It has been found that the incidence and mortality of COVID-19 are high in patients with underlying chronic diseases. Amid COVID-19 pandemic, tooth brushing is as important as hand washing for health care. The aim of this study was to identify factors related to the rate of tooth brushing and hand washing in hypertensive patients. We analyzed 62,762 hypertensive patients over the age of 40 from the Community Health Survey 2020. The practice rate of hand washing was higher among women, younger age, higher education level, mask wearers when going out, and tooth brushing practitioners after lunch. The hand washing practice rate was higher in hypertensive patients who practiced tooth brushing. In conclusion, there was the relationship between oral hygiene and personal quarantine. It is necessary to prepare sustainable measures to increase the practice rate of infectious disease prevention behaviors for patients with underlying chronic diseases who are susceptible to COVID-19.
Background: The purpose of this study was to identify the differences in the importance of oral pathology learning objectives for instructors and clinical dental hygienists and provide basic data that can guide learning objectives for acquiring practically necessary basic knowledge in the clinical field. Methods: Through the first-stage expert meeting, 27 items with less than four points out of 129 learning objectives in 15 detailed areas were deleted, 12 additional opinions were reflected, 114 learning objectives were set, and a survey was conducted with 253 people. Results: There were statistically significant differences in 92 items after examining the difference between professors and clinical dental hygienists. Among the areas of inflammation and repair, "Can explain the five symptoms of inflammation" had the highest with a score at 4.76 in the case of the professors. Among the areas of tooth damage, "Can explain abrasion" had the highest with a score at 4.61 in the case of the clinical dental hygienists. Conclusion: I would like to propose the existing 15 detail areas and 129 learning objectives as 14 detail areas and 98 learning objectives and strengthen the job competency of dental hygienists in the future. First, you need to develop competencies that are highly relevant to your work. Second, it is necessary to develop related textbooks and educational materials based on revised learning objectives and competencies. Third, based on revised learning objectives, the dental hygienist national examination should be improved. Through these changes in education, the education of oral and maxillofacial disease subjects should strengthen job competencies among dental hygienists with learning objectives that can be applied to actual clinical practice based on basic knowledge rather than knowledge orientation. In addition, it is possible to improve the quality of dental hygiene studies.
The purpose of study was to offer devices to activate the dental health class of community health center and to evaluate the present programs and to propose adequate guidelines for future public dental health program of dental health care in health center. For this study, the mail quastionnaire survey was carried out from the 116 dental hygienists who are working in community health center. Present condition and direction of public dental health service are as follows: dentist's office was 90% by area and work department. Dental health department was equipped in 91.7% of 'public health center', but 'health branch office' was 57.9%. Dental hygienist education condition of Public health center was the most frequency in 'At large city'. 'Have no entirely' of dental health education number of times was 35.8% in 3 years. That is 44.5% in supplement insturction. Most Dental hygienist's business was most 'teeth-sealant' and 'Old man false teeth prosthetic dentistry business'. Therefor, The Obstacle factors of dental health service activity were 'manpower tribe(average 3.92)', and next 'lack of understanding and support insufficiency of law(average 3.47)'. Curriculum for educational practice should be also designed for brightening the dental health service business. The most important thing for dental health service is 'expanding and improving the facilities Legal system' and next 'Opportunity enlargement and activation that can take dental hygienist's residency'.
In this study, survey is conducted to make aware of importance which personal protection was accomplished at the dentistry. It investigated the performance of infection control and X-ray safety management to the third grade of D-Health College. 1. The infection control is recognized to high level and practiced certainly at actual training of oral prophylaxis. 2. The infection control is recognized to low level relatively at actual training of radiography. 3. The infection control is not practiced at actual training of radiography except for the film holder. 4. The X-ray safety management is recognized to high level and conducted certainly at actual training of radiography. To consider the above result, the infection control is not nearly practiced at radiography. In accordance with, the education must be demanded that the infection control is practiced throughly at radiography for raising a necessary against the recognization and practice of the infection control.
