Nondestructive determination of physico-chemical properties in compost by NIRS

  • The purpose of this research was to develop a the reflection technique with near infrared (NIR) radiation for estimating physico-chemical properties in compost. The composts (cattle, pig, chicken and waste composts) were air dried and then ground to pass through a 0.5 or 2mm sieve for the physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic determinations. The physico-chemical properties of compost were shown high values ; moisture(30-60%), T-N(0.8-2.9%), organic matter(29-89%), pH(5.89-9.60) K$_2$O(0.27-5.66%), P2O$\sub$5/(0.07-2.62%), CaO(0.03-4.80%), MgO(0.09-1.56%), NaCl(0.01-1.13%), EC(1.41-13.76dS/m). Generally, we should select a simple calibration and prediction method for determining physico-chemical properties in compost under similar accuracy and precision of prediction. It should be remembered that the NIRS approach will never replace the traditional methods. However, NIRS technique may be an effective method for rapid and nondestructive measurements of a large number of compost samples. Near infrared reflectance spectra of composts was obtained by Infra Alyzer 500 scanning spectrophotometer at 2-nm intervals from 1100 to 2500nm. Multiple linear regression(MLR) or partial least square regression (PLSR) was used to evaluate a NIRS method for the rapid and nondestructive determination of physico-chemical properties and humic acid contents in composts. The standard error of prediction(SEP) for finely sized sample(<0.5mm) and coarsely sized sample(<2mm) did not show much difference. The NIR instrument of filter type showed the same accuracy of the monochromator scanning type to estimate the compost properties. The results summarized that NIR spectroscopy can be used as a routine testing method to determine quantitatively the OM, moisture, T-N, color, pH, cation content in the compost samples nondestructively.

등대시호(Bupleurum euphorbioides Nakai) 개체군의 생태 (Ecology of Bupleurum euphorbioides Population)

  • This study was to analyze vegetation and soil characteristic, and ordination of Bupleurum euphorbioides community located in Mt. Seorak area, Mt. Sobaek area, and Mt. South Deogyu area. Bupleurum euphorbioides community was classified into Carex lanceolata subcommunity and Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. alpinum subcommunity, and Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. alpinum subcommunity was classified into Calamagrostis arundinacea and Carex breviculmis group. In the study sites, soil organic matter, nitrogen, available phosphorous, changeable potassium, changeable calcium, changeable magnesium concentration, cation exchange capacity, and soil pH were ranged from 9.0~15.2%, 0.32~0.47%, 3.0~8.6ppm, 0.3~0.9me/100g, 0.5~1.5me/100g, 0.2~0.6me/100g, 11.4~16.1me/100g, and 4.3~4.6, respectively. And, soil texture was sandy loam or loam. The Carex breviculmis group of Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. alpinum subcommunity was found in area of high elevation and had high exchangeable K, Ca, and Mg concentration. The Calamagrostis arundinacea group of Chrysanthemum zawadskii var.alpinum subcommunity was found in area of low elevation and had lower exchangeable K, Ca, and Mg concentration than in the other subcommunity. The Carex lanceolata subcommunity was found in area of medium elevation and had medium exchangeable K, Ca, and Mg concentration. The Carex lanceolata subcommunity was located in a path of top the mountain peak, and has been destroyed. We need any action to protect the subcommunity.

식물성(植物性) 색소(色素)의 이용(利用)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -I. 꽃잎 맨드라미(Amaranthus tricolor L.)의 Anthocyanin 색소(色素)의 분리(分離) 동정(同定)- (Studies on the Utilization of Plant Pigments -I. Isolation and Identification of Anthocyanin Pigments in Ganges Amaranth-)

  • In order to evaluate the utility of the anthocyanin pigments in Ganges Amaranth as an edible pigment, this study was designed to isolate and identify the anthocyanins. The anthocyanins present in leaves of Ganges Amaranth were extracted with 0.1% HCl in methanol. The extracted pigments were purified by organic solvent treatment and Amberlite CG-400 Type cation exchanger, and then separated into individual pigments by paper chromatography with n-butanol-formic acid-water(100:25:60, v/v) as a solvent system. The separated pigments were identified by their Rf values, sugar moieties, complete hydrolysis and spectral characteristics in the visible and ultraviolet regions. The amounts of individual anthocyanins were also determined. The results obtained from these experiments were as follows. 1. Chromatograms of the Ganges Amaranth extract developed with BFW yielded three anthocyanin bands. The two of the anothocyanin bands were tentatively identified as malvidin-3-glucoside(acylated with caffeic acid) in band 1 and peonidin-3-glucoside (acylated with caffeic acid) in band 2. But the anthocyanin in band 3 was not identified due to extremly low concentration. 2. The amount of total anthocyanins was 101.57 mg/100g fresh weight of leaves in which 82.15 mg of malvidin-3-glucoside (acylated with caffeic acid) and 27.20 mg of peonidin-3-glucoside(acylated with caffeic acid) were contained per 100g fresh weight. Maividin-3-glucoside acylated with the acid was, therefore, the most abundant pigment in the Ganges Amaranth.

