This study was carried out to investigate variation of heavy metal contents for feed materials during composting and to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment methods on heavy metal analysis. Dry ashing, $HNO_3-HClO_4$, aqua-regia, HCl reflux, $HNO_3-HClO_4-HF$, autoclaving methods of $HNO_3$, HCl, and $HNO_3(2+1)$ were used as pre-treatment for heavy metal analysis. In analyzing standard material SRM 2781, recovery efficiencies of pre-treatment methods were 50-60% for Cr and Zn, >100% for Ni, and 80-90% for Cd and Cu. Recovery efficiency of dry ashing for SRM 2781 was the lowest. In composting raw material, Cd concentration by autoclaving methods was 3 to 4 times higher than the other methods and recovery efficiency of dry ashing was also the lowest. During composting, Cd content was the highest in autoclaving. Cr and Cu concentrations were the lowest in dry ashing and aqua-regia, respectively. Variation coefficients of Pb and Zn between pre-treatment methods were generally low.
Three strains of common carp, i. e. , Israeli carp, red-and-white, and golden strains, were stocked in the same pond, and their growth rates were compared with following results: From August 12 to November 21 in 1975, fingerlings of the three strains of common carp, Cyprinus carpo, each weighing about 0.5 g with total length of 2 to 3 cm, were stocked. The pond had an area of $316m^2$ with a mean water depth of 55cm, and the bottom was covered with a 20 to 30 cm thick layer of silt containing a considerable amount of decaying organic materials. Feed given was prepared with equal amounts of fish meal and polished barley, of which, in addition, $10\%$ green grass and $1\%$ table salt were mixed together when prepared into paste feed using a chopper after boiling the barley. Total protein content of the feed was $34.9\%$ in dry state with $5\%$ moisture content. Total feed given was 30.08 kg calculated in dry state to produce 20.588 kg of the common carp fingerlings, thus the feed coefficient being 1.51. By strains, the harvested Israeli carp ranged 98 to 311g each with a mean weight of $172.69g(100\%)$, red-and-white strain 15 to 318g with mean of $104.1g(60.3\%)$, and the golden strain 30 to 268g with mean of $128.7g(74.6\%)$. During the rearing season mean water temperature was $23.9^{\circ}C$ and the assumed main growth period with the water temperature above $15^{\circ}C$ was, upto the end of October, for 80 days with a mean water temperature of $23.9^{\circ}C$. Taking this main growth period as the basis for growth rate analysis, the mean daily increments, expressed as the attained body weight in times of the starting weight, become 1.075786 times (or the Israeli strain, 1.06901 times for the red-and-white strain, and 1.07185 times for the golden strain.

This study was carried out to evaluate effects of either organic or inorganic sources of both chromium and copper on growth performances, nutrients digestibility and fecal Cr, Cu, and Zn excretion in growing pigs. A total of 36 growing pigs((Landrace×Yorkshire)×Duroc, weighing 61.2kg in average) were allotted to 4 treatments with 3 replicates and 3 pigs per replicate. Four treatments were designated by supplemental sources of both chromium and copper as follows: ①200ppb Cr as Cr-methionine chelate(CrMet) and 200ppm Cuas copper methionine chelate(CuMet), ②200ppb Cr as CrMet and 200ppm Cu as copper sulfate(CuSO4), ③200ppb Cr as chromium chloride(CrCl3) and 200ppm Cu as CuMet, ④200ppb Cr as CrCl3 and 200ppm Cu as CuSO4. Growth performance was highest(p<0.05) in CrMet and CuMet supplemented diet treatment. Nutrients digestibility of diets was lowest(p<0.05) in CrMet and CuSO4 supplemented diet treatment, and highest(p<0.05) in CrMet and CuMet supplemented diet treatment. Fecal copper, zinc and chromium excretion was highest(p<0.05) in CrCl3 and CuSO4 supplementation treatment and lowest(p<0.05) in CrMet and CuMet supplementation treatment. This study showed a relatively high degree of utilization of Cr and Cu as well as Zn by supplementation of CrMet and CuMet compared with those of the inorganic sources.

Excessive input of organic matters from fish cage farming has been considered as one of the major factors disturbing benthic ecosystem, especially in semi-enclosed coastal waters. Recently offshore aquaculture in the vicinity of Jeju-do has been introduced to minimize that kind of negative impact. This study was conducted to investigate the ecological impacts of offshore aquaculture on the macrobenthic polychaete communities. A total of ten sampling works were carried out for 28 months, spanning from 10 days after starting giving feed to 3 months after stopping giving feed. During the study period, mean current velocity was quite strong with the range of 50 cm/s to 70 cm/s. TOC of surface sediment was constantly low. Significant changes in polychaete community were detected just three months after starting giving feed, which were the increase of the number of species and density at all stations. Up to 18 months after the start of farming, the amount of feed provided played an important role in the fluctuation of the number of species and density, especially at 0 m and 10 m stations. After reducing the amount of feed provided, dominance of some opportunistic species within 10 m distance from fish cages still lasted to the end of aquaculture. However, opportunistic species disappeared 3 months after the end of farming, which indicated the sign of recovery from the disturbance. From these results, the amount of food input and the period of cultivation were critical factors disturbing polychaete community and ensuing changes in this offshore and oligotrophic waters as well. In addition, study on the changes of polychaete community structure before and after fish farming showed more detailed changes in benthic ecological state than geochemical approach did.

