HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) Adaptive Streaming is gaining attention because it changes bitrates to adapt changing network conditions. Since HAS (HTTP Adaptive Streaming) client downloads the video data based on TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), it estimates incorrectly the available bandwidth and leads to an unnecessary video quality change in long-delay networks. In this paper, we propose a buffer-based quality control scheme in order to improve the service quality and smooth playback in the HAS. The proposed scheme estimates accurately the available bandwidth based on a modified streaming model that considers network delay. It also calculates the sustainability of the video quality to prevent an unnecessary quality change and determines the inter-request time on the basis of the buffer status. Through the simulation, we prove that our scheme improves the QoS (Quality of Service) of the HAS service and controls the video quality smoothly in long-delay networks.

Land use types within a watershed closely are related with the water quality characteristics of receiving water bodies. Despite of a numerous studies suggesting a strong relationship between water quality and land use, there have been increasing concerns about the geographical variation and a lack of spatial integration in that relationship, which are essential to implementing these findings into land use planning and management. In the meantime, edges mediate the material flux between adjacent systems. This mediating effect of edges is strongly related to the complexity of their shapes. Land use activities within a watershed have a direct impact on the water quality of adjacent aquatic systems, and hydrological processes carry residuals from watershed into adjacent aquatic ecosystems through the edges. Therefore, the geometry of reservoirs theoretically affects the relationship between land uses in the watershed and the quality of receiving bodies of water. In this light, this study integrates the geo-spatial dimensions of land uses in the watershed using GIS and landscape indices in order to explore the relationship between land uses and water quality. Water quality characteristics, land uses and geometry of 133 randomly sampled reservoirs were correlated, based on buffer zones and types of reservoirs. The findings showed that land uses, particularly urban land uses, significantly affect water quality characteristics including BOD, COD, TN and TP, and geometry of reservoirs reduces the concentration of pollutant and nutrients in reservoirs. One of results indicates that the relationship between land use and water quality and effects of spatial dimension may vary with types of reservoirs and pollutants. These results suggest that lakeshore areas are important, particularly for TN reduction and call for a caution to land use activities nearby shoreline areas for sustaining better water quality.
As entry barriers at the legal service market in Korea have been recently lifted, the legal service market has dramatically changed from a seller's market to a buyer's market. Externally, the Korean legal service market has been open to foreign law firms and internally, lawyers graduating from law schools have been increasing. In addition, as even the general public can easily access, through the official sites of government organizations, to the basic legal information such as laws and judicial precedents, the degree of information asymmetry has also decreased. These phenomena require the legal service industry to be a more client-oriented and more quality-oriented one. Having said that, legal service providers also need to continue to make strenuous efforts to measure and improve the service quality from the customers' perspective. Under these circumstances, this study introduced a certain type of model which may be of help of measuring and improving the quality of legal service of law firms, in particular, with a focus on those firms providing corporate legal service. This study used a Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in order to measure and thereby improve the quality of corporate legal service in the law firm industry. Above all, this study showed, by using SERVQUAL, each and every service attributes of quality measurement of the corporate legal service and also calculated the degree of importance of service quality at each process of providing corporate legal service. Next, this study introduced all supporting factors necessary for the provision of corporate legal service and calculated the degree of importance of each and every supporting factors in the service process. This study may be of help to provide the substantial and systematic approaches to the corporate legal service providers who would like to set up a certain methods of measuring and further improving the quality of corporate legal service from the customers' perspective.
