The purpose of this study is to improve the oral health after understanding the usage status of oral health items and to conduct active guidance for prohibition of smoking. The survey of 326 visitors for continuous oral health management in the dentist from April 2nd 2007 to May $20^{th}$ is accomplished. The data is handled from the SPSS 12.0 statistics program and we can get the results like below. 1. The number of people answering the usage of the smooth toothbrush is 64.5% which is higher in smoking peoples than in non-smoking ones (p < 0.001). Non-smoking people 61.4% answering '3 minutes more' per brushing their teeth is higher than smoking respondents. 2. The more used device is the interdental brush by non-smoking people 36.7% than smoking ones and the answer. 3. The percentage answering 'recommendation in the dentist' in the question about the motive using the oral health devices are nearly same in 69.6 % and 67.5% by non-smoking and smoking persons. The most reason not using these devices is 'don't know how to use this' and the number of smoking guys is 38.7% which is higher than that of non-smoking ones(p < 0.05). 4. The percentage of answering 'regular visiting the dentist', the method for oral health management is 28.3% in smoking parts and 35.3% in non-smoking ones which is slightly higher. From this study, the usage and the recognition of oral hygiene devices of the patient with smoking is a little bit lower than those of non-smoking patients and small difference is shown. So public relations of the effects and the necessity of the oral hygiene devices to all people have to be performed and the education and the activity prohibiting smoking are expanded by the dental hygienist based on the understanding of oral health when the patients are smoking or not.

Objectives: The objective of the study was to investigate oral health index between adequate and inadequate dental care following preventive scaling in regular dental check-up and management. Methods: The subjects in Busan were assigned to two groups including inadequate dental care (140 patients) and adequate dental care (88 patients) after preventive scaling from January 2014 to June 2015. The study instruments included oral health knowledge, awareness, practice, and community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN). Results: CPITN was significantly different between the two groups (p<0.05). Positive correlations were found in oral heath knowledge and awareness (r=0.462, p<0.05) before application of preventive scaling. There was a close correlation in oral health awareness and practice (r=0.205, p<0.05) before application of preventive scaling. After application of preventive scaling, oral health knowledge and awareness showed positive correlation (r=0.643, p<0.05). After application of preventive scaling, there was also a close correlation between oral health knowledge and practice (r=0.453, p<0.05). Oral health awareness and practice (r=0.512, p<0.05) showed positive correlation after the application of preventive scaling. However, oral health practice and CPITN (r=-0.189, p<0.05) showed a negative correlation. Conclusions: Practice made periodontal condition improve. To promote oral health practice in the group without adequate dental care, it is necessary to pay attention to adequate dental care and preventive scaling through education by dental hygienists.

The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health care and oral health awareness of some laborers. Out of them, 220 workers were selected from K motor company in Hwaseong, and the other 180 workers were selected from D automobile company in Bupyeong. The findings of the study were as follows: As for daily toothbrushing frequency, the largest number of the laborers investigated(44.0%) brushed their teeth three times a day. Smoking made a significant difference to that($x^2$=19.00, p<.01). Concerning the use of oral hygiene supplies, 41.3 percent put oral hygiene supplies to use. There was a significant difference in that aspect according to gender($x^2$=9.20, p<.01). Regarding scaling experience, the largest group(37.3%) had their teeth scaled twice or more, and their scaling experience significantly varied with gender($x^2$=8.60, p<.05), age($x^2$=20.07, p<.01), academic credential($x^2$=11.88, p<.01) and the presence or absence of systemic diseases($x^2$=8.19, p<.05). In relation to oral diseases, the greatest group(27.8%) had dental caries. By gender, the female workers had more dental caries or the more swollen gums than the males, and the gap between the two was significant($x^2$=13.65, p<.05).
