Objectives: This study investigated the relevance of dietary behavior and oral management for oral heath in adults to extend the recognition of the importance of food intake in oral health and to provide basic information for oral health management. Methods: A survey and clinical assessment were conducted for 119 adults over 20 years of age. The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were carried out using SPSS Statistics 20.0. Results: Gingivitis was influenced less when ham and sausage in the sub-area of meat, fish, egg, and bean were consumed once a week rather than the cases when consumed rarely (3.47 times) or when consumed two times or more a week (7.87 times) (p<0.05). Periodontitis was influenced more in the groups of 30s and 40s age than in that of over 50 years of age (14.97 times, 7.73 times) and in the group without drinking experience than in group with that (4.17 times) (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results verified the close relationship between food intake frequency and oral health in patients with periodontitis and gingivitis. Thus, it would be necessary to study the relationship between dietary behavior and oral health continuously.

As for the frequency of visiting a dental clinic(hospital) for the last year, the non-movement group recorded higher frequency than the movement group, and the drinking group also did than the non-drinking group(p<0.05). 2. As for the experience and frequency of scaling, the female subjects were higher in the experience and frequency of scaling than their male counterparts. The older they got, the more they tended to have scaling. The married respondents had more experiences of scaling than the singles, and the non-drinking group was high in the experience of scaling(p<0.05). 3. As for the number, time, and method of toothbrushing a day, more women answered they brushed teeth three times or more per day than men; those who were in their forties were the highest in terms of the roll method, and those who were in their twenties were the highest in terms of toothbrushing time. The married group and the non-smoking group answered they brushed teeth in the roll method three times or more per day in higher percentage. In this study, the changes in occlusal strength and oral environment before and after the use of natural gargles containing cinnamon were confirmed. This study involved 42 adults aged 19 or older living in Busan from November 25 to December 2, 2023. Twenty-one people were randomly selected for each of the regular and natural gargles. In this study, the group using natural gargles confirmed an increase in saliva buffering power, a decrease in O'Leary index, and an increase in occlusal strength. Through this, it was confirmed that natural gargles containing cinnamon are helpful in improving the oral environment and occlusal strength.
This study analyzed and compared the oral health care knowledge, oral health behaviors and oral health status of elementary school students in schools with a dental clinic and those without. This study was carried out in November of 2012. The subjects were 188 elementary school students. Structured questionnaires were completed and the SPSS(Ver.17.0) Program was used for the collected data to perform frequency analysis, a t-test, and ANOVA. For oral health knowledge, the operating school dental clinic (OSD) group had a high score of 6.72 points, while the non-operating school dental clinic (NSD) group had 5.95 points. The results were statistically significant(p<0.01). For oral health behavior, the OSD group had a high score of 5.55 points, while the NSD group had 4.59 points, which was statistically significant(p<0.01). Students in schools with school dental clinics have much better knowledge and behavior about oral health than students without school dental clinics.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the status of oral health in relation to the acknowledgement of oral health trouble and oral health habits. Methods : This study was conducted after IRB was received, on 273 patients who had received health screenings between October-1, 2014 and January-31, 2015 at a general hospital in Busan. Results : Regarding the status of oral health in relation to the acknowledgement of oral health trouble, the rates of dental caries and periodontal disease were higher when the patients knew the reasons for trouble about the oral hygiene. With regard to oral health habits, our results showed that the more frequently the patients ate sugary snacks per day, the probability of experiencing periodontal disease was higher than for the patients who did not eat sugary snacks. Our results also, showed that the occurrence of dental caries is very much dependent upon whether a patient had experienced education on toothbrushing. Conclusions : Patients need to become more aware of their oral health through education. A program that emphasizes the importance of preventive oral health behaviors and the maintenance of correct oral health behavior should be developed.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to compare the oral health related characteristics between a long-term patients and general population. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for gingivitis management programs by dental hygienists by evaluating the effect of oral health education, oil pulling, and professional toothbrushing on gingivitis. Methods: A total of 38 subjects were divided into three groups: control group (12 subjects), experimental group 1 (13 subjects), and experimental group 2 (13 subjects). The control and experimental groups were instructed to brush using the rotating method. Distilled water was provided to the control group after training. Coconut oil was provided every morning for about 10 minutes. In the experimental group 2, a professional brushing method was used at each visit. Results: There were no significant differences in oral health among the three groups, and there was homology between patient hygiene performance (PHP) index (p=0.144) and bleeding rate (p=0.213). The PHP index showed a significant interaction between the group and measurement time. The control and experimental groups showed changes in the PHP index with time (F=3.711; p=0.013). The bleeding rate showed a significant interaction between the group and measurement period. The control and experimental groups showed changes in the bleeding rate with time (F=6.707; p<0.001). Conclusions: Oral health education, professional toothbrushing, and oil pulling specialists in oral care of gingivitis were effective in managing gingivitis. It is necessary to educate people on self-management methods for oral health promotion using gingivitis management programs by dental hygienists.