The objective of this study was to evaluate and improve the microbiological quality of HACCP application in school foodservice operations. The microbiological quality of foods and utensils were evaluated two times at each critical control point (CCP) with 3M petrifilm in five Daegu elementary schools. Two processes were evaluated: Heating process and after-heating process. The CCPs of the heating process were receiving, cooking and serving temperatures. The CCPs of the after-heating process were personal hygiene, cross contamination avoidance and serving temperature. After the first experiment, 31 employees of five schools were classroom educated, trained on-site, and pre- and post-tested on HACCP-based sanitation with the goal of improving the microbiological quality of the foodservice. Scores representing knowledge of holding, thawing, washing, food temperature, sanitizing and food-borne illness increased after education. In the heating process, internal food temperatures in the first and second experiments were higher than 74$^{\circ}C$, the holding temperature in the first experiment was less than 6$0^{\circ}C$. In the second experiment, the serving temperature improved to a satisfactory level. The microbiological quality in the second experiment improved by decreasing the time from cooking to serving. In the after-heating process, the ingredients were boiled before being cut in the first experiment. In the second experiment, ingredients were cut before being boiled, improving microbiological quality. Also in the second experiment, cooking just before serving food improved its microbiological quality through time-temperature control. These results strongly suggest it is essential to measure microbiological quality regularly and to educate employees on HACCP continuously, especially time-temperature control and cross contamination avoidance in order to improve foodservice quality.
Purpose/Design The purpose of this study is summarized as follows. First, we want to derive the quality dimension of the delivery app services based on the experience of the users of the delivery app. Second, we would like to identify the continuous intention to use, taking into account the integrated nature of online and offline quality. Third, the online and offline quality factors of the delivery app services shall be checked in an exploratory manner to see how they affect perceived value, satisfaction, and continuous intention to use. In order to demonstrate the purpose of this study, a self-report survey was conducted in which respondents directly responded. A questionnaire of 295 people was identified as a valid sample and used for the final analysis. Findings The summary of the hypothesis test results is as follows. First, the system quality among the online characteristics does not have a significant impact on both perceived values and user satisfaction. Second, the hypothesis that information quality affects satisfaction and perceived value was adopted. Third, the service quality was shown to be a significant factor affecting perceived value and satisfaction. Fourth, the delivery quality among offline characteristics was found to have no significant effect on perceived value and satisfaction. Fifth, the hypothesis test of commodity quality showed that both perceived value and satisfaction had a significant impact. Sixth, satisfaction in the delivery app service showed a positive effect on the continuous intention to use.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to study whether the adoption of Six Sigma quality management by a firm positively affects its financial performance. The correlation between the duration of Six Sigma implementation period and the financial status of the firm is investigated as well. Methods: We conduct the analysis using data from Manufacturing Industry Productivity Panel Survey 2013 provided by Korea Productivity Center and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Propensity score matching is used to reduce sample selection bias of observational study. Furthermore, we use multiple linear regression in order to study the relationship between the implementation of Six Sigma quality management and financial performance. The return on assets and ratio of net income to net sales are considered as dependent variable and implementation of Six Sigma as independent variable. Results: The indication of this analysis is that implementation of Six Sigma quality management does not significantly enhance financial status. The firms that adopted Six Sigma quality management were categorized into three groups according to the implementation period. Comparison of each group with the firms that do not adopt Six Sigma quality management does not show statistically significant enhancement of financial status. Conclusion: In conclusion, both adoption and duration of six sigma quality management do not affect financial performance significantly.
