  • We tried to find the optimal growth conditions of sea cucumber and to analyze the economic effectiveness of the sea cucumber seedling release project in Korea. We first examined the optimal growth conditions of sea cucumber in the relating literatures. Then, we analyzed the economic effectiveness of the sea cucumber seedling release project of the Woncheon fishing village union of Gyeongnam Province in 2016-2018 by using the cost benefit analysis method. The net income of the release project of the Woncheon fishing village union was 69,850 Korean won. The benefit to cost ratio of the sea cucumber seedling release project of the Woncheon fishing village union was estimated to be 1.7, indicating that the project was economically feasible. In order to improve the economic feasibility of the sea cucumber release project, as we see in the case of the Woncheon fishing village union, it is necessary to manage the purchase of the sea cucumber seedling, to improve the recapture rate of sea cucumber, and to manage marketing of sea cucumber.

  • Sustained release microspheres containing phenylpropanolamine HCI (PPA) were prepared with acrylic polymer (Eudragit RL/RS) sand hydroxypropylmethylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP) using a emulsion-solvent evaporation method. Magnesium strate was used a smoothing agent for preparation of microspheres. The microspheres obtained were very spherical and free-flowing particles. Scanning electron microscopy showed that microspheres have a smooth surface and a sponage-like internal structure. The dissolution rate of PPA from the microspheres was dependent on the pH of dissolution media. PPA showed faster relase in hP 1. 2 solution than in pH 7.4 solution due to the solubility of PPA. Therefore we prepared new microspheres containing 5% (w/v) HPMCP in order to control the release of PPA. The release rate of PPA from these new microspheres was similar in pH 1.2 and pH 7.4 solution.

  • Variations in the number of early health effects resulting from the severe accidents of the YGN 3&4 nuclear power plants were examined for different combinations of release parameters and meteorological data . The release parameters and meteorological data were selected in combination to define a limited number of basic spectra characterized by release height, heat content, release time, warning time, wind speed, rainfall rate, and atmospheric stability class. Variant seasonal spectra were also defined in order to estimate the potential significance of seasonal variations as a factor determining the incidence or number of early health effects. The results show that there are large differences in consequences from spectrum to spectrum, although an equal amount and mix of radioactive material is released to the atmosphere in each case. Also, there are large differences in the estimated number of health effects from season to season due to distinct seasonal variations in meteorological combinations in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to consider seasonal characteristics in developing optimum emergency response strategies.

  • Supercooled type ice storage system with aqueous solution (or water) may have trouble with non-uniform release of supercooling even though it contributes to the simplicity of system and ecological improvement. The non-uniform release increases the instability of the system because it may cause an ice blockage in pipe or cooling part. In order to suppress the release of the supercooling, a cooling experiment was tried to an ethylene glycol(EG) 3 mass% solution corresponding with pressurization. Also, the frequency ratio of the release of the supercooling was measured to the pressurization from 101 to 505 kPa. At results, the frequency ratio of supercooling release tends to decrease as the pressure of the aqueous solution increased in each cooling rate. Moreover, it tends to decrease as the cooling rate of the solution decreased in each pressure.

  • In this study the effects of initial pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration, and sediment depth on the release of phosphorus from sediment in Lake Sihwa were investigated. No phosphorus release occurred at $10^{\circ}C$ for all pH values. DO concentrations were decreased and equilibrium was obtained 4-8 days after phosphorus release started. The DO concentrations were less than 1 mg/L. Sediment depth had little effect on phosphorus release rate. In order to control the released phosphorus, raw sludge and chalk were used. Results showed that a portion of phosphorus was removed by adsorption to chalk and raw sludge. About 90 % phosphorus removal was observed using sludge and calcinated chalk from the water sample in Lake Sihwa.

  • Sustained release matrix tablets, pellets, and coated pellets for the delivery of sulindac were prepared using cellulose derivatives at various ratios, and evaluated for the dis solution pattern. The release of sulindac, from matrix tablets prepared with low viscosity HPMC was relatively fast, and especially the tablets made of Metolose SM released all of sulindac within 1 hr. The release of drug from tablets made of other HPMC derivatives were retarded in the order of the following: Pharmacoat 645>Pharmacoat 606>Pharrnacoat 606+HPC-L>HPC-L. The most sustained release pattern was observed with the preparation of high viscous polymer. Metolose 90 SH. While release of sulindac, from matrix type pellet containing 10mg/cap of Metolose 90 SH or 60 SH was completed within 1 hr, a prolonged release formulation (30% in 1 hr) was obtained by the inclusion of EC. Pellets coated with HPMC showed a fast release pattern (${\geq}$ 80% within 2 hrs), whereas pellets coated with HPMC and EC (molar ratio 1 : 1) showed a sustained release pattern (${\geq}$ 80% in 12 hrs), vath the release from EC pellets being the most sustained. Fast (naked) and slow release pellets coated with EC, Metolose 60SH 50cps and propylene glycol. and enteric pellets coated with HPMCP 55 and Myvacet$^{\circledR}$ were prepared, and combined at various ratios for the assessment of dissolution pattern. The result indicates the possibility that the development of 24 hr sustained release delivery systems containing sulindac for oral administration could be achieved by means of combining sustained and fast release pellets at a proper portion.

