  • Reversed micelles (RMs) are nanometer-scale molecular assemblies in organic media. Their surface films (membranes) are composed of surfactant molecules normally holding two hydrocarbon hydrophobic chains. Di-2-ethylhexyl sulfosuccinate (AOT), which is a negatively charged molecule, is most popular surfactant utilized to form reversed micelles.(omitted)

  • These experiment were conducted to study the effects of various nitrogen sources and inorganic salts upon the growth of Saccharomyces rouxii T-9, and the results obtained were as follows: 1) The strain showed the most rapid growth in the case of 2.5 to 5.0% addition of peptone as an organic nitrogen source, and 1.0% addition of $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ as an inorganic nitrogen source respectively to the media containing no NaCl. 2) Its growth was the most rapid in the case of 1.5% addition of yeast extracts as an organic nitrogen sources, and 5% addition of urea as an inorganic nitrogen source respectively to the media containing 20% of NaCl. 3) Its growth was the most rapid in the case of 1% addition of $NaNO_3$ as an inorganic salt to the media containing no NaCl, while to the media containing 20% or 26% of NaCl its growth was more rapid in the case of 5% addition of $NaNO_3$ than 1% addition. 4) Its growth was more rapid in the case of 0.5% addition of $MgSO_4\;and\;CaCl_2$ respectively to the media containing 20% of NaCl than to the media containing no NaCl, and was rapid in the case of 1% addition of $MgCl_2$ to the media containing 26% of NaCl.

  • Ionic liquids are alternative reaction media of increasing interest and are regarded as an eco-friendly alternatives, of potential use in place of the volatile organic solvents typically used in current chemical processing methods. They are emerging as the smart and excellent solvents, which are made of positive and negative ions that they are liquids near room temperature. The nucleophilic substitution reaction is one of the important method for inserting functional groups into a carbon skeleton. Many nucleophilic substitution reactions have been found with enhanced reactivity and selectivity in ionic liquid. In this review, some recent interesting results of nucleophilic substitution reactions such as hydroxylations, ether cleavages, carbon-X (X= carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, fluorine) bond forming reactions, and ring opening of epoxides in ionic liquids are discussed.

  • In this work electrochemical oxidation of Ascorbic acid (AA) on the surface of Cobalt nano particle modified carbon paste electrode (CoNPsMCPE) was studied in alkaline media. CoNPs were green synthesized using Piper longum and a mixture of 5% (w/w) of it were made with carbon paste. CoNPs showed good electrocatalytic activity in alkaline media. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) were used to study the electrochemical performance of CoNPsMCPE. The number of monolayers on the surface of electrode was calculated as 1.08×109 mol cm−2 that is equal to that of metal Cobalt electrode. Diffusion coefficient of AA was determined using CA analysis which was equal to 1.5×10−6cm2 s−1.

  • The lethal actions in Arabidopsis thaliana and Lemna polyrhiza brought about by certain inorganic form of Mn, Ba, Hg, Cu salts, and organic form of Na salts, were studied with aseptic artificial media. These metal ions at certain concentrations caused lethality of either Arabidopsis or Lemna when the media were without Ca ion. On the contrary, addition of Ca to the media protected the organisms from such lethality. It was postulated for the present from the proceeding evidence that Ca adsorbed and distributed along the sites between the plasma and cell membrane acts for suppressing permeation of toxic level of metal ions causing the lethality of these plants.

  • In this study, the of MBBR(moving bed biofilm reactor) process for Phosphorus Removal efficiency depending on seasons and the factors affecting phosphorus removal efficiency in the process is evaluated. As a result of experiment, T-P removal efficiency has its highest value in winter, (80.8%). and T-P removal efficiency has its lowest value in autumn, (49%). Optimum SRT for Phosphorus Removal revealed is about 8.8 days and process performs more efficiently as the temperature decreases. It is accepted that nitrate to anaerobic zone is affecting the Phosphorus removal process. With increasing the organic loading rate, Phosphorus removal efficiency also increases. Also, an experiment has been conducted to find out the highest efficiency according to Media existence and it has revealed that Media addition provides better phosphate removal.

  • [ $TiO_2$ ] nanoparticles are added into UV curable resin to increase the refractive index of the cover-layer which is laminated on the media for cover-layer incident NFR. High refractive index is required for the cover-layer operating for the solid immersion lens optics with high effective numerical aperture. The eyepattern could be achieved from the cover-layer coated 20 GB ROM disc in which the refractive index of the cover-layer was 1.75, but the gap servo was unstable due to the rough surface of the cover-layer. Even though the light loss due to the nanoparticles is not serious, the rough microstructure is developed by adding the nanoparticles in the organic binder material. To achieve smooth surface for the stable gap servo, some special techniques should be added, for example the solubility of the nanoparticles should be enhanced by the optimization of the surface of the nanoparticles.
