  • Purpose - Because creativity, which is an intangible resource embedded within the company, can offer a competitive advantage, most companies have an interest in promoting creativity among their employees and division(e.g., marketing organization). Creativity renders a sustainable competitive advantage to a firm because it is a strategic resource that is valuable, flexible, rare, and imperfectly imitable or substitutable. Although most companies broadly recognize the importance of creativity, the methods for developing creativity remain elusive. Therefore, the present study investigates how to structure incentives to motivate employees to be more creative and how to develop tools to facilitate creativity. In detail, the present study aimed to examine the relationship between the regulatory focus of marketing organizations(e.g., promotion focus vs prevention focus) and creativity of marketing organizations. In addition, the present study set out to examine the moderating role of interaction of financial reward and creative training in addition to investigating the direct relationship between creativity and regulatory focus in New Product Development(NPD) context. Research design, data, and methodology - The data used to test the hypotheses are drawn from a survey of full time NPD project members(including project manager, designer, engineer, and marketer). The present study utilized data obtained mainly from a database compiled by the Korea Investors Service-Financial Analysis System which provides comprehensive corporate and financial information on firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. A study population comprising 1,000 South Korean firms was obtained from this database. We selected 864 firms from the database, and the firms have experiences of new product development project. We collected a total of 162 responses, for a 18.8% response rate. After we excluded 14 questionnaire because of incomplete responses, a total of 148 questionnaire remained(final response rate: 17.1%).     The moderating effect of joint influences(interaction between financial rewards and creativity training) on the relationship between prevention focus creativity of marketing organization). SPSS 18.0 and AMOS software were used in the data analysis. Results - The empirical study confirmed that promotion focus of marketing organization is positively related to creativity of marketing organization. Also, prevention focus of marketing organization is positively affected to creativity of marketing organization. In addition, the interaction between financial rewards and creativity training moderated the relationship between regularity focus(e.g.), promotion focus vs prevention focus) and creativity of marketing organization. These results suggest that managers can improve the performances of their creative efforts by providing the use of financial rewards and creativity training in combination. Conclusion - Based on results of this study that examine the effects of regulatory focused creative efforts on creativity of marketing organization, promotion focus is helpful with marketing organizations to enhance their service innovation and performance. Prevention focused organization should allow monetary rewards and creativity training to increase their creativity for innovation of new products.

  • 최근 급속한 기술 환경의 변화와 글로벌 경쟁 하에서 조직의 핵심역량으로 창의성에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 특히 창의성은 기술혁신의 시작이며 성공으로 이끄는 가장 중요한 동인이다. 복잡한 창의성이 도출되기 위해서는 창의성에 대한 체계적인 이해가 필요하다. 그러나 기존연구는 창의성에 대한 한두 가지 요인들의 관련성만 다루고 있어 전체적인 관련성을 파악하기가 힘들었으며 창의성을 측정할 수 있는 객관적인 도구도 부족한 설정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 창의성을 각 수준에서 분석하고 이를 통합적으로 측정할 수 있는 요소를 규명한다. 구체적으로 첫째, 창의성을 구성하는 3가지 수준을 제시한다. 둘째, 각 수준별 창의성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하고, 이를 측정할 수 있는 지표를 개발한다. 본 연구에서 제시된 조직의 창의성 수준 평가모델은 현재 수준에서 조직의 창의적 역량과 잠재력을 평가하고 이를 증진시키기 위한 가이드라인을 제공할 수 있다.

서번트 리더십이 조직 구성원의 지식공유와 창의성에 미치는 영향: 정서적 몰입의 매개효과 (A Study on the Influence of Servant Leadership on Followers' Knowledge Sharing and Creativity through Affective Commitment)

  • This study empirically investigated the relationships between servant leadership and key variables (knowledge sharing and individual creativity), and the mediating effect of affective commitment with the survey of 213 Korean employees. Based on the sample of 213 employees, the empirical results are as followings; (1) Servant leadership is positively related to affective commitment, knowledge sharing, and creativity. (2) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and knowledge sharing. (3) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and creativity. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the servant leader and members with the affective commitment may be best qualified for knowledge sharing and creative performance. When employees recognize that their managers follow the characteristics of servant leadership, then the employees are more likely to absorb in their task, which increases creative performance and knowledge accumulation. Based on the results, this study suggests an ample implication for leaders in any organization to boost their relationships with followers and to enhance their knowledge sharing and creative idea for the growth of organization.

  • The future society is forcasted the creativity society. The employee creativity and the leadership are more important than any other factor of the organization. This research would review the antecedent study of the superordinate leadership and the employee creativity. The major purpose of this study are theorically and empirically to identify the relationship between the superordinate leadership and the employee creativity. However, this would suggest the direction of the employee creativity development for both the management and the scholars.

The role of positive affect in virtual collaboration: a transactive memory system perspective

  • Creative performance has been regarded as the key to the success of an organization in recent years, and is considered essential for the survival of an organization. Organizations must find and develop creative solutions to deal with a variety of business issues. How can organizations become more creative? To develop creativity, organizations must make it easier to connect the knowledge and perspectives of its various members, who may be scattered around the world, by developing a virtual team. Drawing from the transactive memory systems (TMS), which include expertise location, credibility, and coordination, this study investigates how the positive affect of team members influences the development of creative performance during virtual collaboration where face-to-face team activities are limited. The proposed structured model was empirically tested with cross-sectional data from 322 individuals. Results indicated that the positive affect of team members was found to moderate the relationship between TMS and creativity. Through this study, we expect to provide an understanding of the mechanisms involved in developing creativity among team members in a virtual work environment.