  • Alginate based polymeric matrices were designed for controlled release and stabilization of cefaclor in gastrointestinal fluid. Cefaclor is known to be acid stable and subjected to be degraded at neutral and alkaline pHs. In order to achieve an effective release profile of cefaclor in gastrointestinal tract, a particular strategy in dosage form design should be required from the view point of maintaining its activity. The amphiphilic nature of cefaclor allowed its controlled release using ionic polymers based on ionic interaction between the drug and polymers. The thrust of this study was to develop a technique that delivers cefaclor keeping effective release rate in the intestinal tract. Considering the fast degradation of cefaclor in the intestinal fluid, the matrices were designed to release surplus amount of cefaclor. The alginate based matrices demonstrated increase in release rate in the simulated intestinal fluid, which was favorable to compensate the degraded portion of cefaclor. In addition, stabilization of cefaclor in the intestinal fluid was obtained by employing citric acid that provides an local acidic environment. The matrices might be valuably used for the development of an oral cefaclor dosage form.

  • Hydrocortisone (HC) sustained-release suppositories were prepared by using a solid matrix of methacrylic acid-methacrylic acid methyl ester copolymer $(Eudragit\;L_{100}^{R}:\;EL)$ as a poorly water soluble carrier and polyethylene glycole 1540 (PEG) as an water soluble carrier. HC release rate was controlled by complexation with ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ $({\beta}-CyD)$ which was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry, IR-spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. Release rate of HC from the EL-PEG matrix suppositories decreased with increase of EL contents. The release rale from $HC-{\beta}-CyD$ complex decreased in the following order: $HC-{\beta}-CyD/PEG$ > HC/PEG > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{10%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{10%}-PEG$ > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{15%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{15%}-PEG$ > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{20%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{20%}-PEG$. The crystallinity of HC in polymer matrix was identified using X-ray diffractometer and the surface of matrix suppositories after release test was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The sustained release of HC from these matrix suppositories was attributed to the network structure of EL.

  • Nowadays, the problems of energy and environmental pollution become serious day by day and the diesel engine, which has been proved to be superior to gasoline engine with respect to fuel consumption and ecological problems of exhaust gas, has been adopted widely for various purposes from the marine diesel engine and the dynamo engine to all kinds of engine on land. Therefore, extensive parametric studies on combustion of diesel engine should be done for its desing and improvement. To predict the behavior of diesel engien according to variable operating conditions by means of cycle simulation, the reasonable pattern of heat release rate has to be asumed. But it is necessary to know the actual variation of heat release rate in order to assume the reasonable pattern of heat release rate according to the actual operating conditions. In this paper, on a high speed small bore diesel engine with pre-combustion chamber, experimental investigations were carried out to determine the relationship between the heat release pattern and parameters such as engine load and speed. And also, the theoretical investigations about the performance variations of the above diesel engine according to the predicted pattern of heat release rate variation were performed. From the above observations, it may be said that the Fanboro indicator, which was used to get the cylinder pressure, can be used to estimate a reasonable pattern of heat release rate and it is confirmed that the pattern of heat release rate for the pre-combustion type engine is different from that of the direct injection type engine.

  • This study analyzed kinematic variables about the cross step, the delivery and the release for women's javelin athletics recorded over 50m in the 2004 Busan International Athletics Competition. It was used the Kwon3D Motion Analysis Package Ver. 3.1 Program(Kwon, 2000) for analysing the kinematic variables about the distance, the velocity, and the angle, then we had the results as follows; 1 In the Cross step phase, the COG velocity was low because their step length was short. To keep the CM velocity from the approach to the last cross over step contact, the athletes have to keep the longer step length within about 130% of the athletics' height. 2. In the Delivery phase, the athletics' COG height was gradually lower, and the deceleration of the COG was going up. As the same in the cross step, Therefore the athletes have to increase the step length within about 100% of their height, in order to increasing the COG velocity. And it was shown they have to make small angle of the elbow as possible from the right foot contact to the left foot contact in order to being the big acceleration of the upperarm at the release phase. 3. In the release phase, it was shown to being low position of the release point as the COG was low and then the release velocity of the upperarm was low. Specially when the shoulder lean lateral angle is big at the release phase, it was shown they have a excessive release angle. And, when it was shown the high rotation angle of the shoulder, the shoulder was opened forward bigger than the trunk was opened forward. So the transmission of velocity from the proximal segments was a fast change.
