A significant error in the end milling processes is generated due to using slender tools of which the strengths are not sufficient. In order to obtain the desired machining accuracy, therefore, it is general that at first the rough cut is implemented, then the finish cut is followed. The rough cut eliminates large volume and the finish cut does the remained part. This remaining portion after the rough cut is called as the finish allowance. Larger finish allowances make it hard to get precise dimensions at a following finish cut. Smaller finish allowances are helpful for good dimension, but it sometimes is responsible for inferior surface qualities and over cuts. This study suggests a guidance for the optimum finish allowance for machining accuracy improvement, in which the rough cuts are regulated to remain the desired margins without any over cuts. Some experiments were carried out with various cutting conditions including the change of tool strengths and depth of cuts, and also extended to up millings as well as down millings.
Presently, abrasive processing is on eof several methods for cutting and grinding brittle materials, and high quality in dimensional accuracy and surface roughness are often required as a structural components, therefore most of them has to be ground. In manufacturing of tungsten-carbide components, grinding by diamond wheel is usually adopted in order to provide configurational and dimensional accuracy to the components. The present study proposes the experi- mental research of optimum condition to the high quality surface grinding of the WC-Co material using diamond abrasive wheel in order to minimize the damage on the ground surface and to pursue the precise dimension by conventional grinding machine. Brief investigation is carried out to decrease the dressing is constant, theoretical grinding effect such as machining precision is changed according to the speed of workpiece. Accordingly, normal and tangential grinding forces, which are Fn, Ft were analyzed for the machining processes of WC-Co material to obtain optimum grinding conditions, 3-point bending test is carried out to check machining damage on the ground surface layer, which is one of sintered brittle materials.
2. 줄기묘의 재식밀도는 10$\times$3cm(333주/$m^2$)가 적정하였다 3.
A flexible disk grinding system process has been introduced that utilized varying disk orientation with respect to workpiece along with the applied feed speed. A known process model methodologies has been used to fomulate processed surface profiles. Various process conditions including cutting speed, maximum feed speed and orientation angles could applied to observe process outcomes. Even though continuous and constant feed speed has been applied to the process, the results from the trapezoidal input velocity profiles would be observed and compared. Based on the control strategies including neural network methodologies, several output results were compared to find the optimum process condition.
This paper is described about the technique of ultra-precision machining for a infrared camera aspheric mirror. A 200 mm diameter aspheric mirror was fabricated by SPDTM. Aluminum alloy as mirror substrates is known to be easily machined, but not polishable due to its ductility. Aspheric large reflector without a polishing process, the surface roughness of 5 nm Ra, and the form error of $\lambda/2\;(\lambda=632.8 nm)$ for reference curved surface 200 mm has been required. The purpose of this research is to find the optimum machining conditions for cutting reflector using A16061-T651 and apply the SPDTM technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of Al-alloy aspheric reflector.
The collimation mirror will be used for thermal vacuum testing of spacecraft. The reflection mirror system to generate parallel beam inside the thermal vacuum chamber. A 600mm diameter aspheric Collimation mirror was fabricated by ultra-precision single point diamond turning (SPDT). Aluminum alloy for mirror substrates is known to be easily machining, but not polishable due to its ductility. Aspheric large collimation reflector without a conventional polishing process, the surface roughness of 10nmRa, and the from error of $\lambda/2 ~\lambda/4(\lambda$ =632.8 nm) for reference curved surface 600 mm has been required. The purpose of this research is to find the optimum machining conditions for reflector cutting of A16061-T651 and apply the SPDT technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of metal aspheric reflector.
A 110 m diameter aspheric metal secondary mirror for a test model of an earth observation satellite camera was fsbricated by ultra-precision single point diamond turning (SPDT). Aluminum alloy for mirror substrates is known to be easily machinable, but not polishable due to its ductility. A harder material, Ni, is usually electrolessly coated on an A1 substrate to increase the surface hardness for optical polishing. Aspheric metal secondary mirror without a conventional polishing process, the surface roughness of Ra=10nm, and the form error of Ra=λ/12(λ=632.8nm) has been required. The purpose of this research is to find the optimum machining conditions for reflector cutting of electroless-Ni coated A1 alloy and apply the SPDT technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of metal aspheric reflector.
On this study, technical aspects were reviewed to drill a series of micro holes (${\phi}$0.10) over 200 within a few micron tolerance in diameter and position on the stainless steel material. Dedicated tools & jigs were designed and manufactured and optimum cutting conditions were found. On this micro hole drilling process, guide drill and step feeding were applied to help chip discharge, prevent drill breakage and finally improve the accuracy of positioning and roundness. The processing results indicated that most holes are distributed within a few micron tolerance in diameter and position intervals.

Ni-based heat resisting alloys are commonly used for high temperature applications such as in aircraft engines and gas turbines. In this work, the machinability of Nimonic 263 alloy is investigated with respect to optimum tool type and cutting conditions for both continuous and discontinuous machining as well as weld region. Among the five types of tools tested, K25 tool experienced the least of damage in machining the weld region. Furthermore, despite their superior high temperature hardness, Si-Al-O-N and CBN tools peformed poorly in machining Nimonic 263.