  • Purpose - This study examined the relationship between individual creativity and its related variables to observe how individual creativity contributes to organizational performance. In addition, this study strived to explore how to maximize the utilization of individual creativity and innovate the structure of the organization itself so that teams and organizations can respond more effectively to new rising trends. this study aimed to examine whether the value congruence between individuals and organizations (propensity congruence, goal congruence has a significant impact on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior as dependent variables by exerting individual creativity and synergy as independent variables. Research design, data and methodology - SPSS 24.0 program were used to analyze the data. Descriptive Statistics and correlation analysis were performed, and the reliability factor (Cronbach's α) was calculated. Afterwards, we analyzed the moderating effects of structural equation model analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The number of samples used in the study were 309 copies. Results - First, Individual creativity had a positive effect on knowledge sharing and innovative behavior. In other words, it was confirmed that decision-making processes fused with individual creativity could create an atmosphere of knowledge sharing and transform the organization. Second, value congruence adjusted the influence of individual creativity on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior. Conclusions - First, it is important for managers to recognize the value and secure the pool of creative talents who will be a potential future basic source of organizational success and competitive advantage. Second, managers should be able to identify those with creative talents and expertise, and use them to increase their knowledge sharing performance, while also developing emotional and motivational creativity. Third, in order improve knowledge sharing performance, managers should pay attention to the emotional aspect of creativity. Fourth, managers should strive to create an environment that is beneficial for the reinforcement of individual self-management capabilities. Fifth, managers should be able to develop decision-making processes to develop potential creativity and encourage creative thinking, opinions, or solutions. Sixth, managers should promote the dissemination and integration of new knowledge based on the creative views and attitudes of team members.

공공연구조직의 창의성 수준과 연구성과 간 관계 (Relationship between Creativity and Performance in Government-funded Research Institute)

  • The objective of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between creativity and performance in 10 government- funded research institutes of industrial science and technology. In order to analyze the relationship, the institutes are categorized into the high performance group and the low performance group based on research paper and patents The study uses discriminant analysis to identify the factors causing the difference between the two groups. The results show that there is no significant difference of individual creativity between the two groups whereas there is significant difference of group creativity and organization creativity. The study suggests that performance of government-funded research institutes depends on group and organizational creativity.

  • 본 연구는 조직에서 창의성이 향상되는 기제에 관한 연구로서 리더-부하 교환관계(LMX)가 창의성에 미치는 영향에서 관계에너지와 창의과정몰입의 연속다중매개역할을 검증하고자 하였다. 가설 검증을 위해 중국에서 근무하고 있는 200명의 직장인을 대상으로 하여 설문조사를 실시하였고, 그 중 유효한 154명의 자료를 분석하였다. 분석은 PROCESS 매크로의 model 6을 사용하였다. 분석 결과는 첫째, LMX는 창의성에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 관계에너지는 LMX와 창의성 간의 관계를 매개하였다. 셋째, 창의과정몰입은 LMX와 창의성 간의 관계를 매개하였다. 넷째, 관계에너지와 창의과정몰입은 LMX와 창의성 간의 관계를 연속으로 매개하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 본 연구의 시사점과 한계점을 제시하고 조직에서 창의성을 향상시키기 위한 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

공과대학 학생들의 창의성교육에 관한 인식 (College of Engineering Students' Perception on Creativity Education)

  • There have been various educational approaches to foster students' creativity in engineering colleges, but little has been conducted based on empirical study results of students' perception on creativity education. This study aims to explore the students' perception on creativity in engineering such as characteristics of creative engineers, the level of individual or group creativity and creative education in engineering colleges. According to the survey results of 538 respondents, engineering students considered three factors such as 'innovative driven', 'eager for high intellectuality', 'activity expression' as characteristics of creative engineer. They evaluated both of individual or group creativity levels as subnormal. They perceived the importance of creativity education, but were not satisfied with current creativity educational experiences. They pointed out 'limited supports of nation or organization', 'credit system decided by the paper-based exam', 'non-systematized creativity classes' as impending factors for creativity in engineering education. Students suggested 'securing the budget for practice and field participation', 'changing of perception on creativity education itself', 'developing the creativity classes combined with engineering subjects' as fostering factors in creativity education. This studdy suggests several implications of educational approaches to creativity education in engineering colleges.

조직 구성원의 커뮤니케이션 만족이 인적자원의 집단 창의성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Relations Between Communication Satisfaction and Group Creativity in Organization)

  • The main purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between communication satisfaction and group creativity. To achieve this purpose, this study has two objectives. First, I will identify the relationship between the satisfaction of communication and idea creation. Second, the relationship between communication satisfaction and problem solving activity will be statistically tested. The major findings of the study can be summarized as follows: First, Statistically significant positive relations were found between the communication satisfaction and idea creation. Especially, sub-construct for supervisor communication$({\beta}=0.14,\;p<.05)$, quality of media$({\beta}=0.13,\;p<.05)$, individual feedback$({\beta}=0.36,\;p<.001)$, organizational prospect$({\beta}0.31,\;p<.001)$ showed the statistically significant positive(+) relationship with construct in idea creation. Second, the measurement of communication satisfaction had showed statistically significant relationship with the problem solving activity. Especially, communication with supervisor$({\beta}=0.21,\;p<.05)$, quality of media$({\beta}=0.21,\;p<.001)$, organizational prospects$({\beta}=0.22,\;p<.001)$, and communication with subordinate$({\beta}=0.37,\;p<.001)$ showed the significant positive(+) relationship with problem solving activity construct. These consequences suggest that communication satisfaction of employee is effective in the improving the group creativity in organization. In the conclusion, this study present the satisfaction factor of employee communication as a incremental factor of group creativity.