Association study between OCTN1 functional haplotypes and Crohn's disease in a Korean population

  • Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with multifactorial causes including environmental and genetic factors. Several studies have demonstrated that the organic cation/carnitine transporter 1 (OCTN1) non-synonymous variant L503F is associated with susceptibility to CD. However, it was reported that L503F is absent in Asian populations. Previously, we identified and functionally characterized genetic variants of the OCTN1 promoter region in Koreans. In that study, four variants demonstrated significant changes in promoter activity. In the present study, we determined whether four functional variants of the OCTN1 promoter play a role in the susceptibility to or clinical course of CD in Koreans. To examine it, the frequencies of the four variants of the OCTN1 promoter were determined by genotyping using DNA samples from 194 patients with CD and 287 healthy controls. Then, associations between genetic variants and the susceptibility to CD or clinical course of CD were evaluated. We found that susceptibility to CD was not associated with OCTN1 functional promoter variants or haplotypes showing altered promoter activities in in vitro assays. However, OCTN1 functional promoter haplotypes showing decreased promoter activities were significantly associated with a penetrating behavior in CD patients (HR=2.428, p=0.009). Our results suggest that the OCTN1 functional promoter haplotypes can influence the CD phenotype, although these might not be associated with susceptibility to this disease.

전라북도 장수군 오미자 재배과원 토양 특성 (Characteristics of Schizandra chinensis Baillon Orchard Soils Located in Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do)

  • 전라북도 장수군 오미자 과원을 대상으로 토양의 이 화학적 특성을 조사하여 오미자의 품질향상, 수량증대 및 유해물질 종합관리 시스템 구축을 위한 기초조사를 수행하였다. 오미자 재배과원 토양은 대부분 양질사토였으며, 토양입단화도는 약 33.12%로 입단의 발달이 부족한 상태였으며, 토양공극율은 약 60% 수준으로 적당한 것으로 나타났다. 토양 pH는 평균 5.51이었으며, 양이온교환용량은 평균 4.11 $cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$으로 매우 낮게 나타났다. 식물영양성분은 적정 수준으로 유지되고 있었으나, 장수군 오미자 재배지 토양의 이화학적 특성 개량을 위해서는 유기물 및 석회처리 등의 토양관리가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 조사대상 중금속의 함량은 자연함유량 수준으로 중금속 오염으로 인한 작물 안정성은 확보된 것으로 조사되었다.

논토양 화학특성 변화와 양분공급력과의 관계 (Dependence of Nutrient Supplying Capacity on Chemical reactions of Paddy Soil)

  • 논토양에서 지속가능한 농업생산 및 환경보호를 위한 양분관리는 토양의 화학반응들에 따른 지표들을 활용하는 것이다. 이 연구는 동일비료 영년시험 결과와 2000년부터 2002년까지 수행된 논토양 유형별 질소수준 시험 결과 등을 토대로 하여, 논토양의 화학작용 및 이와 관련된 양분공급력 지표들을 조사하였다. 논토양의 화학작용은 영양성분의 흡탈착 및 유기물질의 분해를 통한 수소, 전자, 이산화탄소의 생성작용과 이들 물질에 의한 화학작용 등으로 구성되었다. 이러한 토양의 화학작용을 고려한 양분공급력 지표들은 다음과 같았다. 질소의 공급력 지표는 토양유기물 또는 토양단백질이었으며, 인산의 공급력 지표는 유효인산함량이었고, 칼륨의 공급력 지표는 양이온교환용량과 치환성 양이온함량이었다. 한국에서는 논토양의 시비 추천식은 이러한 양분공급력 지표들을 사용하여 설정한 것으로 나타나 환경을 보전하면서 농업생산을 지속적으로 유지할 수 있는 것으로 판단된다.

침엽수림과 혼효림에서 토양특성과 토양세균 군집이 산양삼 초기 생육특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Soil Properties and Soil Bacterial Community on Early Growth Characteristics of Wild-simulated Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) in Coniferous and Mixed Forest)

  • Background: This study investigated the effect of soil properties and soil bacterial community on early growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) in coniferous and mixed forest experimental fields. Methods and Results: The soil bacterial community was analyzed using a high throughput sequencing technique (Illumina MiSeq sequencing). The relationship between the soil bacterial community, soil properties, and growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng were analyzed using principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) and the Pearson's correlation analysis. Soil properties and soil bacterial community showed significant difference with forest physiognomy. Results of Pearson's correlation analysis and PCoA showed that the soil properties (soil pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, and cation exchange capacity) and soil bacterial community had significant correlation with tree species ratio and early growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng. Conclusions: This study clearly demonstrated the effect of soil properties and soil bacterial community on early growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng in coniferous and mixed forest. Moreover, these results will help in the selection of suitable cultivation sites for wild-simulated ginseng.

