and was detected by multiple Hall devices. The analysis of a radial pulse waveform that is measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of oriental medical apparatus.

  • In order to get the precise blood pressure and pulse number in the cuffless status, the wrist wearable pulsimeter with a portable and small size apparatus using by Hall device is developed. The regression analysis of the pulse wave measured by the testing product of pulsimeter is conducted two equations of the blood pressure algorithm. The estimated values of blood pressure obtained by the cuffless pulsimeter during 5 s are compared with the practical values measured by electronic or mercury liquid blood pressure meters. The standard deviation of the estimated value and the practical value for the high blood pressure and the low blood pressure were 12.1 and 5.9, respectively, which have the neighborhood values of BP International Standard. The detail analysis of a pulse wave measured by cuffless wrist wearable detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of blood pressure applying for oriental medical apparatus like as the wrist wearable pulsimeter.

  • Background & Object: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of degree of fatigue and gastric motility, measured by EGG, with skin sympathetic tone or cardiovascular reactivity in patients with functional dyspepsia. Methods: Subjects were 56 patients with Functional dyspepsia and eight healthy people. Degree of fatigue was assessed by questionnaires consisting of subjective complaints of fatigue. Skin sympathetic tone was measured by Ryodoraku Score and Cardiovascular Reactivity was checked by Pulse diagnostic apparatus. Gastric motility was estimated by EGG. First, all patients were divided into two groups by Ryodoraku Score $40{\mu}A$(below and above). Second, they were subdivided into two groups by Cardiovascular Reactivity(decreased and increased or not decreased). Estimates were made on the extent differences of degree of fatigue or state of gastric motility in each group. Results: 1. Fatigue scores was significantly higher in females and in the Ryodoraku-Score-below-$40{\mu}A$ group. It was higher in the decreased cardiovascular reactivity group than the increased group, but to no significanct extent. Also, gastric motility was better in the Ryodoraku-Score-above-$40{\mu}A$, group than in the below group. Conclusions: These results suggest that degree of fatigue and gastric motility are associated with skin sympathetic tone, but not associated with cardiovascular reactivity, and that $40{\mu}A$ is a useful cutoff point in Ryodoraku Score for assessing degree of fatigue in functional dyspepsia patients.