Purpose: Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly tools such as ChatGPT developed by OpenAI, a U.S.-based AI research organization, have transformed the healthcare and education sectors. This study investigated the effectiveness of ChatGPT in answering dentistry exam questions, demonstrating its potential to enhance professional practice and patient care. Materials and Methods: This study assessed the performance of ChatGPT 3.5 and 4 on U.S. dental exams - specifically, the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE), Dental Admission Test (DAT), and Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) - excluding image-based questions. Using customized prompts, ChatGPT's answers were evaluated against official answer sheets. Results: ChatGPT 3.5 and 4 were tested with 253 questions from the INBDE, ADAT, and DAT exams. For the INBDE, both versions achieved 80% accuracy in knowledge-based questions and 66-69% in case history questions. In ADAT, they scored 66-83% in knowledge-based and 76% in case history questions. ChatGPT 4 excelled on the DAT, with 94% accuracy in knowledge-based questions, 57% in mathematical analysis items, and 100% in comprehension questions, surpassing ChatGPT 3.5's rates of 83%, 31%, and 82%, respectively. The difference was significant for knowledge-based questions(P=0.009). Both versions showed similar patterns in incorrect responses. Conclusion: Both ChatGPT 3.5 and 4 effectively handled knowledge-based, case history, and comprehension questions, with ChatGPT 4 being more reliable and surpassing the performance of 3.5. ChatGPT 4's perfect score in comprehension questions underscores its trainability in specific subjects. However, both versions exhibited weaker performance in mathematical analysis, suggesting this as an area for improvement.

The Korean Institute of Dental Education and Evaluation (KIDEE) was established in 2007 to provide the quality assurance in dental education. The KIDEE has been recognized by The Ministry of Education from Jan. 2015 for 5 years. KIDEE had accredited basic dental education programs of all 11 Korean dental schools. The dental accreditation system was introduced to encourage the improvement for dental schools, to ensure the quality of dental practice and most of all, to establish an internationally compatible system of evaluation and accreditation. The accreditation system in Korea is supported by voluntary service of many dental professionals and contribute to improve the quality of dental education program in all institutions. The accreditation by KIDEE let the students and the dentists be taught with assured education program and the all Koreans be cared by the qualified dentists. A quality education system thus provides a sufficient number of qualified dental health professionals to meet the workforce needs of the nation. Ultimately, this should result in quality oral health care for the public. Finally, by specifying the competencies of graduates, the standards will define the scope of dental practice. This may serve to define the profession of dentistry and differentiate it from other health professions, or to differentiate among the specialties in dentistry in the case of advanced dental education programs.
The purpose of this study was to develop an inclusive dental hygiene practice model in an effort to stir up the self-directed learning of learners to boost their problem-solving skills and ability of providing inclusive personal oral health care in a systematic and efficient manner. The subjects in this study were 41 dental hygiene students who were in their second year in C college located in South Jeolla Province as of 2009. An inclusive dental hygiene practice was implemented during a 15-week period of time from August 31 to December 7, 2009, and a self-administered survey was conducted before and after that by using the same questionnaires. Whether there were any differences between before and after the application of the inclusive dental hygiene practice model was checked, and there was improvement in all the learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level. Concerning the relationship of academic standing to changes in learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level, the inclusive dental hygiene practice model brought more favorable changes to the students in the lower tiers. The inclusive dental hygiene model should be applied to not only practical courses but theoretical ones so that learners could make progress both in theory and practice, and evaluation tools geared toward assessing their academic achievement and practical abilities should be developed.