This study intended to provide fundamental data to take countermeasures against recurrent stress by analyzing the health-related quality of life and factors for recurrent stress of alcohol dependents. Structured questionnaire was prepared for patients who quitted drinking after they had been hospitalized for alcohol dependence to take medical treatment but suffered recurrence, and analysis on health-related quality of life and environmental factors with drinking risk was conducted. The quality of life was at a relatively satisfactory level, where pain was found at the highest level and general health condition was found at the lowest level. Environmental factors with drinking risk were found to be a moderate level, drinking for the reason of family and friends in terms of complications with other persons was found to be highest, and then job, self control, bad emotions, and social pressure on drinking were found in order. For health-related quality of life, the quality of life was found to be high in case of the only son, professional job, well-educated persons, and no history of hospitalization. Regarding factors for recurrent stress, stress was found to be high in case of the eldest son and being without religion, and the lower was the quality of life, the higher were recurrent stress and environmental factors with drinking risk. It was found that demographic factors including age, marriage, and job influenced the recurrence of alcohol dependence, and factors for recurrent stress, etc. also influenced recurrent alcohol dependence with drinking risks. Specially, the lower was the quality of life, the higher were factors for recurrent stress, and drinking risks, therefore measures to improve the quality of life are required to be taken to prevent alcohol dependence from recurrence.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to examine the influencing factors of oral health-related quality of life in adults. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 300 adults in Seoul and Gyeonggido from June to July, 2015 by convenience sampling method. Except 19 incomplete answers, 281 data were analyzed by t test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, health-related characteristics, whole body dry symptoms and subjective perception of dry mouth. The oral health-related quality of life was measured by Likert five points scale, and a higher score indicated a lower quality of life. Results: The oral health-related quality of life in adult varied by age, systemic diseases, oral health status, missing tooth, stress, decayed tooth, gingival disease. The oral health-related quality of life had positive correlations with the subjective perception of dry mouth and whole body dry symptoms. The subjective perception of dry mouth(${\beta}$=0.245) had the influence on the oral health-related quality of life, oral health status(${\beta}$=-0.209), gingival disease(${\beta}$=-0.151), and decayed tooth(${\beta}$=-0.146) in order. Conclusions: The oral health-related quality of life was closely related to the subjective perception of dry mouth and the oral health status. It is necessary to develop the quality of life improvement programs including oral health prevention and care program in the adults.
Purpose: This study was to identify the degree of health-promoting behavior and quality of life and the factors influencing quality of life of solitary elderly in rural areas. Method: The subjects of this study were 202 solitary elderly, and 65-89, who had been living in four rural areas. Data was collected through 4 questionnaires from July 10th, 2003 to August 30th, 2003. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple-range test, Pearson correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/PC. Results: The average item score for the health-promoting behavior was 2.43; the highest score on the subscale was self-actualization (M=2.58) with the lowest being exercise (M=2.05). 2) The average item score for the quality of life was 2.81; the highest score on the subscale was neighbor relationships (M=3.27) with the lowest being economic conditions (M=2.24). There were significant differences in the health-promoting behavior by educational level and leisure-activity, in the quality of life by age and religion. Quality of life scores correlated negatively with depression scores (r=-.063, p=.000) and positively with health-promoting behavior (r=.144, p=.000), social support scores (r=.383, p=.000). Stepwise multiple regression analysis for quality of life revealed that the most powerful predictor was health-promoting behavior. Health-promoting behavior, social support, depression and age explained 51.8% of the variance. Conclusion: These results suggested that elderly people in rural areas with high degree of quality of life are likely to be high in health-promoting behavior and social support and low in depression. Therefore, it is necessary to develop health promotion programs in due consideration of health-promoting behavior and social support and depression in order to enhance the quality of life of solitary elderly in rural areas.

In this study, through an AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis, the internal construction project was designed to analyze the factors affecting the performance of the project and provide suggestions on the quality of communication. To carry out this study, a selection factor was selected by referring to AHP theory and existing prior research. AHP technique was used to collect weights after analysis, examine and analyze gaps. In the interior construction project, the most important factor among the factors influencing the quality of communication to the project performance was communication interaction. Among the sub-factors, accuracy of exchange of information and timeliness of communication were shown in the order of importance. Looking at the results of comprehensive analysis of the first and second layers, the accuracy of information exchange among the elements of communication quality was found to be the number 1 in weight. The timeliness of communication, which is ranked second, and communication that takes place at an appropriate time can lead to efficiency in shortening the project execution period by eliminating unnecessary work. And, Among the factors that affect communication quality, it was analyzed that communication method is not an important factor when compared to other factors. This study shows that quality of communication influences the performance of interior construction projects and provides suggestions for improving communication quality. And it has been confirmed that managing communication quality can act as an important issue that can improve business performance in project execution and production of results.