모후산 삼림식생과 토양환경 (Forest Vegetation and Soil Environment on Mt. Mohu)

  • The relationship between floristic composition and soil environmental factors was investigated in the forest vegetation of Mt. Mohu.The forest vegetation unit of the Mt. Mohu could be divided into three communities, Quercus mongolica community, Pinus densiflora community and Quercus variabilis community. There were two subcommunities in Quercus mongolica community, which were Rhododendron schlippcubachii subcommunity and Stephanandra incisa subcommunity. The Quercus mongolica community was distributed at the altitude of 600~900 m, Pinus densiflora and Quercus variabilis communities were distributed on south-west slope at the altitudes of 430~520 m and 400~500 m, respectively.The DBH class of dominant species in each community showed that Quercus mongolica had 9 individuals/a at 11~15 cm class, Quercus variabilis 5.6 individuals/a at 11~15 cm class, and Pinus densiflora 8 individuals/a at 16~20 cm class. Quercus mongolica. Quercus variabilis and Pinus densiflora communities showed a bell-shape distribution.The contents of organic matter and soil water, and cation exchange capacity of the soil increased and the pH decreased in proportion to increased altitude. The soil environmental conditions of Quercus mongolica community were more favorable than those of Pinus densiflora and Quercus variabilis communities.The supposed successional sere of the forest vegetation of Mt. 친환경건축물 인증제도 활성화를 위한 정보시스템 개선 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Green Building Certification Information System)

  • This study aims for improvement and rebuilding of the 'Green Building Certification Criteria Information System;GBCCIS'. To achieve this, improved information system has developed self-assessment program available on the web and to provide data about the target of Green Building Certification based on the 2010 revised criteria. The target building of Green Building Certification is Apartment, Office, Mixed-Use Building, School, property for sale, accommodation, and other facilities. Also, the information system about the Green building related technologies and techniques to take advantage of offer a variety of information was built. Green Building Certification Criteria web-site Established in this study has information and each menu and contents are linked to organic and high-utilization. Each menu is organized according to the used frequency and the group. Also this web-site is composed of information guide field, core service field, and other field. These improvement of Green Building Certification Criteria Information System can be a positive incentive measures for the activation of Green Building Certification Criteria easily by taking advantage of relevant information by users. And these will be possible to planning development of Green building technologies by introducing the latest Green building construction techniques applicable building. Also, to assess in advance by using self-assessment program in the design phase of building will lead to Green building design and provide the convenience of the application process and through database construction and share information of building assessment resources certified Green Building Certification Criteria will lead to the containment and fair assessment between cation authorities.

능동형 박막 광도파로 칼슘 이온 센서의 개발 (Development of Active thin Film Optical Waveguide $C^{2+}$ -ion Sensor)

  • 고분자 이온 감응막을 광도파로로 이용한 새로운 형태의 센서소자를 제작하여 칼슘이온의 농도 변화에 따른 그 특성을 평가하였다. 광도파로 소자는 실리카 유리기판에 기존의 반도체 사진식각법 (photolitho-graphy)을 이용하여 도파로가 형성되어질 부분을 에칭한 후 감지막을 스핀코팅법으로 코팅하여, 그 자체를 도파로로 이용한 고속 응답의 새로운 형태의 센서소자를 제작하였다. 도파로로 사용된 감지막은 칼슘이온에 대해 특이성을 가지는 변색성 이온감응물질인 ETH5294, 중성이온감응물질인 K23El, anionic site인 NaTm(CF/sub 3/)/sub 2/PB, 가소제인 DOP 및 PVC-PVAC-PVA 폴리머를 THF 용매에 녹여 스핀 코팅법으로 제작하였다. 여러 가지 변수에 따른 센서의 특성을 평가하기 위하여 도파로의 두께(즉, 감지막의 두께), 변색성 이온감응물질의 농도, 각 모드 변화에 따른 센서의 감응특성을 비교 평가하였다. 제작된 센서는 칼슘이온에 대해 1×10­6∼1M의 측정 범위를 가지며, 1×10­⁴∼1×10­¹M 영역에서 선형성을 가지며, 기존의 광학적 측정 방법인 분광분석법에 비해 높은 감도를 나타냄을 확인하였다.