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between two major oral diseases and cardiovascular diseases. Methods: Data from the 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2015) were used. The study included 12,754 adults, aged ${\geq}19years$, who participated in the questionnaire survey of health related to hypertension, stroke, myocardial infarction, and angina pectoris as well as completed blood tests, anthropometry, and oral examination. Statistical analyses included complex sample frequency, complex sample general linear, complex sample cross-tabulation, and complex sample logistic regression analyses. Results: With respect to the number of Decayed-Missing-Filled-Teeth(DMFT ), patients with hypertension (DMFT 8.05), stroke (DMFT 8.66), and angina pectoris (DMFT 8.24) showed a DMFT score of >2, compared with those who did not have these diseases (p<0.05). Patients with hypertension, stroke, myocardial infarction, and angina pectoris presented an approximately 2.7, 3.5, 4, and 3 times higher incidence of periodontal diseases, respectively, than those who did not (p<0.05). Based on the analysis of the relationship between the number of DMFT and cardiovascular diseases, patients with cardiovascular diseases had a risk of 1.033 higher DMFT than those who did not (p<0.05). As per the analysis of the relationship between periodontal diseases and cardiovascular diseases, patients with cardiovascular diseases had a 2.969 higher risk of periodontaldiseasesthanthosewithout them (p<0.05). Conclusions: Two major oral diseases were found to be associated with cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, to prevent these major oral diseases in patients with cardiovascular diseases, oral hygiene management must be actively performed.
The present study surveyed 300 adults who completed orthodontic treatment to determine their oral health-related quality of life and changes in oral health behavior in orthodontic patients. The collected data is analyzed using the spss 22.0 program. Before orthodontic treatment, social factors (4.68) had the lowest associated quality of life score, and after orthodontic treatment, socially related quality of life showed the highest increase at 3.72 points. Changes in oral health behavior showed that many phosphorus scaling increased by 1.28 points after correction compared to before correction. As oral health quality of life and oral health behavior have changed through orthodontic treatment, dental professionals need to take appropriate management of each patient's individual quality through health education. Appropriate management needs to be developed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between demographic characteristics, health factors, oral health factors and subjective body shape perception of adolescents in order to provide basic data for adolescents health management. Methods: This study was analyzed using Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey in 2015, where 68,043 adolescents in total participated. Data were analyzed by SPSS Ver. 21.0. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the relationships among health factors and oral health factors related to subjective body shape perception. Results: The analysis of the factors influencing the body shape perception of male adolescents showed that they tend to be low in school performance, low in family economic level, and high school students. The worse they perceive their subjective health to be, the more they feel stress, and the less frequently they brush their teeth per day. They had bad breath. The analysis of the factors influencing the body shape perception of female adolescents showed that they tend to be low in school performance, low in family economic level, and high school students. The worse they feel their subjective health is, the more they feel unhappy, and stressful, and the less frequently they brush their teeth per day. They feel pain during chewing, and have bad breath. Conclusions: In conclusion, it is necessary to consider educational intervention in adolescent life that will make them have proper perception of their body shape for proper health management of it. To make the intervention effective, we need to consider various factors such as health factors and oral health factors.
Background: Aphthous stomatitis is a common disease of the oral mucosa and its pathogenesis is associated with several risk factors. Frequently, minor ulcers are idiopathic in nature and often resolve naturally. However, those ulcers are painful and sensibly compromise patients' eating. There are different treatment strategies for the clinical management of oral aphthae. Methods: The present study assessed the efficacy of a film-forming cream in accelerating the healing and diminishing the pain associated with minor aphthae in a randomized fashion design. The test product (AphtoFix®) was compared with placebo cream in a cohort of patients with a diagnosis of minor recurrent stomatitis. Patients were randomly distributed into two groups and were followed for 10 days. The primary outcomes included the number of days until symptoms were relieved and the number of days to complete healing. Results: Thirty-six patients completed the follow-up, eighteen per group. All lesions eventually healed within day 10. However, patients in the test group experienced significantly less pain, already from day 1. Patients in the test group also showed a faster healing rate of the lesion with an average of 7 days against the 9 days required for patients in the control group. Conclusion: The present study supported the utility of a film-forming in cream in relieving the patient from symptoms associated with aphthous stomatitis already at day 1 of product use. Patients also displayed faster healing of the lesions when compared to the control group. Further studies with greater sample size and patient stratification according to age and risk factors are recommended to support the present findings.