Triticale forage has the highest yield of all winter forage crops, including rye, and a cold tolerance within an average low temperature of -10℃ in January. Therefore, this study analyzed the effects of sowing and harvesting times on the feed value and functional components of triticale to optimize the use and supply of triticale as livestock fee Room temperature' can vary widely with climate, season, and time of day. In order to clearly state the conditions of the study in a manner that facilitates replication by other researchers, please consider using an approximate temperature range instead. Seeds of the triticale 'Joseong' were sown during the fall of 2021 (October 20th) and spring of 2022 (March 7th). The triticale was harvested at the following growth stages: seedling stage, booting stage, heading stage, 10 days after heading, and 20 days after heading. The moisture content of each harvested triticale was adjusted to approximately 60%, and the triticale was fermented for silage for 40 days at ambient temperature under anaerobic conditions. We measured the pH and organic acid content of each silage to determine the feed value and functional component. The lactic acid content of the triticale silage harvested at the seedling stage sown in both fall and spring (1.61%, 1.63%) was the highest among all the silages. The octacosanol content in the silages of both fall-sown and spring-sown triticale harvested at the seedling stage (0.38, 0.27 mg/ml) was the highest. Overall, the results revealed that harvesting time had a greater impact on the feed value and functional components of triticale silage than sowing time.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of oriental herb extracts (Alpha $Plus^{(R)}$ (AP)+Dried Foxglove Powder (DFP)) on growth performance and proliferation of splenocytes in broiler chicken raised under low or high density stocking conditions. A total of 240 male broiler chicks were randomly divided into four treatment groups with three replicates composed of ten birds in low density stocking groups and thirty birds in high density stocking groups. The four treatment groups were as follows: Cl (low density without AP and DFP); T1 (low density with AP 0.2% and DFP 0.03%); C2 (high density without AP and DFP); T2 (high density with AP 0.2% and DFP 0.03%). The feed intake of the high density stocking group was significantly lower than that of low density stocking groups during overall experimental period (p<0.05). The body weight of high density stocking groups was lower than that of low density stocking groups (p<0.05). The decrease of feed intake and body weight gain in growing stage (7~25day) under the high density stocking condition seems to be recovered in final stage (26~34day). Meanwhile dietary supplementation of AP+DFP in low and high density stocking groups tended to have higher daily body weight gain than control groups. The proliferation of splenocytes in treatment groups was significantly higher than control groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, the result of the present study suggested that the oriental herb extracts (AP+DFP) could be used as an alternative feed additive resources to improve growth performance and immune activity in broiler chickens.

This study examined the effects of feeding whole-crop barley silage (BS), corn silage (CS) and the mixture of BS and CS (CB) on feed consumption, daily gain, nutrients apparent digestibilities and blood parameters in order to investigate the feed evaluation in Korean black goats. BS, CS, and CB were fed to twelve Korean black goats, which were allocated into three groups in metabolic cages according to the latin-square design. As a result, dry and organic matter intakes for goats per day have shown a tendency to decrease in the order of CS, CB and BS, but there were no significant differences. We also found a similar tendency when the intakes of crude protein, crude fat, and non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC) were examined. However, ADF and NDF consumptions showed a decreasing tendency in the order of CB, BS and CS. Dry matter intakes per metabolic body weight showed the decreasing tendency in the order of CS (57.6g), CB (53.8g) and BS (52.7g), however with no statistical differences. Average daily gain of 64.2 g in CB was significantly higher than the other groups (42.0g to 46.0g). Nitrogen intakes and nitrogen retention showed a decreasing tendency in the order of CS, CB and BC. Nevertheless, nitrogen retention in CS group was higher by 30% than that of the BC group with p<0.05. Apparant digestibilities of dry and organic matters were 72.6 and 72.8% for the CS group respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the BS group (67.5 and 69.0%) and the CB group (66.0 and 67.1%). In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrated that the CS group showed more positive feed consumption, digestibility, and nitrogen retention in Korean black goats than those of BS group. The CB group, however, showed similar results to the results of the CS group.