This study is to enforce to ready basic data of effective school dental health education for dental caries prevention, relation knowledge of class, feeding practice and snack intake preference actual conditions, food and caries executed investigation by own recording way using questionnaire consisted of dental health education awareness to some business world man high school locating in Kyonggi Province. Analyzes result that total 487 people respond in SPSS WIN 13.0 programs and got following sequence The obtain result were as follows 1. Results about habit of breakfast was the most by 36.1% a student who have breakfast every day, and a student who hardly eat dominated 32.9%. Second-year student hardly had breakfast (p<.01). 2. A student who answer that snack kind that often eat was cookies and snack kind was the most by 37.2%, and a student who answer that symbol drink was a carbonated drink was the most by 50.9%. 3. Relation knowledge degree appeared grand mean among 18 points perfect score by 12.36 with food and caries. Third-year student knowledge degree was the highest, and second-year student was the lowest knowledge degree by class (p<.01). 4. Existence and nonexistence of experience of dental health education appeared a student who experience that take dental health education does not exist by 57.1%. There was experience that take dental health education as class is low by class, and as class is high, experience did not exists (p<.05). 5. Time that take dental health education for the first time was the most by 56.7% a student who respond 'Babyhood', grade in school is low by class 'Babyhood', and is high by class responded 'Middle school'(p<.05). 6. Awareness of dental health education necessity 'may educate dental health and does not' a student 56.3%, half was looked attitude which students who exceed are insincere about dental health education necessity. 7. When educate dental health, contents was the most by 44.6% 'brushing and mouth article directions' to be educated importantly, and was expose by caries 31.2%, gum disease 10.1%, scaling 9.0%, prosthetic dentistry and implant 5.1% period of ten days, third-year student 50.8% said that 'brushing and mouth article directions' is important (p<.05). Dental health education is practiced during life, and is a teaching that should be remembered. Need to develop epoch-making and interesting education program that is correct in subject to do as quickly as possible, and should be achieved major road of dental hygienist. Dental hygienist will have to settle as quickly as possible as expert of prevention that is natural business and education and help in dental health education development under effort between country and dental association effective.
Gene expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) changes in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) depending on feeding conditions, which is decreased during food deprivation and restored by refeeding, and phosphorylated cAMP response element binding protein (pCREB) was suggested to play a role in its regulation. This study was conducted to examine if the fasting-induced down-regulation of the PVN-nNOS expression is restored by activation of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (cAMP/PKA) pathway. Freely moving rats received intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of cAMP/PKA activator Sp-cAMP (40 nmol) or vehicle (sterilized saline) following 48 h of food deprivation. One hour after drug injections, rats were transcardially perfused with 4% paraformaldehyde, and the PVN tissues were processed for nNOS or pCREB immunohistochemistry. Sp-cAMP significantly increased not only nNOS but also pCREB immunoreactivities in the PVN of food deprived rats. Fastinginduced down-regulation of the PVN-nNOS was restored by 1 h after the icv Sp-cAMP. Results suggest that cAMP/PKA pathway may mediate the regulation of the PVN-nNOS expression depending on different feeding conditions.

Background: Initiation, perpetuation and cessation of smoking are all multifactorial. It is essential to explore interactions among various parameters influencing smoking and its cessation for effective smoking cessation interventions. Objectives: To obtain insights into smoking and its cessation among current smokers in India. Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted among current smokers visiting the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Manipal University, Mangalore. Knowledge, attitudes, behavior, worksite practices towards smoking and its cessation, barriers to smoking cessation and socio-demographic variables were explored using a structured, pretested, self-administered questionnaire. Results: A total of 175 current smokers participated in the study. Mean knowledge, attitude, worksite practice and barrier scores were $15.2{\pm}5.67$ (66.1%), $57.5{\pm}7.67$ (82.1%), $4.18{\pm}2.02$ (41.8%) and $57.4{\pm}12.37$ (63.7%) respectively. Correlation analysis revealed: association of knowledge with education, occupation and religion; attitude with education and occupation; worksite practices with occupation; knowledge with attitude; and barriers negatively with worksite practices. The majority (85.7%) of respondents intended to quit smoking and this was associated with higher attitude scores, whereas actual quit attempts were associated with high knowledge, attitudes, worksite practices and low barrier scores. Conclusions: Various socio-demographic factors associated with smoking and its cessation were identified. The present study highlights the importance of identifying and targeting these interactions while framing guidelines and interventions for effective tobacco cessation in a developing country like India.
