  • "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)" is published in 1613 in Joseon(朝鮮) Dynasty, and reprinted many times in Korea, China and Japan. After publication of Donguibogam, Donguibogam became a base of Korean Medical development. Until now, Korean Oriental medical doctors make the most use of Donguibogam in clinical medicine. Donguibogam Sinhyeongjangbudo(身形藏府圖) represents Heojun(許浚)'s medical view, but there were not enough research about it. In oriental medical development, Taoism and Medicine interact each other and develop into higher grade. We searched Taoistic human body figures and medical ones which appeared before Donguibogam. We compared Donguibogam Sinhyeongjangbudo(身形藏府圖) with other figures and revealed the special features of it. Donguibogam Sinhyeongjangbudo is one of medical human body figures, but it has Taoistic features. Heojun(許浚) located Sinhyeongjangbudo at the opening of Donguibogam, and represented his medical point of view. Heojun laid emphasis on Taoistic training more than medical care in Donguibogam, and this thought is expressed in introduction of Donguibogam. Donguibogam Sinhyeongjangbudo shows Heojun(許浚)'s exact view.

  • In spite of the development of scientific and medical technology, the rate of prevalence and death of the chronic disease gets higher. Therefore people come to know prevention is more important than treatment in disease. In Western, it is nearly after 1970's when it is revealed that the major factor of chronic disease comes from habitual behaviors in everyday life. But that is common idea in Oriental Medicine since thousand years. In Oriental Medicine, the main cause of disease is composed of natural factor including climate condition, living-life factor, psycho-social factor, constitutional factor, inbody-pathologic-substance factor, and other factors including habits of using drug and medical service, injury, environmental pollutions, and occupational etiologic factors. Among these, the major factors of disease in modern society are lifestyle factors like the tendency of choosing and intaking food, the level of physical activity and labor, smoking and drinking alcohol, psychological tendency, the habits of using drug and medical service and so on. This is a practical aspect of oriental medicine where the most important etiologic factor comes from human behaviors, not from external factors like germ or virus. So that etiology in Oriental Medicine where improvement in the way of life is needed to prevent disease would play an important role in modern society.

  • Music is composed according to time flow. In case of music therapy, it is the most important thing and this properties must be emphasized in operation, also act as one of the most important elements that increase the effect of medical treatment. Especially in the case of Oriental Medical music therapy, we must consider the change of time and space, so determine the direction and methods of treatment. In order to compose the music therapy process according to time flow[plot composition], first we have to analyze the musical and literary works that have step-by-step composition. Next we must consider how Gi(氣) changes occur in the base of principle of Eumyang(陰陽) and Ohaeng(五行). When the rule of composition as time flow is grafted onto Oriental Medical music therapy, native characteristics of music would have significance.

Much research has been done on "Geumgweyoryaksimjeon" and "Shanghangwanjujip", but "Uihakdokseogi" has seen relatively little interest. This study aims to translate the first volume of "Uihakdokseogi" and compare the work with other literature in order to gain a better understanding of Ujaegyeong(尤在涇)'s medical theories and to review the viability of the said theories in practice. • Zhang-nan(樟南) did not regarded the human's life phenomena as a simple physical change in his medical theory. He thought medicine in the light of the establishment of moralism and partly used it for the practical Confucianism as well. In view of the Chijunghwa(致中和), Zhang-nan(樟南) succeeded the tradition of the Simseongnon(心性論, Emotional naturalism) in Neo-Confucianism(性理學) in the point of essential and principal Junghwa(中和). Therefore, Zhang-nan(樟南)'s medical theory is very suggestive not only in Medicine but also in Liberal art which pursue the moral Seongmyeong(性命).