This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of organic fertilizer and seed mixture on productivity, botanical composition and forage quality in middle areas(Geumsan, 250m sea level) pasture. Total six experimental pastures (orchardgrass, timothy and tall fescue based seed mixture and with or without organic fertilizer) were established in autumn, 2014 and evaluated productivity and agronomic characteristics from 2015 to 2016. Plant heigh was higher in orchardgrass based mixture and orchardgrass and tall fescue based mixture were higher in $2^{nd}$ harvest. There was not found the significant difference among treatment(P<0.05) in dry matter (DM) content. Botanical composition in $1^{st}$ harvest was higher weed portion in orchardgrass based mixture and legumes was disappeared at $3^{rd}$ harvest in all treatments. Fresh and dry matter yield was higher in $2^{nd}$ year than $1^{st}$ year. In $1^{st}$ year, orchardgrass based mixture with organic fertilizer plot was the highest(P<0.05) DM yield, but tall fescue based mixture with organic fertilizer was the highest in $2^{nd}$ year. Content of crude protein (CP) was the highest in tall fescue based mixture and Timothy based mixture showed low in ADF (acid detergent fiber) and NDF (neutral detergent fiber) content. But the content if in virto dry matter digestibility was higher than others. In $2^{nd}$ year, the nutritive value of $2^{nd}$ and $4^{th}$ harvested grasses were higher and average RFV (relative feed value) value was the highest at $4^{th}$ harvest. According to this result, orchardgrass and tall fescue based mixture would be recommendable for farm who considering productivity and timothy based mixture would be recommendable for considering forage quality in middle areas of Korea.
The combined impact of Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) fouling and inorganic ($CaSO_4,Ca_3(PO_4)_2$) scaling on the retention of TNT (2, 4, 6-Trinitrotoluene), RDX (Hexahydro-1, 3, 5-trinitro-1, 3, 5-triazine) and HMX (1, 3, 5, 7-Tetranitro-1, 3, 5, 7-tetrazocane) explosive contaminants by nano-filtration membrane were studied, since organic fouling and salt scaling are the major limitations for membrane filtration. Results reported here indicate that DOM fouling layer with a humic acid does not necessarily lead to an immediate loss of permeate flux but can result in a severe impact on the flux loss when both humic acid and inorganic scaltants were presented simultaneously. The $Ca_3(PO_4)_2$ mixed with humic acid showd most sever flux loss (42%) compared to that of only humic acid presence (8%). It could be a result that the scaling formation of the NF membrane was dominated by cake layer formation of DOM and it was along with pore blocking by the formation of crystals inside the porous active matrix of the NF membrane. In addition, these results indicated that the membrane selectivity of the explosives retention trended correlated with respect to increasing explosives size (listed by MW) based on greater steric interactions and followed the order (MW, g $mol^{-1}$; removal, %): HMX (296.15; 83%) ${\gg}$ RDX (222.12; 49%) ≋ TNT (227.13; 32%). Because the scaling and fouling layer could lead to a additional cake-enhanced concentration polarisation effect, the retention of explosives with the presence of humic acid in the feed solution and inorganic scaling formation on top of an organic fouling layer do not differ substantially retention from that of pure DI feed and NaCl solution.
In order to observe the lasting effect of NK-compound mineral fertilizer and organic compound fertilizer including Myweon organic liquid fertilizer, a pot experiment was conducted with rice (Oriza Sativa) variety: Nong Back. These fertilizers were applied as basal and the same amount of urea form of nitrogen was top dressed about a month after transplanting, July seventh, 1977. Results obtained are as follows; 1. The lasting effect of various fertilizers were laid in following decreasing order; Myweon liquid < Organic compound fertilizer (Myweon coop. made) > NK-compound fertilizer (Chosun coop. made) Single fertilizer. It was considered that organic matter served as microbial feed and lead a temporary fixation of available plant nutrients in the soil, and the reduced surface area of the compound fertilizers slowed down the availability of the fertilizers. 2. The fertilizer showing greater lasting effect produced more panicles per hill and less grains per panicle than the fertilizers showing less lasting effect, and brought low maturity, which resulted in low paddy yield the paddy producing efficiency of nitrogen absorbed by straw was also low in the former fertilizers. Such advanced effect of the former fertilizer was considered to be related with the variety of early maturity and unseasonable topdressing of fertilizer which made at the maximum tillering stage. 3. For the production of Japonica type paddy with heavy fertilization which may required to depress the early growth a little and promote the late growth, it might be necessary to develop slow releasing fertilizers such as single fertilizer formulated to a large grains or compound fertilizer containing organic matter. 4. If the nitrogen content of paddy, Nong Back, far excess 0.64 or 0.65% and reaches 0.68% or above, the yield of the variety seemed to be decreased remarkbly through the low maturity rate and thousand grain weight.
